The TJ Maxx in Farmington is one of the best in the area. It is very well stocked in every department, it is organized and clean. I wish Burlington next door would learn a few tips from them on how to keep a store clean and organized. They have clothing items for men, women and kids. Although the women's clothing section is lacking a bit. There are items for pets, toys and shoes. As well as a nice variety of items for the home. They even have some bicycles for sale. The store isn't big, but there's plenty of great merchandise. Parking is easy, since it's at a shopping center. The line to check out is typically quick. I actually like this location a lot and seem to have good luck finding things here. However, some of the employees need some work. This happened not long ago, that the woman working in the jewelry and accessory dept. was absolutely hacking so loudly it was startling. She coughed for a really long time and was not covering her mouth. I immediately left that area and just went to check out. I very quietly told the woman ringing me up that the coughing employee sounds really sick. The woman started almost berating me in a loud tone, that the employee has asthma and she would never come in to work sick. Ok, but how would anyone know that she's not sick and actually has asthma? Also, she's still spreading germs by coughing without covering her mouth. The cashier kept going on and on aggressively that I just walked out. I appreciate people sticking up for their team members, but this is a completely different circumstance. read more

Went in just 20 min ago and Kiara (not sure how to spell they're name) in the jewelry section was super polite and helped me pick out a nice bracelet while also helping me browse for men's earrings. Very rarely do I feel comfortable talking to store employees about preference and style but they made me feel at ease talking about what I was interested in. Also they have a great selection of men's jewelry so I will definitely be back. read more

They really do have a decent selection here but every time I pop in, I have the strangest (and sometime off putting) interactions with employees. While running errands in Corbin's Corner this morning, I stopped in to make a quick return of something I bought on TJMaxx.com. I'd purchased some lovely patio cushions and planters and thrown in a couple clothing items that ended up not fitting. The employee seemed super suspicious of the return (like spent 10 minutes cross-checking every number when it could have been a quick electronic scan -- it was just a pair of pair of pants and a shirt) and told me I shouldn't shop online because they have everything in the store. Ok, ma'am. Then because I obviously love TJMaxx/Marshalls/Homegoods, I was wandering around the store afterward and found a few things to buy -- the same lady kept eyeing me and smirking. I have been here twice. The first time around I went in to buy a black tie; and found two very good ones. The second time I was there with my sister in law to buy some tops. She found 6, and we only stopped buying because we went in to get only a couple. We also found a good selection of active wear. The store is not the biggest TJMaxx I have seen to date, but even with their limited selection, I was able to find what I needed both times. The store is fairly organized, and the staff is polite. Small for a TJMaxx, limited selection, but a few good finds. Considering this location is near WestFarms, it's kind of odd that it's considerably smaller than most of their other stores. However, I will say it's very clean and the staff is friendly. I was able to find a Giovanni hair gel here that I had been trying to find for months. That was nice, but then I noticed the food/cooking section was very small with an extremely limited selection. It's just hit and miss. read more

I dropped by to pick up some tights. I swear I go through those things like they are going out of style. If I saved all of my "not so perfect anymore" leggings I bet it would wrap around planet Earth twice. This particular TJ Maxx has a crappy selection and it seems they operate on a different sale schedule than others. The Southington location started discounting their legware approximately 2 weeks ago. I think since this location is close to the mall, they don't really have to mark things down. I bought a few items for my dog. They had a food and water bowl tray for $10. That's way cheaper than what a pet shop would charge. I saw some kettles but they were still overpriced. For Hello Kitty fanatics, this store seems to get tons and tons of Hello Kitty items. read more

Although this TJMaxx is closer to me, I'd rather drive further to go to a Marshalls. The store is small and rather crowded. The clothes are so jammed together it is hard to find anything unless it is being displayed with its own rack. The shoe selection is awful; extremely small with all choices looking like rejects nobody wanted in the first place. Ironically, one of the areas with the largest selection is the clearance selection, but much of it is damaged. read more

Eh, it's alright... The first thing that bears mentioning is that this is a remarkably SMALL Tj Maxx... Most locations I've seen are perhaps twice the size... Surprising given the fact that this place is in a strip mall with many empty storefronts. Can't wait for Nordstrom Rack to open next door... Dare I say it might put this location out of business... On the good side, they got some good stuff, and quite cheap. My girl and I found these beautiful, slightly damaged decorative mirrors for 10 bucks each. Trust me when I say that 20 bucks and a little super glue was well worth this level of high decor. Got a nice shirt too for 15 bucks... Some things are overpriced here given the fact that this place is one step up from a thrift store, but if you spend some time, you'll find the real bargains. read more

Like any other off-price retailer, TJ Maxx can be a hit or miss. This location consistently has a beautiful assortment of scarves, sterling silver jewelry, sunglasses and home furnishing. I've bought sheets, coffee, mirrors, and cooking utensils there. I normally don't buy clothes there because they do not have a petite department...and their clothes are cheap...in quality. Their shoe department is great when the shoes have the red clearance sticker on them. When there's the Westfarms Mall nearby, don't waste your time looking for clothes there. read more

Is this the biggest TJ Maxx I've ever been to? Not by a long shot. In turn, it also does not have as expansive merchandising. Overall, I still find it to be a fun place to bargain hunt. Being a TJ Maxx, the prices are still very deeply discounted. But because it is a TJ Maxx, merchandise is very hit or miss. The service is ok. And it is in a good location. I'm surprised at the negative reviews here saying that this place is small. To me, this was on par with the rest of the TJ Maxx stores I have been to. Lots of parking, newer-ish building, bathroom was clean. I felt like the women's lingerie section of pretty big compared to what I was used to, and there was a good selection of toddler & infant clothes, toys, and accessories. The checkout was something odd, though. The person checking me out did not make eye contact with me at all. She was too busy looking over her shoulder trying to have a conversation with two other employees who were standing there, doing nothing. Complaining about how it is so slow in the mornings. Lol what? When I worked retail, I didn't mind slow times. Anyways, she ignored me so much she DID NOT ASK ME IF I WANTED TO OPEN A TJ MAXX CREDIT CARD. Are you listening, corporate? This is LITERALLY the smallest TJ Maxx location I've ever seen. And with a crappy selection to boot. Everything was messy and disorganized, the salespeople were unprofessional, and lots was just empty. Yuck. I can't thing of a single reason to ever come back here, so don't. read more
