As I have reduced mobility and walk with a cane, I was concerned about walking home from the shop. They advised me that to get into the trans and change that, they should replace the whole transmission for a couple hundred more, otherwise they couldn't guarantee the work. And they charged $150 for this "diagnosis". They wanted thousands of dollars for a new transmission, and I was stuck because I couldn't take the emissions test to renew my plates with a check engine light on. Brought it to Tony's Transmissions, and he replaced the sensor in a few days for a few hundred dollars. I can't remember the exact amount because I paid cash and it was about a year ago, but I just saw his business pop up when I was doing a search and remembered that I should have left him a review back then. He really did great work. Check engine light was off, car passed emissions, and we drove it for another year before selling it a friend for his teenage son. Car is still running strong.

AutoZone told me it was the catalytic converter, so I purchased the correct one and brought it in for installation. After inspection, they told me my catalytic converter was in good condition and that the issue was the three flex pipes, which I paid $450 to replace. A few days later, the same problem returned -- same noise, same check engine light. When I went back, the same shop told me now it's the catalytic converter after all, even though I was told to return the one I had already purchased based on their advice. I ended up paying for unnecessary repairs, return shipping, and now they're asking for another $350 to fix what I initially came in for. This experience was disappointing and felt misleading. As a Black woman, it's disheartening to constantly feel taken advantage of in car repair spaces. Please double-check diagnostics before agreeing to costly repairs and get a second opinion. Had my husband come get me and I dropped off my keys with a note stating that I needed a tow and what parking spot my car was in. Later the next morning, they called me, said they were able to get it started and brought it back to the shop. Cleaned up the battery (the connections were corroded) and my car has been great ever since. We also take our Chevy, that is under warranty, to Frankfort Family Auto for all maintenance and oil changes. Much more reasonable pricing than the dealer. They always ask if you need a ride if you are not going to wait. Great people to do business with. I love this place and recommend them every chance I get.
