Our 2nd and last watering hole for the eve. One of the reasons we chose this place was due to the plentiful parking and it was off of the beaten path. We were the only patrons in the bar besides another couple. Prices were way more reasonable than Felix's (where we got price gouged) and the manager/bartender (James) was super cool, friendly, and struck up some great conversations with us and he made us feel very warm and welcomed there. Gay dive bar, featuring male go-go dancers/strippers (not nude) who dance on the bar top, a DJ, dance floor, 3 pool tables, and an outdoor patio. Diverse crowd of all ages, and straight friendly. This is my brother's regular hangout, and my wife and I have visited many times over the years. They have a full bar, but I feel that the beer and cocktail prices are on the expensive side, and bartenders can be a little snobby. There is a cover charge ($10), but as many times as I've been here over the years, it seems to be collected indiscriminately. All in all, a fun local establishment worth checking out. read more

This place was fun! Great music, fun atmosphere, and large patio space. The owner seems to have a horrible attitude and greets everyone rudely at the bar. Also my suspicion's were confirmed when I witnessed someone attempt to close their tab only to be contacted by their bank stating that this is a high risk establishment. Ofcourse the customer was treated extremely disrespectfully by the owner who had an attitude which may lead one to believe that he doesn't want to be there. I too have received notifications from bank when using my card here. I once used a card from my credit union and even though they paid the transaction I received an email stating that my current card was closed and that a new one was in the mail. If you're able to use cash I would suggest doing so. I'd give the establishment a B+ for fun atmosphere and a D- for customer service. read more

The bartenders are nice but the drink prices are more than double most places (a shot of cosamigos was $17, a rail drink was $10). Kinda crazy since they have ALOT of strippers/dancers; you'd think that would be the money maker. Instead most of the strippers looked they were as INFLATED at their waste lines, as the drink prices. Dancers on the long bar and along the sides, a decent billiards area, nice side bar (with a super-friendly bartender) and good music make this a nice bar to start off your evening. I went here for the first time yesterday and stood at the host stand for a few minutes until my friend decided to look around the corner where he was greeted by the bartender with "what do you guys want?" My friend was actually looking to work here and when he told the bartender, he just rolled his eyes and handed him the application and told us to bring it back later. What a disaster of a place. One bartender. No orange juice or cranberry juice, two of the most common mixers. Go go dancers were listless, bored, and not at all attractive. One of the gogos even worried about his photo being taken, when no photo was taken of him. Perhaps he was absolutely embarrassed that he worked there. The few customers in there were a tell tale sign that this bar was a total disaster. It should close immediately. Horrible excuse for a bar. I was there with my boyfriend for a first time visit. We should have known better when on a Saturday night, only a handful of people inside. Older gogo dancers trying to dance on the bar and 1 bartender working that night. The bartender was out of most mixers. I was a little off put by the size of the bar. My friends took me there because they said the bar was nice, despite what I had heard about it. Then, I ordered a drink and hung out. One of the employees walked past and I told him his tattoo was awesome. He told me if I wasn't paying him then I didn't need to talk to him. Oh Lordy... where to start. Okay, first of all, BJ (which is the only name you will see on the outside, even though the Roosters is still part of the name) is located right next door to the Tara theater. Quite an interesting location, as it is in a retail shopping park, so it kind of sticks out a little in my opinion. I guess you can pop into Publix to get some tic tacs after hitting the bar? Now for the skinny on the establishment. I went with some friends to BJ Roosters (which, how much gayer could you get than basically naming something Blow Job Cocks?) one Friday night for a friend's birthday, and I was a little taken aback by his initial proclamation that there may or may not be strippers that night. Great. And guess what; there were strippers that night. I am a lucky person, eh? Well, if you don't know me, you will at least know this about me now; I am not a big fan of strippers. They make me uncomfortable. If you like them, and that is your thing, FANTASTIC! I am happy for you. In fact, here, take the attention that they want to lavish on me; you can have it. Boys in their undies gyrating in a bar above me while I order my vanilla vodka and diet just doesn't "work me up", if you know what I mean. That being said, and since it was for my friend's birthday, I braved the crowded, tiny bar area, and managed to get a bartender's attention and ordered a drink. Hey, alcohol solves lots of problems, and it sure as hell is the only thing that was going to fix this situation. Now, this is where things improved; the bartender was gorgeous. Seriously, I was lusting after him all night. He was very attentive and a great bartender too. If I go back, I really hope that he is there. Anyway... I am getting distracted. Where was I? Oh yeah! (BTW, the Bartender accounts for 2 of those stars... ) So, the bar is kind of small, and the smoke is THICK. The bathrooms are kind of smelly (like bleach), and the bar is just, well, interesting. The crowd tends to be much older, and there was a lot of voyeurism and "selling it" if you know what I mean. No, I don't think that they were sex workers, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them asked guys to meet them outside. Fortunately, I made it out that night unscathed. The drinks were strong, and I had a good time with my friends. I would NOT go to this bar alone, and probably would not go again without being dragged there; again, strippers... not my thing. However, if that IS your thing, you are in luck, because this is the place for you. They don't get all of the way naked, which made me a little more comfortable, but whatever. It was quite fun to watch the one tweaked out twink (ha!) try and dance on the bar all night long... there were MANY moments when we were wondering if he would just fall off of the bar, but alas, that did not happen. Here's how I'd sum-up the "new" BJs: Go-go bar meets old, converted mexican restaurant. I have to say, I miss the old BJs - you know, that narrow-as-a-hole-in-the-wall spot, next to the Tara theater. The one that looked deceptively like a butch sports bar from the outside. There is significantly more space at the new BJs, with three separate sections of the bar for the boys to rotate through, and an additional back "platform" across from the bar area. The remnants of the old mexican restaurant, however, completely detract from the seedy-sports-bar-jock theming that the other location pulled off well. Thankfully, drinks are pretty strong, athough they have a $10 minimum for credit card charges. There are pool tables off to one side of the place, multiple flat screens throughout so you can catch up on Drag Race episodes, reality TV, the news, etc. Adjacent to the pool tables are a few curtained booths for those who want to pay for some "private dances." This is no SR by any means, but it doesn't aim to be that at all. There's no full-on nudity, it's just boys in their skivvies on bar tops, but no cover either - so you can't really complain. I've only been on weekends, and I can say that the "quality" of the dancers is decent enough (some of the negative reviews here may be from weeknight experiences, when the place is likely understaffed or something). Some of the boys are friendly and open to striking up a conversation about their college classes, workout routine, and/or upcoming trips to Mexico - without being obvious in digging for a tip. Crowd is generally men, from all walks of gay, which is a huge plus for me. There's nothing more that I hate than screaming chicks and bachelorette parties at gay bars. With a name like "BJ Roosters," you can't really expect it to be any less seedy than it is. But that's the appeal. It hits the spot as a low-key place for a stiff drink where you can take in some eye candy without having to spend the big bucks at a place like SR. Go in with those expectations (and knowing you'll probably want to shower and wash your clothes after), and you'll walk out one satisfied dude. read more

I experienced this place by mistake when a friend and I were going to the movies, but arrived too early so wanted to get a drink instead. We were a tad surprised, but I am always game for seedy. The dancers are very attractive and the staff was quite nice. Plus very strong and cheap drinks. All in all there was potential for BJs to be a nice go-go bar.... Yet, the reasoning for only giving two stars is the other clientele. Perhaps it was the night we happened to go (a random weekday evening), but the other clientele were rude and sketch. Was a little annoyed at the drink prices... but figured it was in the city so it was par for the course. Overlooked that even after ordering the food, which was old, stale, and pretty sure left over from the previous day. And, honestly, I could overlook all of that until it came to the dude at the front door. Came with a buddy who is active duty, and he gave the doorman his active duty ID card, to which the doorman said, "is this a valid ID?" Seriously?! Even after I pointed out it was a federally issued, military ID, the dude gave me lip and said he had to "validate" its authenticity. Been here a few times. Really, the best gay "dancers" bar around Atlanta. They had some good bartenders as well, and Lance makes an excellent Greek salad. Unfortunately, they never seem to have any mead, though, which is a major disappointment for a mead enthusiast like myself. Fortunately, Atlanta has lots of Ethiopian restaurants which carry beautiful imported African gold... so there's always mead nearby, really. The dancers were fun and well sexy. This place is eh, okay. The staff is friendly. The owner is friendly. The venue is very small and limited, and the Dancers are not cute. Some people around Midtown call the dancers here Swinging Richards rejects or illegals immigrants. I can see that. When I go to this place is to see my friends for a hot second and then move on. I'm not gonna lie. I love BJ Roosters! None of my Atlanta friends ever visited so we all became virgins together. It's easy to find. Just find Tara Theater and it's literally right next door. The place its really small tho. I got fooled by the wall long mirror. In the back is a pool table and gaming area. There is only 1 bathroom with 2 stalls. In the front are 4 booths with curtains (more about that later). I ordered a rum and coke and I don't remember the drink being strong like the other reviewers said. But it wasn't weak. Now for the reason why you would come here. For the strippers!!!! The entire bar is lined up with strippers dancing away for tips. I'm surprised there were room to put our drinks down. They don't go all nude like Swinging Richards but enough to tease you. Depending on the guy you might be able to give it a squeeze squeeze when you put a tip in their briefs/undies. I think if you give them a little extra something something they take you to the front for a private lap dance in one of those booths. But I wouldn't call it private. The booths have sheer curtains where you can see through and goes only half way down. So they grind you, sit on your face, rub all over you, that kind of stuff. No nudity or sex. Some of the guys are pretty decent. Some are better than others. I wonder if I we went on Latin night or something cuz there was some cute latinos. I think some of them were straight too. Gay for pay. I can tell by looking into their eyes and seeing their disconnect with the patrons. It was one of the more sexually charged bars so I enjoyed it. Good mix of crowd. Slightly older crowd with a handful of ANF college students and a handful of latin twinks and another handful of what I would call daddies type. Odd mix huh? But it works well there. I will go back with lots of dollar bills next time I make it back to ATL. Oh yeah.... the dancers often use on of the stalls to "fluff" them back to hardness in the bathroom. I use to go to the other bars in town all the time. After BJ's moved their location they really made it feel like your neighborhood gay bar with the friendly service and very personable go-go dancers. Haven't had private dance yet but will one day since there's no pressure. It's so much fun, the Owners: Bobby & John are very conscious about their customer service, the bar staff is the best in town! Plus... "I'm in love with a stripper." The owners have no concept of customer service, if you have any issue with the bar, you are wrong and they are right. Don't let the door hit your ass. They exploit the dancers, making them pay $30 per night just to work there. The drinks are among the highest in gay Atlanta, also their selection is very shoddy, many popular brands like Smirnoff and Skyy, they don't carry. If you have any complaint to make, they will boot you out. The dancers have been gradually going down in quality over time. Save your money. read more
