I went here with a buddy for drinks and ended up having the time of my life and it was my first time at a gay bar. I've lived in Atlanta almost my whole life and yes this was a first. I met a lot of cool individuals and chatted over drinks, in between dance breaks. It was so welcoming and a safe vibe to be in. I felt like I'd been missing out for so long not attended gay bars. The bartenders were cool and the establishment was clean, organized and had great music. Parking is tricky, but luckily I found street parking RIGHT out front. I think this place is a little over-hyped. They boast drag shows multiple days a week, but there isn't a stage. It's just crowded on the bar floor... The staff wasn't very friendly. The ATM was broken. The upstairs bar/patio was closed. I've been here a few times, but since discovering Atlanta Eagle, that will be my new "go to" place in the city. This is a fantastic LGBTQ bar in Atlanta. The vibe is totally on. The bartenders are awesome - very attentive, friendly, personable. I was in Atlanta by myself on a trip, and stopped in for a drink. It was a Saturday night, and it seemed that most people that were there knew someone already. So I felt uncomfortable talking to anyone. Works for them though pretty well area people are nice but some can get groppy (talking to gay men (I'm gay)) ... Coworker and I landed here after a show at the Roxy. Super fun atmosphere with cute decor. No COVID safety protocols in place. Located in Midtown's gayborhood. Cover was $5 on a Tuesday night. Utterly overflowing with people on the first floor, second floor had a little more breathing room (and a balcony smoking area). Both are decked out in vibrant neon lights and lanterns. My Moscow mules were delish. Perfect balance of vodka and ginger beer. And cheap-- only about $7. Bartenders skillfully navigate the sheer volume of people ordering nonstop, still staying friendly and professional. Community is lovely, a few random folks checked in on me when my coworker left for the bathroom to make sure I was ok alone. Only issue is that the bathrooms....... Real nasty. Appreciate that they're genderless, but jeez the hygiene is not there. Everything else was fine. Apparently have drag shows Fridays! Will need to come back and send some love to local queens. read more

This is a staple in the Atlanta gay scene (30+ years) and is a good bar to get started at, but will quickly get crowded as the night goes on. It has a good energy, but it can be a bit much if you want something low key. There are two floors with more of the dancing happening on the upper floor. They serve food until about 9 pm so if you want to get something to nom on be sure to do before the kitchen closes. My party came a bit later so unfortunately we weren't able to get any noms. Next time though! Other than that, they are opened until 3 am so get your Vodka and Soda and enjoy the drag shows and dance out to the music! read more

Have you ever been at a bar and paid for a round of drinks, then when the tab came, you told the bartender "No I want to buy the round of drinks, not just MY drink" and then she says "this IS the entire round" and then your jaw drops down to the floor and it's super super hard to pick it back up again? That's Blakes. And the drinks are cheap. Even when it's top shelf. Like $12 cheap for two drinks. Wow. My jaw is still down there. Blakes has a lot of different spaces. The downstairs bar, the upstairs bar, the upstairs outside area. The bathrooms are, wow, really disgusting. And are no gender. I decided to wait to go elsewhere. But then again.. it's bar. I just moved here and I've got to say the staff needs some work. Except for Amir he's a professional. The bartenders downstairs are very pretentious and unfriendly as a person who doesn't drink alcohol. Other than Amir who's a professional The staff tends to make me wait a long time or completely ignore me when they realize I'm only drinking ginger beer or coke. As a consequence I haven't been back there for a week and won't spend much of my time there anymore. read more

Came here to pick up a boy but the prospects were pretty Blake's. I mean Bleak. Actually both. It's a pretty spectacular Gay Club in Atlanta with several levels and tons of different rooms. They play some really great music, and when I was in here close to Christmas time the whole place was singing Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You - especially the backing vocalist parts (and ayyyyyyyyyahahayyyyyy). It was pretty sweet. Kudos to the cop out front who let me park illegally since it was late at night. Maybe he was hitting on me. Unfortunately nobody in the club was but that's life. If I can give this place a 0 star review I would. The bartender Emir is rude and disrespectful. He does not know how to treat customers with respect. Emir is not capable of handling a lot of customers and lashes out at customers when he is overwhelmed. He really needs to work on his attitude as it does not reflects back to what Blake's used to represent. Blake's used to be a safe space and Emir really threatens the values. We want to go to Blake's to have a great time, not to be treated unfairly by a guy who can't give good customer service. Lacks communication skills, if there are people waiting to be served the decent thing to do is say "I will be with you in just a moment." A group of us believe he is not fit to be a bartender/associate at Blake's. Amongst other things he does not follow health protocols as he was seen coming out the restroom without washing his hands and mad when confronted about it. So think twice on who is making your drinks. Before my encounter with him, I was helped out by the bartenders upstairs and they did a great job making my drinks. Awesome gay bar. They have a full service bar downstairs and upstairs. They have a gender neutral bathrooms which was pretty awesome to see. The bathroom has two way mirrors so you can see out into the bar. They also serve bar food at the bar downstairs which is really nice. Bar was nice and people and bartenders were all friendly too. They did a temperature check at the door but almost no one inside was wearing masks other than staff so if that might be a concern for you I would maybe go once things with covid have calmed down or go to the upstairs area. From an out of towner's perspective, this place is super clique-ey. Bartenders were relatively sterile to us, not bad and not un-friendly, but not friendly... just there. Not a bad place, but definitely seems to be the kind of place where if you don't have friends there, you likely won't make any as no one, including the staff, seems to care if you're there or not. Dear Blakes on the park and community, on Sunday September 1st, I got attacked by a guy who happens to be good friend of the manager Emir at Blakes on the park apparently because I landed on him after being pushed to the ground loosing balance and the he started yelling at me like we knew each other and then punch me on the face after arguing, why would you go to a public establishment if u can't be around people?. I called the police they didn't even make a simple report from the issue and the guy didn't even got kicked out from the bar after hit me that's how disappointing that place is where we all spend tons of money and time and the staff members couldn't care less, on top of that same staff were there on Tuesday 13th when I also got bashed by another guy and the same manager Emir and another gentleman with a mature looking were there and didn't care about my safety and claimed as I was responsible for the acts like I started the problems just cuz I tried to defend myself, these staff is BEYOND selfish and completely unprofessional overall careless, they care more about who is going to tip them better than an individual safety in that place, I've been going to Blakes for the past 5 years of my life and been bringing innumerable amount of friends there recommending this place as a great atmosphere to hang out at, even claiming the place as a safe environment to hang out but let me UNDO that at once by saying is no longer a safe place anymore what it used to be nor a great place to be at. Atlanta is going low on gay businesses due these problems and inconveniences not managed appropriately or they cannot hold a good security and restrict the aggressive people with proper justice. Even tho they have cameras he claimed the footage shows the problematic one was me is insane how someone that got punched on the face First is the problematic one completely disappointing and beyond off of ethic. People post multiple videos and they even make them about how the community should stay united to each other and "love each other" no hate advertisements and other things related that this bar supports that's a total lie, waste and a joke cuz nobody cares in this bar honestly, people have lost completely the warming touch of being nice and humble these days. I'm not trying to put myself as a defenseless person cuz I'm not, even the best fighter in the world is just as much human as I am, is just to see so much people careless, envious, vicious and mad all the time in this place what made see what I've been missing all this time. The manager Emir texted me over Facebook the day after saying that Ive getting in so much troubles all the time let me say one thing in 5 years I've been coming to this bI had never been involved in scandals like these and what made it even worst is that he restricted me for 60 days when I was the one attacked twice in less than a month. Horrible attitude and thrilling way to address it. People is really good at getting mad about little things and upset about their selfish wishes when they are not done the way they want to, the management of this bar is incredibly entitled to their own but honestly is the same hate and they forget that is another person who is taking all that cuz they can't remember that everyone has feelings. Nobody is safe out there but why to feel like that in a spot where we are supposed to be united to each other as community. Sad very sad. Dear Blakes on the park I'm going to miss you but you just lost my entire respect and not to mention my business. Sitting at the intersection of 10th Street and Piedmont that now features the famed rainbow crosswalks, sits Blake's. Known as just Blake's to the people who know it best, this place is an institution in the gay scene of Atlanta, more specifically that of Midtown. I personally have been coming to Blake's for over 10 years and while you grow tired of it at times, you always come back! Blake's features two levels, two bars - one on each level, and a lot of people with attitudes, some fierce, some b*tchy, but most happy bc they are there! One part of the bar, the bottom level, sits along 10th street. This area features a large circle shaped bar, the DJ booth and the combined dance/drag show performance area. Depending on what time of day/night you arrive is dependent on what is going on at the time. Upstairs, which is off of Piedmont, features a smaller circular bar and access to two outdoor patio's that are simply fantastic given the right weather here in Atlanta. While I have had hit and miss service during busy times, you cant hold that too much against the folks behind the bar. You got a lot of really touchy, feely, flirty folks trying to get a drink and a number...so, I give them a little slack when it takes a tad longer to get to me. Overall, Blake's is one of those places in the gay community of Atlanta that if you haven't been to, then you haven't done gay Atlanta. I have and will continue to enjoy my nights out in Midtown with a brief...or prolonged stop at Blake's! read more

Bartenders are over pouring then being aggressive. The bouncer is having roid rage and jumped me at the door while I was leaving.They are responsible for intoxicated guests if they continued to serve drinks then physically attack the same person they have just over poured. This is typical of this place, please be advised to not go here if you are by yourself, the meat head staff will target you. This is not a safe place for young gay men to be. Went to Blake's last night and had such an amazing time! There's no cover charge and on Friday nights they have the most amazing drag show! The drag show started @ 11pm and went on until about 12am. They have an upstairs, downstairs, and patio bar with a variety of drinks you can choose from - cocktails, beer, wine, or liquors. (Might I add they're strong too! Which was awesome!) After the Drag show ended my group ended up dancing the night away! They had a badass DJ who could really spin and transition music beautifully. There's no cover charge, 21+ crowd ONLY, and they have security wondering around to ensure a safe environment. The staff was very professional, friendly, and even suggested a couple drinks we should try. If you're looking for a great night out either by yourself or with your friends - Blake's is the place to go! read more

This is one of my favorite bars in Atlanta! Yes the music is quirky but it's such a fun atmosphere. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced. I also enjoy sitting by the window and people watching. I love that they have "everybody" bathrooms as well! This is a "come as you are bar" so no need to dress up just have a good time! read more

I go to Blake's often to socialize and dance with friends. My experiences are typically good ones, but this particular time was horrid. MUSIC: The music is mostly pop with a couple of throwbacks songs. Occasionally they throw in a hip-hop or reggae-ton song, but it's only one before they go back to pop. I'd like to see more diversity in the music. VENUE: on Fridays and Saturdays the downstairs area is always packed. It's sort of obnoxious how people will force themselves into a small space within the crowd and party. You can always go upstairs, but the music isn't nearly as good/loud. BAR: I always have difficulty getting a drink at Blake's. The other day I was at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to get served and the bartender with the lion tattoo on his arm saw me multiple times. I waited patiently till my friend walked up next to me. He instantly stopped and asked for my friends drink order (my friend looks white). My friend told the bartender I had been waiting there before him, he looked at me and told my friend "I'm serving you". My friend had to order my drinks for me to get served. I can't see that as anything, but racist. After reading the reviews, I understand this is business as usual. Extremely disappointing. If you're a minority I would recommend going on Tuesday or taking your money to Bulldogs. PARKING: Parking is on the street and it's always hard to find a spot. I would recommend using a ride sharing app if possible to save you the hassle. Overall, Blake's perpetuates everything I dislike about gay nightlife. I definitely will not be spending money here. I've been to tons of gay clubs over the country and they all feel like a community. At Blake's you don't get that feeling. I don't really have much of a barometer when it comes to comparing gay bars to others, but the last time I went to one I freaking slayed Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize." (Come at me, bro.) That happened about five years ago. So yeah, I don't know much. But when your queer homegirl comes into town and wants to check out the ATL's LGBTQ scene, I immediately thought of Blake's. Why? Well, it's literally right across the street from me. Anyways, my humble take: ***** I. ATMOSPHERE/ DECOR Upon entering, you'll notice that the crowd, composed of predominately white gay men and straight women celebrating their respective engagements, will probably be gettin' hella crunk to truly awful Brittany Spears remixes that's paired with a rainbow laser light show. The main square room has a large bar in the middle, and it's just... really uncomfortable. And by uncomfortable, I mean that there's lots of craziness going on in a very small space. Examples: -Dudes being aggressively grabby along the bar and crazily making out and humping one another, without the concern of others nearby. -That one girl who had too much to drink and can't stay upright in her high-heels, who literally falls into other people and knocks them over. -The very tall and strong woman who pushed my friend out of the way while saying, "Uh uh, honey. That's mine," while going after the only chubby Asian dude (me) in the bar. -Did I mention the Brittany Spears remixes paired with the rainbow laser light show? Yeah, that. So, what's my advice? Get really hammered before visiting and wear shoes that you don't mind people stepping on. And if you arrive sober, consider taking some shots of truly disgusting apple-flavored Crown Royal because you don't know any better. When in Rome, right? ....RIGHT? (Damn it, Vi. That was awful.) But seriously, don't hangout in their main room. Take the ascending stairs in the back--past the bathrooms--to the second floor. It's a lot more chill, has more space, and it doesn't feel like you're heavily tripping on laced acid. There's also a nice enclosed patio with low-hanging lights, too. It's ideal for talking (not shouting), and there's an exit to Blake's parking lot. (That's right, you don't have to walk through the inferno that is the main room.) II. SERVICE Regarding theirservice, the bartender didn't roll his eyes when my friend Vi requested apple flavored Crown Royal. But he should have. Seriously, though, he was a very nice guy. III. OVERALL If you're a straight man with a queer friend that's trying to figure out where to bring him or her, then Blake's might serve as an adequate option; however, just know that all your senses will be overloaded, like watching a Japanese anime movie in the dark while drinking Four Loco and munching on shrooms. I love going to gay bars about as much as I love getting a root canal. Still, when Empress Kathleen says you're going out, you don't say no. It's pretty much guaranteed to be a good time. Add in a little David K (who seems to pretty much know every last gay in town), and Blake's entertainment value goes from decent to uproarious. Although one typically goes for the heavily-sauced beverages served in wimpy plastic cups* to get into the mood, I opted for some more low-key beer. I shoulda figured... it's a gay bar. They offer a selection of bottled "lite" everything. Ew. So... Corona it was! But, really... quality of booze products isn't the draw here, anyway. I'm pretty sure I've never witnessed a live drag show that parallels this one, orchestrated by a masterful maestroette. Between jiggly obese performers, acrobatic back walkovers, and even one performer with a set of true double-X chromosomes, this drag performance throws in the kitchen sink. A scene without excessive judgment, reasonably-priced beer, and an eyeful of men that look convincingly like women -- all this with friends on a Thursday night. Not much beats that. P.S. To the sketchy guy who totally ground up against me while I was navigating the crowd back to my people after using the loo... not cute, and not flattering. Had an alright experience here. It's a nice space. There's a deck section for smokers. Or, if there are no smokers- just a deck space to relax. As the other reviews mention, the bartenders were fairly inattentive. It was also early enough in the night that they weren't really overwhelmed. I would probably go back to give them another chance. But for future trips to Atlanta, I might roll the dice somewhere else, first. The prices felt very reasonable. read more

It hurts me to write this, but as the Duke of Blake's on the Park I feel the responsibility to speak up. It kinda sucks here now. Maybe I'm just having a bad day. Maybe I'm just getting older (I'll be 30 in November). Maybe... well, maybe I'm right. Anyway, they don't open until 3 PM on weekdays, so it takes that much longer to get things going. Blake's has always been my go-to spot for everything - especially when I want to have a cute time. Where's the first place I turn to when I need to get cheered up on a Monday afternoon? Blake's. Now it's lost its luster. Nights are still interesting, somewhat... They install a stage for the drag shows now (no more worrying about walking through the show, not that I was ever that disrespectful). Oh Blake's! You can't not come here if you're partying in Atlanta. Drinks are strong, boys are cute. And they are bring-your-girl-friends friendly, which I of course appreciate. Downstairs is a crush - like, shoulder-to-shoulder, where-is-my-foot-landing-next - but upstairs there is generally a little more breathing room. Smoking allowed upstairs on the patio, and you can also make a quick getaway through the back door on the second level. Blake's is a place you just kind of end up, and that's okay. The bartender on the lower level that always looks mad completely ignored me because he provided drinks to people he knew before anyone else. After waiting for an extended amount of time we went upstairs where the bartender was nice. Why have a bartender that is mad to be there. After a table moved, my party went to sit at the table just vacated and the "bouncer" came by and grabbed my arm to tell us we couldn't sit there. We asked why and the "bouncer" told us that another table was there but they were getting a drink. Never have I seen an employee tell a party they couldn't sit in an unreserved table after the party had moved. I informed the bouncer to not touch me. They, in response say they would kick me out. I asked to speak to Mark, the manager. He proceeded to say that because, after the situation took place, the bouncer who was egging me on, I gave the finger to, was inappropriate, he refused to acknowledge how messed up it was for the bouncer to grab and touch me. He offered to do nothing and took the side of the bouncer to no surprise. I would caution all patrons to be careful of the emotionally disturbed bouncer and the manager who refused to hold the bouncer accountable from physically assaulting patrons. read more

I was visiting from out of town when a local lesbian recommended Blake's On The Park for libations. Apparently, this place consisted of two floors, but we were definitely mesmerized by the drag queens on the first floor that we missed the second floor. Most of the drag queens were quite entertaining. The drinks were relatively inexpensive, but then they did serve them in tiny plastic cups. I noticed that some of the other guys were carry around lighted cups but I suppose that was probably from upstairs.
