I stopped by 309 Social in downtown Atlanta to grab some food and ended up staying for the vibe. It has a really fun, friendly atmosphere and feels like the kind of place where you can come for food and drinks but still have something to do while you hang out. They have games like Uno and Jenga, TVs throughout the space, and they even give out free shots if you can make a basketball shot, which I thought was a fun touch. For food, I got the burger with tater tots and both were really good. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the tots were hot and crispy. Definitely solid bar food and I would order both again. I also had a Sidecar made with D'USSÉ that was good and paired well with everything. I ordered an orange and Mighty Freeze hookah. Initially, I really liked the flavor, but the hookah wasn't heating up properly. The staff did come over and fix the heat, which I appreciated, but unfortunately once it was smoking properly, the flavor was off and wasn't nearly as good as it was initially. That was probably the most disappointing part of my visit. Service overall was friendly, and I liked the energy of the place. This location has lived several lives since I've been in Atlanta. I'd been seeing the Instagram ads and promoter invites in my inbox for this latest spot and was waiting for the right opportunity to check it out. Our waitress was so sweet and patient, but unfortunately I didn't get her name. She was great throughout our visit, including when we ran into one of my biggest frustrations: there's a 45-minute to hour-long transition from brunch to dinner, but we weren't made aware of it until it was too late to order from the brunch menu. A little heads-up when we sat down would have made a big difference. Our waitress did give us complimentary mimosas, which was a nice touch. I'm NOT a mimosa girlie, so the fact it was juice-heavy didn't bother me. But if you prefer a mimosa where you can actually taste the champagne, you may be disappointed. The music definitely depends on the crowd. There was a game at Mercedes Benz that afternoon, so when we first arrived, the playlist was more pop and not the vibe we were looking for after a morning of partying. Once that crowd cleared out, the music shifted to hip-hop and R&B, and the energy immediately felt more like what I expected. I ordered the chicken nachos. They had a mustardy flavor that I didn't love, but overall they were okay. The chicken was well seasoned, there was a good amount of toppings, and the chips had a solid crunch. A couple things I did appreciate: free three-hour parking in the attached garage and they do a fun shots segment where you can try to make a basket and get a free shot if you make it. I came to 309 social for a viewing party. 309 social is set in a prime location near Mercedes Benz stadium in the castleberry hill neighborhood. They have a variety of items on their menu. I got a 6 piece wing in honey garlic that was pretty tasty. I should have gotten some fries to go with it, lol. My drink was pretty tasty however when my friend attempted to order a margarita with a specific tequila they were sold out of anything that was not a well tequila (this is why they are missing a star). Otherwise a pretty decent option if you're looking for a sports bar in the area. There is parking next door in a secure deck and they do validate parking. read more

Cam Newton's brother is the manager of this place with its mandatory gratuity of 18% for two or less people. I guess they think Covid is still a thing. The SUV pic I posted, is his vehicle which is ILLEGALLY parked. He gets ticketed regularly by parking enforcement but continues to park here while obstructing traffic on Nelson St despite plenty of legal parking. Well shots are $5 for happy hour. There is music being played, I assume they have a DJ some nights. It's a cozy atmosphere for solo or group outings. It is card only, don't bring cash! Free 3 hr parking in the garage next to the spot. The service was good but the server didn't know what the specials were for the day. First the rules here make no sense. They have a brunch ONLY menu until 3pm and then the kitchen closes until 3:45. On the regular menu are most of the same items on the brunch menu but you can't order them- wings and tacos are the only exception. Here's why this makes no sense: the brunch menu has fish and grits, the regular menu has fish and fries but you can't order it. You can however order the fish and grits and get fries on the side. Literally no sense. It's the SAME thing. In addition, they don't serve regular grits. Smh. Everyone does not like cheese in their grits! Next - we came in at 2:35, we didn't get our drinks until 3:15. Almost an hour for a $60 patron flight. Bc of all the red tape with the brunch menu and kitchen closing til 3:45, we both ended up ordering wings. Smh. Two 6 pc wings, 3 tacos, and a patron flight and the total was $130. $130 for 12 wings, 3 tacos and a patron flight. Smh. While we were waiting for the drinks, a couple came in and were seated, their server didn't come over until around 15 mins later and told them the kitchen was closed. They got up and left. Sad to sit 15 mins only to be told the kitchen is closed. They shouldve been told that before they were seated. Never need to come back here. But as a business owner I'd like to give a word to the owner: closing your kitchen for nearly an hour daily is insane. Not only are you missing money but there is nothing on the menu that cant be prepped during brunch and ready to go at 3pm. How about leave your menu open all day and offer a discounted, smaller portion brunch menu?!? Anything other than closing the kitchen for an hour. Over priced and average food. While visiting Atlanta for the weekend, we went to the World of Coca-Cola before meeting friends at 309 Social in Atlanta. When we arrived, we were excited to see friends and watch the 1st week of NFL Sunday Football. The bouncer said, "You can't bring drinks inside". Makes sense. We bought a souvenir cup while at World of Coca-Cola right before we arrived at 309 Social. I understood and drank my drink at the door to show it was/is empty. After taking about 5 gulps in front of the bouncer, he said, "You can't bring that cup inside". What? You just watched me drink all of my drink and show you it's empty. It's a keepsake cup that we purchased while visiting and more importantly, it's empty. Image and video attached to this review. Well, thanks for making me gulp my drink all so you can say, "You still can't come in with that 'empty" plastic cup. I'm more annoyed that they thought it was funny to see me drink it all in front of them to comply with their rule while I agreed to (hence drinking my drink outside before entering), but to watch me drink it and wait till I finished it to then say, "No, you can't go in with that now empty cup"? The restaurant from the outside smelled like really strong hookah coals and there were only around 6 customers inside at 1 pm, the start of football. No worries, told our friends they wouldn't let me in and asked why so we all went somewhere else. The positive, a Waymo (self-driving vehicle) picked us up to take us to another sports bar. That experience (traveling to another sports bar by a self-driving vehicle for the very 1st time) calmed me down a bit, and not to promote a different establishment- that isn't my goal, nor is it right within my review about 309 Social ONLY, but I will say, the other bar had a much better atmosphere and also, really good food and customer service. It's downtown Atlanta, you have a lot of places to choose from. If you choose to go here, cool, but I will say.. I had a horrible experience and was really thankful of how the afternoon turned out, going to another bar where we all had so much fun to make up for the 309 Social experience! Also didn't leave smelling like hooka for the rest of the evening! Thank you other sports bar for saving our afternoon and football-watching experience in Atlanta! Checked this place out because of an IG video about happy hour and a video I saw that had a swing at the bar. I must've missed that somehow because I didn't see it. Anywho, we came in on a Friday night. Parked up the street. Didn't know about the validation parking at the parking deck nearby. Security check as you step into the spot. After a few minutes and seeing waitresses pass us by without saying anything we decided to seat ourselves. That's when someone finally came over and moved us to another seat. Pretty bright in there. TV's on the walls for sports. Good amount of people socializing/eating. They have big card games and a big connect four game for use. We ordered drinks and appetizers because the menu is very limited. Loaded fries w/ground beef/wings/tator tots all decent. Our waitress was friendly but the service was kinda slow. My biggest gripe was this lemon drop shot that cost $22. That's ridiculous! the shot was the size of my pinky. which means I didn't get a full shot because it's a mixed drink made into a shot. read more

Came in yesterday for happy hour and had a really frustrating experience. I initially waited at the bar, but the bartender was extremely slow. Thinking a table might be quicker, I went to the host stand and stood there for over 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging me or offering to seat me, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. I eventually went back to the bar, where it took more than 20 minutes for the bartender to make my drink after finally taking my order. At that point, I asked to cancel it because the wait had been so long and I was ready to leave. Despite that, the drink was still brought out, and I then had to wait another 20 minutes just to be cashed out. If I could give 309 Social zero stars, I would. My wife and I had a 4:00 PM reservation--which we showed up for on time--only to be treated like an inconvenience from the second we walked in. The hostess "seated" us by pointing at a QR code without saying a single word, apparently too bothered to actually explain the menu process. We sat there for 20 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant while a group of waitresses sat right behind us, completely ignoring our table to gossip about their weekends. It is pathetic that there were more staff members than customers, yet not a single person had the decency to offer us water, let alone take a drink order. To make matters worse, the waitresses actually started snickering and laughing at us while we sat there waiting for service. It wasn't just lazy; it was blatantly disrespectful and hostile. When we finally had enough and got up to leave, the hostess had the audacity to ask if something was wrong in the most condescending, demeaning tone possible. We didn't even give her the satisfaction of an answer--we just walked out. Save your money and your dignity. This place is a joke, and the staff's "mean girl" attitude is a complete embarrassment to the Atlanta food scene. I will never set foot in this dumpster fire again. read more

Social 309 is a place I will never return to. While the food was amazing, the service was absolutely awful--and that's what ruined the entire experience. Our food and drinks came out randomly, and we never received everything we ordered. I had to repeatedly remind the waitress that items were missing, and even then, she would bring only one drink at a time. When the check arrived, we were charged for items we never received, which made the situation even worse. On top of that, we were never informed that the restaurant is card-only. They claimed there was a sign on the door--but realistically, who is actually reading signs on the door when entering a restaurant? This should have been communicated by the waitress or the doorman before we were served. Instead of trying to help us find a solution, the waitress and security staff gave us attitudes because we had cash. They were rude and dismissive, even throwing the cash back onto the table as if we weren't trying to pay at all. Overall, it was a terrible first--and last--experience.
