    Cool table and chairs!

I walked in looking for furniture, and this place was great! I found an excellent 1960s style table and chairs in excellent condition and priced to sell. The person working even popped them in his van and drove them to my house for free! The basement is also full of treasures priced at a steal. Lots of stuff to discover here, highly recommend.

1.) Just to warm you up: I came here to give my pad a little pizzazz with awesome framed art. I am so glad this place existed, because the stuff at Target and the few other department stores just was not cutting it. 2.) What your eyes may see: Antiques. Old stuff. Dust here, dust there. Elegance. This place is pretty huge. They have 3 rooms on the main floor, and a basement all selling framed art, books, antique and modern furniture, kitchenware, books and other memorabilia. The one hallway on the main floor reminded me a little bit of a museum. The arts ranged between classical, contemporary and abstract. Some freelance painters have contributed to this place, one of which is a female from Wethersfield, CT who makes some really cool stuff. 3.) Service: Amy who owns this place is a sweetheart. She even gave me some deals and steals, discounts and worked with me on the budget I had that day. 4.) Price: Many things were affordable, especially the basement floor, where everything was 50% off the original price. I left the place with 5 items of framed art, small to very large paintings for $114 out the door. 5.) Impressions: Come here if you want some nice art for your place, and not want to spend a fortune.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

With a pressing installation deadline (my due date), David and the entire team worked hard to get it installed early! Every person knew we wanted it "before baby" and always checked on us too!! One of the quotes we received was from a big box store, and I do not recommend. On top of taking forever to receive, their specialist told us they couldn't do something that Epstein said was absolutely no issue. The two men who came to do measurements for Epstein Brothers were clearly professionals to the point that this was second nature to them - bouncing ideas off of each other on the spot, keeping me in the loop with their suggestions, making sure anything I decided on was something that wouldn't need to be changed down the road (for example, making sure we weren't redoing the downstairs bathroom anytime soon before they custom cut vinyl planks around the existing vanity and toilet). The installer that showed up was incredibly professional, efficient, and even helped my husband move a heavier object to make room for the new carpeting. The salesperson who helped us decide which carpet and vinyl we were going with in the showroom was also incredibly helpful. Not a single person was pushy, and they were all honest and upfront with what was and wasn't a good idea. We will definitely be going to Epstein when we inevitably need to redo the kitchen and upstairs bathroom. They earned a customer for life out of me!
