Local Beer
Michael G.

Typical neighborhood gay bar that looks like it has the potential to be super busy at night but didn't get to experience that potential as I went during happy hour hours. I ordered a local Canadian beer, something like to do when I am in a new place for the first time and I was surprised in the type of glass they served beer in. I was surprised by how large of a space it is and the decor is pretty cool. Bartenders were nice and there's plenty of seating and room. Not my favorite of the bars I tried out on the street but nothing really unfavorable about this spot either.

Had to come in for my first visit to Toronto. Was such a fun experience as I was with good company and the bar staff were very friendly and engaging with us. I wish I could have remembered our bartender's name. He was very sweet. Of course I was a big fan of the show so I was curious and surprised how big the place is. Drinks were good and ambiance and decor were awesome. Next time I'm in down I'll try to catch a drag show.

Some pineapple rum drink & blue fruity punch !

Had such a great time here and loved the queens that performed !! As a straight female, I found that although Woody's caters for the LGBQT community, everyone was really friendly and accepting. The drink selection was awesome, the place was HUGE with tons of seating & mini table areas, clean & well-ventilated, and had 5 bars. Check out their front left-most bar as the bartender there makes some MEAN fruity cocktails, but it'll set you back ~$10. They usually have a show later in the night with their in-house drag queens who had their make-up & outfits ON POINT! It involves some fun crowd-play, dramatic lip-syncing, and fierce dancing. You MAY want to bring some small bills as a few people would tip the drag queens during their performance :)

COVID

A staple, classic establishment in the neighbourhood. Decent drink prices and some of the friendliest/hardest working bartenders; the bar(s) have a great set-up, so service is more timely/better. The area is also changing and losing some of it's character, let's hope COVID comes and goes... and with it; a return of WOODY'S!

The holiday decorations

Over the last few years with this has become the premier spot in the village for game night life. I love through zero cover policy. You literally never know who you're gonna meet as Woody's is known to attract people from all around the world. The drinks here admittedly are rather simple. One time one of the bartenders mentioned to me that I should think shitty Gay bar when thinking about what kind of drinks they would have available. The energy in this place is magnetic after about 11:30 PM but also is more chill and tame during weekdays and afternoons.

Woody's seems to the most popular of gay bars located in Toronto's Church Street gayborhood area. It's not a dance club, more of a social drinking and stage show entertainment bar, but always great fun, everyone talkative and super friendly. It's one of my favorites as the bartenders are top notch friendly pleasant professionals and the crowd talkative, always willing to enter in to friendly conversation and chat. It can really get crowded, especially on weekends or when they are having an event like the "Best Ass" contest wherein some of younger locals enjoy sporting off the best their assets. LOL! Even though there are usually a good number of those hanging around who have overindulged in their beverages, even as drunks they are nice. Overall, it's a happen place, has a decent décor, a certain vibrancy and above all fun; even for me, a guy over 70.

Enjoying the fun on a Sunday night

I had such a fun night watching the talented ladies in the drag show. I was pleasantly surprised to find an extremely attractive crowd that also caught me eye (; This is the perfect place to grab a drink, enjoy good music and great vibes. I came on a Sunday night which meant no cover charge... woot! The typical cover charge I believe is around 10 CAD.

I always have to order a double because of the liquor stoppers, but whatever, best bar in town especially during pride! ‍

The staff are friendly and sexy. The guys on Sunday nights are like minded so it's easy to enjoy myself. From my experience, Sunday nights tend to be slightly older and fairly masculine. You don't see many guys using two hands to sip their cocktail through a straw. Most guys are gripping a beer. If there was a way for the dance floor to be a little bigger that would be great but they have done very well as one of the ONLY places to dance on Church Street. The DJ's are fun, especially DJ Dwayne! The pisser has little face sized windows to peer through as you drain and look out at guys walking to and from the dance floor....such a cool idea! The upstairs is a great place to cool off or heat up depending on the weather and what you are looking for. The patio/deck is nice and large with interesting sections to congregate. Summer Sundays offer a BBQ if you are patient and hungry. This place has a lot to offer to a lot of different types of people. I've never had a bad time there.

Spent a lot of time on the dance floor to disco through 90s euro dance hits. Fun environment and looking forward to going back!

They always put the leafs game on when they're playing which is Mae's them a reliable game spot. Over the past couple of years I felt their food quality has slowly declined but today was different. Way exceeded my expectations. We started with a corona zero and ranch water (passion fruit flavour) we were both really happy with it. The didn't skimp on the tequila. We started with the Brussels sprouts which is always a great choice from here. Crispy on the outside and not an overwhelming Brussels sprout taste. This is likely because there is a generous sprinkling of grated parm and a great amount of dip. We tried the crispy tuna sushi. The tuna was beautifully marinated, so flavourful. And the sushi was nice and crispy. The vodka pie was a seasonal item and when we saw it listed, we knew we needed to try it. The sauce- amazing, the press was nice and flaky and light and really tasty. And the soccer Sada added nice saltines and flavour without being too overwhelming. For happy hour, the apps and pizzas were $5 off, and the ranch water was $5. I'd come back for the pizza alone! Jeans was our waitress and she was great!

Service was friendly, not too fast after sitting down, but didn't have to wait too long to order either. I didn't try any of the food, as only popped in for a drink, but from what I could see coming out to other tables it looked decent, and I likely would return to try some other evening.
