Found myself in Wooster around noon, and needed some lunch. Saw this spot on Yelp and decided to…read moregive it a try! Menu is soups, salads and sandwiches. From the looks of the space, they're a bar by night and lunch spot by day. Really cool old space with original hardwood floors, high cathedral ceilings and rustic charm. Ambiance was on point. Their menu is fairly unique. A number of custom house options that take traditional sandwiches and add stuff you wouldn't necessarily expect. I ended up getting one of their seasonal specials that is a play on a grilled cheese sandwich. It came on toasted, marbled, rye, with feta cheese, fresh, sliced jalapeños, fresh, sliced pineapple, and Swiss cheese. I always love, trying things that combine, savory, sweet, and spicy. So I was hoping for the best with this one, and it delivered. The sandwich came with hot waffle, fries, and a side of ketchup. Shout out to the two people working, as they were completely overwhelmed, but getting food out to tables regardless. I was expecting a pretty long wait time based on the orders ahead of me, but my food came out in under 10 minutes. I was impressed all things considered. My only small complaint is the pricing is just a little bit high for what you get. Especially a grilled cheese. It's just bread, pineapple, jalapeño, and cheese. I don't feel like that should cost $13. I wish the waffle fries came with it for that price. But they were an additional three dollars, as well as three dollars for a fountain drink. After taxes and tip, it was a little over $23. That's a pretty steep price to pay for what was supposed to be a simple lunch. I would definitely come here again, but not on the regular simply based on the high prices.

It's a big restaurant off of a country road with plenty of parking. As of two weeks ago they were doing work on the highway that was kind of unpleasant with grated roads and lane closures but it looks like it will be done soon maybe.... Anyway, it's a large space with a gift shop and shabby chic decor that all appeared to be for sale since everything has a price tag on it even in the restaurant. The service was pleasant enough. The menu has fairly straightforward cafe like offerings of sandwiches and salads. I wanted something light so I opted for the cesar salad in spite of my reservations when it said tomatoes and olives were on it. Weird but whatever chicken, lettuce, croutons and cesar dressing still felt on brand so I went for it. This is not a cesar salad. It was a salad with balsamic dressing of some kind, toasted bread with the crust cut off and a cold chicken breast. And, it comes with bread but I was told they didn't have rye so I ended up with sourdough that was also not sourdough and the waitperson didn't bring it until I was mostly through eating my refrigerator cold chicken. Just, yikes. Additionally, I still don't know how there was rye for my sister's sandwich but I wasn't allowed to order it with my food. As for her lunch, the pastrami was fine but with a lackluster amount of meat. The French onion soup was the only thing that felt reasonable with quality and price. All in all, I think the snack bars or even grocery stores in the area/ Amish country appeared to have better offerings. I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch. The gift shop was cute and reasonably priced so maybe check it out for that but that's it.

I ordered one piece of fish and a New York chicken rice bowl with the red sauce, but I also added a vegan white sauce since I'm dairy free. The chef even gave us a taste of his gumbo which he was selling the next day. The bowl was amazing. Everything was fresh and cooked well. I was really surprised by the size of the piece of fish which was perch as normally perch is not so large. We were joined by a group of family and friends and everyone enjoyed the food from the mac & cheese to the jerk chicken to the fried fish bowl and falafel. If I'm ever back in town, I will definitely stop by. Well, in the shop, I did a little bit of shopping as well and picked up a very cute leaf pottery. I love how it natural it looks, but then it will also match the other leaf pieces I already have. The store has a wide a food on the shelf or in the fridge section plus really pretty crochet, pottery, jewelry, and other items. The store has something for everyone. Finally, we enjoyed the coffee shop which had really delicious lemonades and a number of people in our party also had coffee drink drinks. When back in Wooster this summer for my niece's graduation, I'll be sure to stop in especially if it's a Friday or Saturday for Big D's Soul BQ.

Anyway, I was in town for a baseball game and, after breakfast at a local diner, decided I needed more coffee to power through my day. There was a bit of a line in the store but, for a Saturday morning, that seems reasonable. I ordered my usual: the largest iced coffee they can sell me with raspberry flavoring, skim milk and Splenda. Staff were super nice. The cashier complimented my t-shirt (Broadway musical merch), which makes me smile every time I think about that sweet interaction. The drink was what I expect and what I needed to survive a day that involved a baseball game, lunch with family, and a seven hour drive back to the Chicago suburbs.

Now normally, I don't order a mocha, but it was plain and simple. I just wanted a sweet drink of coffee! The line, for starters, was horribly long. Meaning, the workers were slow as molasses! Now, no shade to the hardly paid teenagers running that shack, but my goodness. The managers could chip in to help? Do they properly train these employees? Dunkin is a decent place, I've been plenty of times to OTHER locations. My expectations have been met every time I've been there! But this one is like hell opened up and shat out the worst type of coffee shop it had to offer. They got my husbands latte order wrong, (seriously, how do you mess up a latte?) got my mocha wrong, and completely forgot the donuts! It wasn't like we ordered something overly complicated, or something micro-specific. It was two basic coffees, with two sprinkled donuts. WHICH, we did not receive. When we went into the Dunkin to ask for a remake of the coffees, and the donuts that we never got, we were only met with hostile faces. Now, these weren't the overworked teenagers that are forced to stay in the back. These were GROWN ADULTS!! The manager was rude, the cashiers were very rude, and it was very dirty! Do not go into this Dunkin if you're looking for a nice sit down coffee and snack. It's crowded, loud, and sticky? Do they even bother to mop their floors? It's almost like the floor is covered with the lost souls of the poor people who dared to complain about their twisted and wrong order. This Dunkin is NOT good. I do NOT recommend it.
