I am from Mansfield MA and hope my review helps you make the right decision. I had really bad experience with Woods Power Equipment from Cumberland RI. Please think twice before getting involved with this company. I believe it's a two person company, one plays good cop and other you know. All good until you pay $150 for inspection/visit that you have been promised that will go against the repair as well. But, here's the catch, after the payment you will be offered with either high repair cost or they will simply decline providing service if it's a small fix. So, basically your $150 goes one-way and you will never get it back. My situation was that my riding mower was suffering with transmission oil leak from one of the rear wheels because of aged axle oil seal, it was pretty visible. Instead of simply replacing the oil seal, I was told to replace the whole transmission assembly that's almost priced 50% of new riding mower cost. And, believe me, you will be very well convinced of their OEM theory and OEM spare parts and non-availability of small spares like oil seal. My ask was simple, it's a 6 years old riding mower, treat it like that and get as much as you can what's left of it. No one can make it like new even if you were to accept and replace the entire transmission, what if now the engine is next? The OEM theory is good but you need to be realistic as well. Or maybe, they know that but want to exploit the vulnerability. Finally, I got the oil seal replaced this week, the oil seal costed $8 and that's all it took to fix the leak. Even if I get few months out of it or have to repeat few times it's still far better than following their advice. I lost my $150 for nothing. Looks like this company is not interested in small repairs at all and will take away your $150 now saying thats for the inspection/visit cost and will not touch your equipment if it needs a small repair! read more

I know it's summer, but if you're looking for small engine repair, look no further. And the BEST is they PICK UP and DELIVER Tommy is fantastic. We had a new snow blower that sat over the summer and when winter came, yup you guessed it, it wouldn't start. I called and talked to Kayla who told me up front prices and when they could come get it. Long story short, A1 service, prices you can afford, family owned and the convenience of the whole process. The employees at Woods are very pleasant and professional that's why I am giving a 2 star instead of a 1. I am like many others ...very busy and liked the idea of a mobile lawnmower service. I needed my 2013 machine serviced which is definitely abused quite a bit on the farm property I live on. My kids hit the back of the machine and knocked a linkage off that I couldn't figure out where it went. It caused the machine to run in almost full choke so I didn't feel like messing with it but the machine still ran and cut. I just wanted to know where the linkage went so I figured it was worth having someone come out. When I called I was told there is a diagnostic deposit which I was fine with and figured maybe that would be the whole cost because how much could it take to put a spring on. I should have known this would go bad as the person on the phone told me the mechanic likes to look over the whole machine..... all I wanted was the darn spring placed where it belonged. The mechanic showed right as scheduled I wasn't with him as I was working. He looked it over and said basically everything is shot and it's a Home Depot type of tractor and I would be better off replacing than putting the money in it. I was busy working and really didn't have time to talk too much. When I got a break I called the company back they told me my oil was sludge, my blades were bent, my head gasket was leaking, my front caster needed to be replaced with the wheel and it would be about 1500.00. A new cub zero is about 3200 so I definitely was not doing that. I continually said I brought u out just for the spring and they said there is liability on them if they just fixed the spring lol. So a spring turned into a new tractor and I lost my deposit unless I did all the work on their 1500.00 bill and they were still not guaranteeing anything. Today I changed my oil replaced the blades and mowed my 1.5 acre lawn without issue and yes I figured out where the spring goes. We are on sort of a farm so I drive these tractors until they don't drive anymore I did not want them doing anything except the spring they refused and kept the diagnostic deposit. I am sure they are great if your meticulous with your equipment but if u have an older machine which has been used and you have a specific I would watch out. They will refuse to fix the one issue unless u fix everything they diagnose as a problem read more

When Tommy came by to pick up our snow thrower to work on, we had no idea he'd run into a shortage of carburetors (which my machine needed), and wind up storing so many machines in his garage until the parts finally came through. Kayla did a great job keeping us informed throughout the wait, and now our machine is back and ready for next season. I'd absolutely recommend them to anyone needing help with small engine work. read more
