Let me begin with this question: Has anyone else dealt with JR Comerford & Son ? Tom Brathen bought the business back in 2011. Tom sent out a guy out, lets call him " Tommy Christmas" to deliver & install a power vent on our oil burning furnace just before the holidays in Nov. 2019. If the rating squares were lumps of coal I'd give them five lumps, but they're gold stars, like in grade school, so they get one. Like they spelled their name right, put then just drew rockets & planes on the exam paper but never answered any of the questions. For starters, they put in the wrong power vent, one intended for a gas burning furnace and the furnace never worked properly after that. Year after year, like Father Christmas they kept coming back to fix this or repair that and never made an effort to honestly address the under-lying issue, they knew was the culprit but did nothing to correct. Tom stated at one point, "it was the only one we had & the other one was too expensive... ." They never even taped the flue-pipe seams so smoke was leaking into my parents house for years. It wasn't until I returned for a visit and notice that the smoke pouring from the chimney didn't mean the Vatican had chosen a new Pope, it was just the toxic fumes leaking from the furnace. Meanwhile, the furnace continued to malfunction. It took me five minutes of searching the internet to discover the unlicensed elves installed the wrong venting mechanism. FUN FACT: NY State doesn't require furnace technicians to be licensed. Seriously, look it up, anyway~ When I explained to Tom I discovered he installed the wrong vent he texted, "they're basically the same thing, I just altered the voltage to make the gas one work with your furnace." This statement reveals that he knew it was wrong, but did it anyway. I contacted the company who made the vent and they warned us to stop using the furnace immediately and wait until a certified service tech could make the necessary repairs. Two weeks went by in Dec. 2023 The qualified company sent a repair tech out and saw the electrical system had been dangerously altered, necessary parts were missing and the entire system had to be repaired. We paid over $2000. to fix a problem he created and when I demanded he reimburse me for the expensive repairs he hilariously offered me a $400. "credit" He eventually reimbursed me for the entire amount. In the end, I wouldn't trust these guys to watch my goldfish never mind work on a boiler that uses combustion, fuel oil & electricity in my house. In my opinion-Anyone who has had this clown posse' work on anything in your home should have a qualified technician come out and inspect their work. .

They repaired it by putting some black material in the top cap. Now that material is creating or stain on our light gray roof, they came back and told us it was dust. We registered multiple request to the staff Kim White to have the owner Mike Majeski please come and meet with us or at least call. We never got the dignity of our response This year we are damaged due to ice buildup. It took them all summer to get the part and when it came, it was the wrong part meanwhile they had our deposit over $1000 no apology when they didn't come to install it we were not told they were coming. They just appeared. Our problem is that we are into this company for thousands of dollars for a roof and here we are still paying for our new roof.

Their estimator looked the job over made some suggestions, and said I would be the first or second job that season and they would start in April weather permitting. I signed a contract and sent a check for half the agreed amount. Around the 20th of June I got one days notice that they would be at my house to do the job. About 7:00 AM the next day the same estimator showed up with a crew of about 10 Hispanic people only one of which spoke a little bit of English. About 1:00 PM the Estimator/foreman took off to visit family out of state leaving the crew to finish the job. Around 5:00 PM they started putting all their equipment away and I asked about the roof on the bay windows and the soffit repair that was part of the contract. Now no one understands English. I contacted the foreman and eventually was told another crew would come and finish. That crew came probably three times each time telling everything was done but it was not. Not only didn't they do the work they said they did but they slopped gutter coating all over the new roof shingles. This dragged out until December when Over the Top wanted to bill me for the roofing only and let the other work go. I told them no way. We have a contract and I want the work done as per the contract. Then I was told they would not be coming back any more. I had to find another contractor who came the following spring to fix the poor work that was done and finish the job. That cost me an amount equal to the second half of the original contract plus another $1,000. In the meantime there were three different leaks which I, a disabled veteran in my seventies, had to fix myself in the middle of December. Then repaint three different interior walls. I am also a retired contractor and believe me these are the last people you want working on your home.
