When on opened up we made our way to hold it. The staff there told us not to come over. That's fine, but the way he said it. But we waited. They had no specials for drinks so my brother got a bucket. Absolutely the worst experience I've had. A buddy and I went yesterday afternoon. We sat for 20 mins. Most of the staffed walked by dead faced. No one waited on us until I went to the bar and asked the bartender to have someone come over. The waiter came over, we asked for water and a Coca Cola and lemons. The waiter quickly sat the drinks down and left, no lemons. 20 mins later took our order and I asked for lemons, 20 mins later lemons arrived, 40 mins later the chicken fingers, Fries, Hamburger, fries came, cool. (not sure if they're on a budget but we were given 3 napkins). During the time we ate no follow up to see if things were good or ok, etc. Eventually I asked for more napkins but never got them but noticed that the waiter was very talkative to other customers who were WHITE, laughing and free spirited. Still no NAPKINS. I asked for the bill it came out to be $28. My buddy asked if I was going to leave a tip "yeah $2" because the service was bad, really bad. He said"no", "lead by example and leave a $8 tip, you know what they think of us" (meaning black people leaving horrible tips,). I said most of us leave good tips and why leave a tip period for bad service, they lucky to get $2, so we left $8 in cash. During the time of afternoon. I would say it was about 50-60 people combined both rooms (front part of the restaurant people were playing card games and mingling). Not sure if they were short staffed but no excuse for service without a smile and having people feel unwelcome. I will never patronized this place again. I've been a patron of Woofs for 15 years or so. I've seen some ups and downs, but I've continued to come here. What kept me coming back was that the servers were friendly and made me feel welcome. A few years ago (pre-COVID) I had a string of several bad experiences with service. I go to bars/restaurants to relax, and I found that I often left Woofs in a bad mood due to rude service. Why would I pay good money to be treated poorly? I gradually want from coming here once a week or so to 4-5 times a year. Generally I only come to Woofs when a friend really wants to go there. I'll say that the service generally remains variable. Tonight I decided to give Woofs another shot. I have been here 3-4 times in the last year, and never been particularly impressed. I showed up and it was busy, but not incredibly so. I was by myself, so I walked around the bar to see if there were any seats. There were no bar seats--only empty tables.. So I went back to the door to be seated. There were 6-8 empty tables and nobody else waiting to be seated. The host told me I needed to sit at the bar. When I said there were no empty bar stools, he said that management had rules about not seating singles at a table! I would completely understand if the place was packed with folks waiting for tables, but you won't seat the only waiting customer at one of several empty tables??? When I turned to leave he relented and seated me. I really want to like Woofs, but they make it so d@+n hard! I'm sure I'll be back with friends who still like it here, but I won't venture here again because I want to be here. read more

I was in Atlanta wanting to watch football and I had an absolutely horrendous experience at another sports bar so I came to Woofs out of desperation since it was opening weekend. When I arrived, I asked if a straight man was welcome, and the bartender said of course. I had a delicious French dip sandwich, a few diet cokes and watched the game. Came here with a big group of friends around 8-9PM on Thursday. They have daily specials and Thursday is a $6 burger (which tomato, lettuce, onion + you can pay for other toppings) and a separate Absolut cocktail special. I got the burger with pepperjack cheese and medium rare, which was pretty solid! No complaints and definitely a pretty large portion. We had a very nice server as well. Inside vibes were very nice, which was surprising given the location right off the highway. Lots of indoor seating and it looks like they have a connected building with pool and slots? Pretty chill sports bar inside with lots of TVs with different sports on but definitely not rowdy or loud. Parking lot is fairly cramped so beware but we were all able to find spots. This is a prime hangout spot of ours, and we always like the $6 burgers on Thursdays and the opportunity to see our friends and meet others. They have access to games that many don't because of subscription fees. This is an almost entirely male place that caters to the bear and Daddy community. Over time, the drinks have gotten expensive. They now charge $9.75 for a mixed drink, which is already pretty stiff for a gay bar. When they started the price increase, they would keep the quarter and expect a tip. That meant that if you tipped $1 a drink, they got $1.25. They still do that, and it's dishonest. I don't want the quarter so much as I don't want them to keep it without asking. It's very presumptuous on their part and could drive new business away, which is the last thing anyone wants. They might as well be charging $10 a drink. Regardless, the place is kept clean, including the restrooms, and the food is par for the course for a sports bar. If you plan to stay a while, try to get a seat with a back on it if they're available. The stools without backs are uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. read more

This review is directed towards the nighttime management at Woofs on Monday 1/19/2026. As you know this night was the college football championship, which was on display in the entire restaurant when I arrived. The game was close throughout and looked like it would go down to the very end while approaching Woofs 11pm closing time. By the time the game was finishing at about 11:10pm, most of the staff were well into their closing procedures. When the game finished, there were only about 18-20 people left in the restaurant (mostly Indiana fans). The manager on duty (I believe his name is Steve) was observed by myself and a couple other people arguing with a group of 6-8 fans near the front patio doors. It was observed that he put his middle finger up towards the group, in an aggressive manner. He then walked away, and walked under every television and turned them all off and turned the lights on signaling to the remaining people in the restaurant that it was time to leave. This was extremely rude to the guests that just wanted to enjoy their teams championship for a few more minutes and possibly be able to observe the awarding of the trophy. I asked the bartender (David J) why they were literally running everyone out when it was only 10 minutes after closing. He said that they close at 10pm on Monday's (which was not true) and that it was well after the time to go. Being a restaurant manger for over 25 years, I was shocked at this treatment of a handful of patrons just enjoying their moment. None of the remaining guests were being rowdy, drunk or loud to the point in which management responded. Last call had already been issued around 10:45pm and there was no reason why they wouldn't let the fans enjoy the trophy presentation for maybe 15 more minutes while staff were continuing to do their closing duties. Traffic in Atlanta was awful and the rain was coming down so hard most people were exiting the freeway and Woofs was conveniently located so I pulled in and got in and got to the bar. When I went to check in I noticed this was a gay bar but I just wanted a beer and wait for the traffic and rain to clear and get out and I got great service got to talk to some people next to me and it was a nice atmosphere. This was not a flamboyant bar that makes anyone uncomfortable or new to the same feel unwelcome as the staff was quite attentive in the crowd seem to be somewhat middle-aged or a little older like me and the food was good as well. Tip your waiters good as we all should show a little more kindness these days. i'm not gay but I felt perfectly welcome and was not insecure and have to say it was my first gay bar. So not to put a label on it but it's labeled on the site, good drinks good service good food what can I say. We first attempted to go here on our first night in town-Friday-parking was impossible-some left. We came back Saturday afternoon for lunch-parking was better but not easy. The food was good. One of our party had a hamburger, one a turkey burger and one an impossible burger. All 3 were good as were the sides.. It's a spacious place and the atmosphere was fun. Our server at best was efficient, more gruff and uninterested. He never smiled and wasn't welcoming or pleasant. He answers all questions and offered great suggestions. They are renovating next door for billiards and other fun games so we will definitely be back for that. They have a full bar and good service. Lived next to this place for a year and never went, but I finally decided to drop in. I'm not sure what took me so long! I've had both their fried shrimp and grilled shrimp. Both were phenomenal. The garlic cheese curds are a MUST and the chicken skewers are great too! Parking can be hectic due to the location but the inside is great. Lots of games and TVs. read more

Update: new location, more attentive bartenders. I revisited this place in mid-November 2022. (A friend and I had been there the preceding February and really liked the new vibe of the new place.) When I entered the bar, there was only one stool at the bar that was vacant. The bar was quite full, all of the tables were full, and there was a good crowd. I sat down, ordered a patty melt and onion rings, and a gin and tonic. The food (not your typical bar food, mind you - very fresh and tasty) arrived in a timely fashion, as did the drink, and the bartender could not have been improved upon. I ended up having a couple more drinks while talking to the man to my left - we shared a mutual interest in cars. I did not expect jumbo shrimp at a really good price point! I did try the house ranch and blue cheese, while both were fairly decent, I wouldn't say they were the best I've ever had. The shrimp on the other hand was perfect! The shrimp was crispy, tender and not over seasoned! Also, they served it in this farm house basket that was really cute. The waiter also recommended a Jameson pickle back which was really good! ** this place gets a 5 because the food, the staff and they are following social distancing guidelines. This was my first visit to Woofs since they moved to the new Plaster St. location. We had stopped by once before on a weekend afternoon, not realizing there was a special fundraising event. Took a while to find parking. The crowd was very friendly, yet a bit overwhelming. Today we stopped by for lunch. Plenty of parking, and easy access. When we walked in, Randy at the bar warmly greeted us, and took our drink order. He shared details on the Thursday $5 burger special. He was great - very friendly and welcoming. One of our party had been there before, and Randy seamlessly remembered his favorite drink and lunch choice. I ordered the Santa Fe Salad with blackened chicken. Friends ordered fish tacos and a burger. Other guests were arriving, including a birthday party; a perfect mix of professionals and the local crowd. Nice vibe. Items arrived timely with a smile, and were appropriately hot and/or cold. My salad was superb, and my friends indicated their meals were the same. We also appreciated Ashley, who prepared our meals, circulating in the dining room and chatting with guests. Very impressed today. All aspects aligned seamlessly. I haven't had service this bad in DECADES! We only got any attention from the server after flagging him down. 5. at 8 PM we said, "gotta go, bring us our checks" and were told, we'll box up your food. 6. the server said something along the lines of "oh.... didn't know you guys were on a timeline. 7. This is reflected against the fact all of the other tables along the front window, all served by the same guy, had their food and paid their bills before we got our food. 8. Sorry to say this, but the table with the 4 older guys was ignored in favor of the young, cute guys at neighboring tables. 9. Tell your servers to pay EXTRA attention to the old queens. Woofs is the first gay or even gay friendly bar I have been to. As a woman normally when I go out if a guy talks to me he's trying to hit on me or get in my pants. At woofs I can wear my sexy clothes and not feel like a piece of meat. Yes it's almost all men in the bar. I've been to woofs 2 times with yes my gay friend. He's a regular so he gets a lot of people even the few girls who go to woofs saying hello to him. Everyone is so friendly even the people who you don't know. I was recently at woofs just hanging out w my friend for 5 hours. We talked to a lot of people even strangers. We didn't feel rushed by the servers (although we did have food and he had a drink). I quit drinking but I can see myself hanging out here more often. I would even feel comfy going as a single woman(I'm not single I'm married). I'm going back soon for a bday party and can't wait. Oh ya the Mercer flag on the wall that spot was claimed by my dear friend John mark who put the flag there... Lol. I just graduated Mercer and can't wait to sit at the Mercer table.
