They offer paint and all the supplies you need so you can paint it your self. This is such a unique concept. In addition to the wide assortment of furniture, you'll also find some small locally made goods, like candles and hair accessories. This is a very small store, the items are placed so intentionally, so there is plenty of walking room, without the fear that you'll walk into anything. I really loved Cindarella's Attic, if you're looking for a special accent chair, or a dresser in a unique color this is the place to go.

Jessica is pretty talented when it comes to refinishing furniture so we don't need to pay someone else for their time, since Jessica can do it just as well. She uses great colors, her prices are fair, and she gets some pretty quality pieces. So far we've bought a Thomasville french provincial dresser and a 1930's Art Deco vanity. She does have pretty nice costume jewelry (not really my thing I am a dude), paint for furniture, handmade soap and other assorted items (we got some pretty sweet porcelain door knobs too). We haven't attended one of her classes, but on Saturdays you can learn how to paint furniture (shabby chic style), and you leave with the piece you worked on. If you appreciate things like dovetailed drawers and actual wooden furniture check this place out.

Either way, the shop is filled to the brim with trinkets--mostly costume jewelry. I found it a bit overwhelming at first, but kudos to Patti for keeping everything meticulously organized. You could easily spend hours here and still not see it all. Just keep in mind that it's heavy on costume jewelry and lighter on true antiques.

Patti the owner works here, she's very chatty and friendly. I particularly liked the selection of pearls, there's also broaches, beads and silver. This is still a lovely store worthy of a visit.

The back room is amazing, a big rambling garage of real antiques, books, tin wear, furniture, glassware, kitch, and a DOLLAR SECTION. I have found so many amazing things in this section. I've often picked up an item and said "we can EBay this for like $40" and mom will reply, "yes but I have 47 cases of glassware to sell so ummm, give someone a thrill" and indeed, people will get super excited and find a gem. Local goat soaps, local raw honey, and local folk art are great additions to the antiques. New items inspired by antiques: Whimsical signs, vintage inspired decor for every holiday (especially Christmas!) metal chickens, hooks, candles, country, wreaths, rugs, tablecloths, pillows, curtains, lamps, small furniture, notepads, kitchen lighting, soap dispensers, dishcloths... Is 100 dealers on 22,000 square feet gargantuan enough for you? The sales floor is cut up into vendor stations absolutely crammed with assorted antiques, collectibles, jewelry, stained glass, lighting, musical instruments and LPs, toys, artwork, kitchenware, and tons of just plain cool stuff. Among the treasures we saw were an old tabletop pinball machine, a signed photo of Jerry Mathers from Leave it to Beaver, a Dukes of Hazzard lunchbox, itty bitty metal army men, cowboy boots, dolls, a ton of old Bobbsey Twin hardcover books, and a great Elvis Presley concert poster. Neither one of us are really antiquers, so it's hard for me to make an educated statement about the authenticity, value or pricing of their items. But I can say that the time we spent exploring every one of those 22,000 square feet was great fun.

I've been furnishing an older home in the Berkshires for about a year and a half, and compared to the Fairfield County area (the old Mongers Market, Our Place, etc.) I find this shop to be perfect. I've been splitting time between NW CT and Western Mass for neat finds. Like most spots, you need to be able to maneuver in small spaces in most booths. You also need to be able to crouch down and stand back up now and then, or bring someone with you who can. I did not consider any of the prices I encountered to be over the top, and there's plenty of parking. There is also a lot of variety and unique finds. I highly recommend it if you're in the market for some treasures. I know I will definitely be back soon.

Obviously it's to check out some antique centers and the first one we checked out was Forest City Merchants. This antique centre is located inside of what looks like an old factory building and has a pretty decent amount of space. The floor itself is separated by some small walls and there's a few separate rooms throughout the building. I spent maybe twenty minutes or so wandering around without finding anything, but hey, you could go to the same antique center once a week for a year and hit the absolute biggest jackpot one week and then strike out 49 weeks in a row, so that's just what happened on this day. I did see some cool action figures and such, and luckily it didn't appear that any of the booths here had Temu garbage. Overall, Forest City Merchants was a solid antique center to walk through and certainly a place to check out if you are in the area. I'll definitely be back in the future since I'll be staying in Middletown again.
