Good reviews are easy but my hope is that an honest review will encourage improvement... The gym is not being well maintained. The priorities are wrong. The equipment should be the primary focus of any fitness facility, along with cleanliness. Currently both of those are being neglected- I don't know why & it's sad. There is so much potential being ignored. Lots of equipment pads are busted & cracked, many cables are broken, machines are broken & unavailable - all very fixable & straight forward. It's a gym. It's gets busy from time to time and maybe some people are mean. But overall, I've had no issues with staff or other members. Prices are fair for what is provided and the hours of operations. Work out, hit the sauna and head home. Trainers seem to be nice. read more

Start with the positives. This gym is very clean overall, including the men's locker room as well. They have a handful of machines you will not find at a typical commercial gym, particularly with lower body machines; vertical leg press, plate loaded donkey calf raise, various types of machine squats (belt squat, hack squat, pendulum squat with the pad on the shoulders, etc.). This gym definitely has a vibe that is more catered to people that are actually there to workout/train, which I consider a huge positive compared to other gyms where half the people there are unmotivated. There are several negatives of this gym though. First, the ceilings are quite low and it's predominantly black inside with the only lighting coming in through the windows towards the front of the gym/entrance. This in combination with it not really being that big of a gym makes it feel really claustrophobic, almost like you are in a closet. The turf area they have is also this awful bright red color that is painful to look at. Another issue I had is they constantly played this awful obnoxiously loud latino rap/hip hop music on their speakers, it was particularly bad over by their turf area. I legitimately thought about having to wear ear plugs there to protect my hearing, I don't listen to music when working out. They should play a variety of music styles OR just stick with very basic stuff that everyone can enjoy. One big issue that I had was the sheer number of aspiring "fitness influencers" there. You'd always see people with tripods set up filiming themselves on the gym floor or overhear dumb conversations about that crap. I find that to be incredibly distracting and believe that should be banned from gyms entirely, most people don't want to be a background character in your youtube video or instagram short with maybe a thousand views. I also thought it was incredibly weird to see so many guys posing in front of the mirror when you first walk into the men's locker room. You literally turn the corner to walk into the locker room and you are literally face to face with some nobody bodybuilder posing in front of the mirror there with him wearing a speedo or where he has his underwear hiked up lol, it's insanely awkward to say the least lol. Something else I had an issue with is that even during the slower hours it was often quite busy. If you wanted to use the sled or the tires on the turf area it was difficult to ever get to do so because a lot of people would block it by setting up there. There really wasn't another spot for people to stretch or warm up, so the turf area in particular was always an issue for me to use. The final issue I had was with the staff there. Most of them seemed ok but there were/are a handful of them that seriously need to work on their people/customer service skills. I didn't put much thought into this, as they were predominantly quite young, teens through early 20s, but when a gym member is asking them a question they should know it's rude/odd to just stand there giving them the "gen z stare" lol. read more

Poor customer service. Be aware - they dont have membership prices on their site - and literaly they can charge you any amount they want - simple crooks. You can't bring your lock to a locker room - you need all the time to create a code combination - it is difficult to do as far as hell amount of people inside the locker room all the time - they need to make pictures of their big asses. Staff can open your locker with a master key. One day I found my locker open but nothing was taken. That is why I put on my uniform at home and after that go to club. Sorry, if my running shoes are in a dog shit - its not my choice. The club stinks after adding more people. A lot of public can take a machine for 15 min - till they finish sets - and dont give anyone an opportunity to use it (this club has no more than 2 the same type machines). The most part of public - young people who have Instagram. They spend 50% of time making video - and this is hell annoying. They dont have a swiiming pool, any group training at all. So the club is worse than VASA and deadly overpriced. read more

They do not include the benefits they initially offer in the membership. My partner and I were some of the very first people to sign up for this gym when they opened. One of the features they made a point to show us and say that it would be included in our membership, was the recovery room. I decided to test it out one day and asked the front desk for a session. They let me know that they changed their policy and now I would have to pay EXTRA on top of my regular policy to access this. (One of the features why I chose to use this gym). Originally, the classes were extra to the membership (weird because they host very few classes) and the recovery room was included. Later they swapped this. I also paused my membership and they manually unpaused it and resumed my payments. In terms of gyms that try to trap you with prices and perks that don't align with what they will actually do, this is one of them. They do have great equipment, but not a lot of availability of it, especially after the continuous influx of memberships they add on. Used to be quiet and you could use the equipment. Now it is pretty packed. read more

This brand new facility is off the hook. This mega-gym has absolutely everything you need. Whatever your level of fitness, you'll find it here and be comfortable. Both the free weights and machines have their own huge separate footprint, and everything is nicely laid out without being crammed close together like the the other gyms. I was a little disappointed to find out that this World Gym is not accepting any insurance fitness plans. It's certainly their choice if they want to do that, but they are alienating a huge part of the population that uses these. For example, most federal employees (there's a lot in Tucson) have access to Healthways Prime and pay for it directly through their insurance. The network of gyms is pretty massive and includes both small franchise gyms and the larger ones similar to World Gym. And the frustrating thing is that other World Gyms are actually included in it out of other cities. When I went in to speak to someone at this location, the first girl I spoke to was a little bit rude, saying that they're never going to accept insurance programs. When I asked to speak to someone else about it she said I could, but that they're not going to accept it, so what's the point. She seemed annoyed that I wasn't just handing over my credit card for a membership. I finally spoke to who I think was a manager, and he was polite, but explained that they want it to be "membership focused." Which didn't really make sense because they kept telling me I could pay for a day pass. If it's "membership focused," then a day pass would not be consistent with that idea. Regardless, for all the people out there that pay for an insurance program, they're not going to pay for entire separate membership just to go to this gym, even though it might be a very nice facility. Therefore, since most government employees get their gym access through their insurance company and pay monthly for it, I would think it's fair to say that this location and the franchisee is not very government/law enforcement friendly. And when I spoke to my government coworkers they agreed. If they were law enforcement/government friendly, they would accept insurance plans, especially those by government employees. For that I give this specific franchisee location one star. I'm sure it's a great location, but by refusing to allow any insurance programs, they are alienating a huge part of the population that happens to be civil servants and government employees. Of course, that's their right, but they need to be prepared for criticism such as this. Edit: The owner reached out the day after I gave this review and I really appreciated the response. While Im disappointed and disagree in their decision to not accept insurance programs, it's certainly their prerogative. It's just frustrating that some locations are and others not. As for the service I got when I walked in, no one offered me any kind of special rate for first responders but that's most likely because I didn't advertise the fact that I might be eligible for it. And that's the issue, if the girl had engaged with me. A little more and actually had a conversation, maybe we would have gotten to a point where other options of membership could have been discussed. But it didn't because she was very brief and dismissive of my questions once she realized I wasn't going to get a membership and pay for my insurance plan. The only thing I mentioned was that as a federal employee, like most, we use our insurance. So because of the owners quick response, I'll give this place 3 stars instead of 1, but I still wish I would have received a little better service and a more substantive discussion when I came in to the location instead of being offered a membership in a rude dismissive way. read more

If I could leave half a star I would. I'm a professional boxer and me and my coach train there in the morning pay for our memberships just like everyone else to be able to prepare for our upcoming fights. We've had nothing but problems with they other trainers and even after the fact my coach started working out WITH me they were still giving us issue's because apparently it's against policy to prepare for anything other than body building and because we don't need their "training" because it offends the trainers. Obviously no trainers there no how to prepare for a fight. And it's not like we're promoting ourselves, our gym, or what we're doing. We go in and workout together just like everyone else. My coach is my spotter there just like others who go with their friends but because they KNOW he's my coach it's been nothing but issues. There's others there CLEARLY training other people and they don't say nothing to them. Trainers are rude and act like the intimidate people. I wouldn't recommend for athletes or professional athletes because they have no respect for what you're purpose is there unless it's something you need them for. Every morning we have gotten side eyes when we go in to work. And don't ever feel welcomed. It's like they are constantly waiting for an opportunity to say something. Can't focus on our workout or even in a good environment because they make it feel so hostile for going in there WITH A PURPOSE. Very disappointed on how they handled the matter and how much they showed no care for our preparation. It's not like we're not paying to be there and use the equipment. read more
