While the size of the overall building provided more than enough room to ensure everyone had plenty spread out and party, each room felt like it held it's own little surprise and character. 10/10 would recommend this for anyone looking to plan a corporate or private event. We were shuttled here from the wedding hotel. The building is cool because it's historic - built in 1936. However, repurposed into an event venue, the interior spaces feel a bit more generic and industrial (typical). The spaces were decorated beautifully for this event. Cocktail hour took place in the Lobby and adjacent Mercer room. There were two bars - one in the Lobby and one in Mercer - and hors d'oeuvres. I don't know how many guests there were, but it was crowded and tight, especially in the Lobby. Dinner (self-serve buffets), dancing, and dessert took place in the Packard room. Again, pretty standard space repurposed for events. Decor, sound, lighting, food, and drink (more bars) were all great. There was even a liquid nitrogen ice cream station. To cool off during the reception (dancing), we went outside to the adjacent Cadillac Courtyard. Restrooms are located in the basement. They were spacious, clean, and even stylish.

We checked it out last night and can't say enough great things. The opportunity to see such highly accomplished (and legendary) musicians in an intimate venue - for free! - is incredible. On top of that, everyone there was gracious and welcoming, and the third-floor bar was well-stocked, including with craft beers from the brewer downstairs. (I could be wrong, but I think the third-floor bar may have been cash-only, so if you go check out the band, bring cash just in case.) Venue OverDrive and their house band are a treasure in Chicago that I wish more people knew about.

Rather than being seated in the main dining room, our party of four was seated in the large separate room. Unfortunately, the space was quite warm and extremely loud, with several large groups dining around us. It made it difficult to enjoy conversation at our table. Our server was very nice, but it was clear she had her hands full managing the larger parties and seemed a bit overwhelmed. She was doing her best, but the service definitely felt stretched. As for the food, I ordered the gluten-free shrimp fra diavolo, which was incredibly spicy but absolutely delicious! I appreciated having a gluten-free pasta option that didn't sacrifice flavor. Others at our table enjoyed the gnocchi, penne buttera and chicken milanese, and everyone was very pleased with their meals. The caprese salad was also a big hit! Overall, the food was the highlight of our visit. I would certainly consider returning, but I'd request seating in the main dining room next time in hopes of a quieter, more comfortable experience.

With the choices I had given it was Italian only because not having a good Italian restaurant at home is hard to find and though we engorged on a couple Chicago's Deep Dish Pizza it's not the same. Walking in you instantly get the whiff of Italian cuisine along with the cool decor with wine bottles on the wall you do get a sense of this restaurant. Thank you to Kyra who not only found this convenient location for us but put in a reservations as well as a party of five can be challenging though because of that we got sat immediately and knowing that there just an hour plus I believe before they close though we're definitely not the only ones there it was something that we did keep in mind that the staff was very kind and patient with us along with splitting the bill for each of us was very much appreciated. I got the Bucatini where it was the Calabrian chilis that got my attention along with crumbled sausage, garlic and fresh tomatoes sounded simply nice as the portions are quite generous though grazing on some bread beforehand did do me in as the food coma hit the short walk back to the room helped it along. Parking is always seems like the challenge here in Chicago and this neighborhood restaurant is not different though seems to have a favorite with many locals and can see why. Thank you!

The show was phenomenal. $20 for 45 minutes of pure, smart, incredible comedy. With the comedy 20 feet away! I saw in the back at a high top with a cider and a mocktail. It was the third venue we toured and the moment we stepped in, we had that "this is it" feeling. We didn't bother touring any other venues after we visited Mae District for the first time. We absolutely loved the three different spaces at the venue, which helped the day flow easily, moving from the ceremony space to cocktail hour to dinner. The second floor space was an incredible bonus. The bridal suite was big and made getting ready so comfortable, and the extra huge open space gave our families room to hang out before the ceremony as well as a space to take photos. Our point of contact, Hanna Roberts, was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She was quick to respond to emails, patiently answered all our questions, and even sent us swatches when we were torn between two table runner options. We also really wanted a boba bar for our wedding, and they delivered! We were able to create a custom sign for the boba bar, which was a huge hit with our guests. I literally want to breathe in the building so I can take in every ounce of genius of Mr. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (Architect of Building). The architectural element is unbelievable. The structural beams are on the outside of the building, freeing up the interior space with an open plan. But to diminish the look of the structure, it was painted black where it disappears as the envelop of the building rather than standing out. The floating steps was a great touch to the building where the whole architecture looks lightweight and airy; especially with the curtain walls, you can literally see through the building. Once you're inside, the openness of the plan and the transparent windows allow you to take in the surrounding environment, bringing in the exterior into the interior space, creating an infinite space. This is exactly why this building is one of the prime example of a architectural movement in the modern era. Many buildings now-a-days take so much merits to this building. It's a fabu-licious!
