What a great workout led by a super fit female business owner ( well I think she was the owner ) . I did the legs and glute class . Many modifiable workouts here for any level . This gym is extremely clean too, something I appreciate. Before I even stepped foot in this gym , I had texts and emails guiding me on my first workout and what to expect . One text included a video & let me know they'd be teaching today . I know my way around a gym but the set up prior to arrival was on point . Once I arrived , I was greeted by an awesome staff member who chatted it up with me until everyone had arrived ( I was early ) and he posed for a pic as well. During class I noticed the community here , I met a member who shared how happy she was at fit cultur. Had text follow up text & a handwritten card waiting for me after class at the front desk. Overall 5 stars , no complaints .

As for the cons, the sauna is sometimes out of order. It's been off and on all summer. Also, I will say that some of the older people at this place don't understand gym etiquette and will swipe your equipment before you're done if you turn your back for a second. The trainers are somewhat distracting as well. Some are good and know what they're doing, but they're unreasonably loud when speaking with their clients. Others are quiet and polite but don't offer great training; one guy had his older, frail client ripping down half reps on the lat pull down machine like he was 14 years old and trying to impress his friends. Overall, a good experience with a few hang ups.

As a parent and grateful community member, I continue to be impressed by the care, professionalism, and heart that make this place so special. Our experience with the Early Childhood Education program for the past three years has been outstanding. As a parent, the most important thing is trust, and we have real trust in the teachers and leaders. The staff know the children, care about their growth, communicate with families, and create a warm, nurturing environment where kids feel safe, supported, and excited to come each day. The care is high-quality, thoughtful, robust, and flexible, which matters so much for working families and families with different needs. I also deeply appreciate the J's broader commitment to inclusion, especially its programming for individuals with disabilities and families who benefit from extra support. That is one of the things that makes the J feel like more than a gym, preschool, camp, or community center. It is a place that works hard to create belonging. The facilities are excellent and very well maintained. The campus is especially fun in the summer, with the pool, splash pad, camp programming, sports fields, tennis courts, fitness center, classrooms, art spaces, and community gathering areas all working together. It feels like a true community campus where people of all ages can learn, play, connect, and feel welcome. No organization is perfect, but I have a lot of confidence in the people leading the J and in the direction of the community. For families looking for early childhood education, summer camp, fitness, aquatics, arts, inclusion programming, or simply a welcoming place to belong in Tucson, I highly recommend the Tucson J.

This welcoming environment, however, is in spite of, not because of, its owner, who uses his brand's social media account to mock people for, among other things, having pronouns in their bio, and when confronted on this, will delete comments critical of those actions. https://www.instagram.com/p/DYfR3r9yPIv/ As such, it becomes difficult to recommend Tucson Strength as a welcoming place if you are someone who expects to have your gender identity respected, as the owner believes "pronouns are a social construct" that he "does not buy into" and that "there are [only] two genders" He is obviously welcome to these opinions, in the same way I am welcome to take my business elsewhere, while letting others know they may not feel welcome in this space. It is truly disappointing that the owner of a gym with a "Don't be an asshole" sign cannot live up to that most basic of principles. All of that said, I cannot in good conscience give a review less than three stars, as at the end of the day it has the makings of a potentially fantastic gym that's *actually* a welcoming place for *anyone*, and I have incredibly fond memories of my time there. It was with great disappointment that I canceled my membership, but I simply no longer felt welcome at a place owned by an online bully, who claims everyone is welcome in his space, while at the same time using his public business account to hunt down and mock those who think differently than him.

POSITIVES: * Clean * Well-attended (lots of staff) * Very modern * Has every imaginable machine or device (it has two or three of them usually) * Private staff & faculty gym time from 11a - 2p & 4p - 7p in the Smart Moves Studio (I just found out about this!! No more waiting in line for machines during peak hours!!) * TONS of space (gyms, weight rooms, pool, etc) * Fuel Eatery (not a bad post-workout smoothie stop) * UA Gear store * Small daily lockers in the weight room so you don't have to rent a locker * Lots of energy * Big Ass Fans keep the air moving comfortably * Informative website: www.rec.arizona.edu * Free towels & gym equipment (those these aren't in the same place) * Reasonable prices * Massages available * Every class imaginable available * Closed circuit gym cam so you can see how crowded it is before you go NEGATIVES: * I wish the gym opened a little earlier (even an hour). Normally opens at 6am, which is great but 5am would give me more time to work out before leaving for work. Also, then it would alleviate the giant mass of people trying to all cram in the doors at 6am every morning. Seriously, it's a smallish Black Friday trying to get in the doors every morning (I might be exaggerating slightly but it's still not fun) * Sometimes the computerized entrance (finger-print) gates don't work. It's a total question mark whether they'll work when you walk up * I will never understand why they made the entrance on the north of the building and all the parking is on the south. Especially when it's dark and cold - that's a long walk for a single woman * The locker room is functional but could definitely use an update * Lots of bros (nothing to be done about that - they go to school here and we can't build them their own gym) * No daycare (just saying it would be nice but probably not logical) Personally, this is one of my favorite gyms but I'm very selective about my timing because it is so popular (especially at the beginning of the year).

My trainer Lylah is great, she is very knowledgeable and has helped me so much in my health journey. The facility is VERY CLEAN, my favorite aspect of the gym. The bathrooms have great showers and a dry sauna that comes with your membership. I love the amount of equipment, especially the barbells. Main feedback is we need cold water to drink, I have personally told every staff member I can and my trainer since April. It's October and that dang water dispenser still dispenses hot water, there is also no clear way to share feedback to the actual gym or share maintenance concerns. The recovery room is nice, I mostly enjoy the vitality booths and cryotherapy chair but recently a lot of the recovery amenities have not been working. Some things are from members breaking or not taking care of things, others seem to be a lack of maintenance issue. Whatever the case, things should be quickly repaired or replaced. Overall, I am mostly satisfied with my choice. You do have to sign a year contract, so time will tell if it will be my long term gym here in Tucson.
