I was shopping for a new snowblower and our family had bought machines from RDL in Rehoboth before so they were my first and ultimately only stop. I wanted a USA made unit and I wanted it assembled by someone with know how (sorry Lowe's and Home Depot ) and the price for my Ariens Compact was the same at those home improvement stores and they delivered my unit (free cause we live in town) and the unit comes with a Great warranty and they fully service small engines if I have issues. I called RDL Equipment Sales and Service (514 Winthrop Street, Rehoboth) to have inner tubes (I bought online) added to two Kubota front tires. I spoke with Melissa, who was very nice. I explained exactly what model Kubota I had with the low profile front tires. She acknowledged they would be able to add the tubes for $20 for each tire. I thought that was fair and dropped the tires and tubes off. A couple of days later they called and said they were all set. I picked them up and left. When I got home I tried to add air while they were in the bed of my truck. They were both leaking. I called RDL back and spoke with the owner, Ryan Leffort. He immediately started blaming everything else except his company. "You must have had too much weight on them when you tried to add air" when I mentioned they weren't on my machine he then started saying how those low profile tires are junk and that he shouldn't even work on them. OK, I get it - if that's how you feel then DON'T say you can do it. He told me to bring them back in and they would take a look at them. I dropped them off that day. Two days later I received a call from a younger salesperson at RDL, He said I had three options: 1.Pick up the tires and receive no refund whatsoever. 2. Buy new tubes from them and pay them $20 to install both of them (WOW! They are giving me a $20 discount to replace the tubes they ruined) 3. Buy new tires (from them) that aren't low profile. I chose the first option. Unfortunately Ryan wasn't there when I arrived but his mechanic starting making excuses about the tubes. I told him that I was told by his company that they were the right tubes when I picked them up and if anyone there thought they were wrong they should have said something and not done the job. They told me I would not get a refund of any kind. So, they charged me $40 to ruin two inner tubes that cost me $35. Later, I called a Kubota dealer and a tire shop and they said they install tubes all the time in those tires and there is nothing wrong with the Kubota low profile tires. So, I was out $75 and I bought another "exact set" and I installed them myself. Yes, it took me a while but at least they are done. I know Ryan worked for the family business, Don's Small Engine Repair when it was in Rehoboth, for 19 years before he started his own business and he may/may not be able to repair equipment but he certainly lacks customer service skills and work ethics. I dropped off two leaf blowers that had been sitting for awhile. RDL took a look and there was nothing they could do to get them running correctly again. This wasn't an issue as I figured both blowers were too far gone. I paid for the service and asked the employee where the blowers were as I intended on selling them for parts. The employee acted like it was a hassle to check for them. I don't know if they lost them, threw them out or just couldn't find them in the building but they weren't able to return either one to me. No explanation, no apology and no mention that they would look any further. I get that neither blower was working properly, but that doesn't mean that it's all right for them to toss out someone else's property. read more

My Family was looking for a company who could service our lawn & other equipment. Finding someone that offered pickup & delivery was important to us & we'd heard wonderful things about Seekonk Small Engine. We'd heard they closed & the business was purchased by the son Ryan @ RDL Equipment. We contacted RDL to arrange for pickup & were given a window of when to expect them. However, when nobody showed up within their window we called & were told the staff were making their rounds & would get to us later in the day. A call would have been nice. When we made initial contact & spoke with the owner, Ryan we requested pickup & delivery & let him know when the equipment was returned we would need the guys to leave it in the garage. Someone would be home. We also asked for a call with an approximate quote so we'd have an idea how much it would cost. Two weeks passed & nothing. We called & were told there was no record of our equipment & their system was down. We were asked to call back. When we called back the equipment had been found but had no record of the pickup & delivery even though they'd picked it up. When asked when it would be ready, we were told next week. Pickup & delivery occurs on Wednesday & we thought we'd get a call the day before giving us a delivery window. By mid-day Tuesday we hadn't received a call so my husband called & was told Ryan would call him back later. At 4:30 PM Tuesday still no call. I called & spoke with a female employee who was rude & very snappy. Her response was your husband already called, Ryan will get back to you when he has minute. I explained I was trying to plan my day for Wednesday, it was 4:30 & they close at 5:00. She repeated Ryan would call back. Wednesday morning about 7:30 Ryan finally called. No apology just a window of when the guys would be by. I asked for a copy of the invoice to be brought for our records. I told him I'd be home & hung . As I was getting ready to grab the mail I happen to notice that our equipment had been left in our driveway. Even though Ryan knew I'd be home & my husband confirmed his staff would bring the equipment into the garage for me, no one rang the bell. The invoice I requested was left with the equipment. Thankfully, my husband got home early & was able to move the equipment. I couldn't move it, that's why he had asked it be dropped off in the garage. I called RDL& asked to speak with Ryan. I was told he was on the other line & he could return my call or I could hold. I asked to hold. I held for a bit and was told Ryan was still on the other line. I asked to keep holding. When Ryan picked up my call I explained that my husband arranged for pickup & delivery & requested the guys drop the equipment in our garage. He said he had no record of that & speaks with thousands of people every day & can't remember everything & his day starts early. I told him perhaps it should have been written on the work order. I also reminded him we had been told they didn't have record of the pickup & delivery for our equipment even though it had been picked up. I told him when we spoke earlier I requested the invoice which they left but they left it out in the driveway with the equipment. His response was, well you told me you were going to be home so I figured they didn't need to ring the bell. I can't keep track of what everyone wants. I asked Ryan if this is customary to leave equipment. He asked what I wanted him to do about it. I told him I was bringing it to his attention. He was not professional, justifying how things were done and never apologizing. It's a shame because it appears their work is quality but in our opinion being courteous is very much lacking. Read the Yelp reviews before choosing RDL. There is another company, SSE who does small engine repairs, offers pickup & delivery & can be reached at 508-336-0020. I bought a makita dolmar chainsaw from them and couldn't be happier. After reading review after review on just about every chainsaw on earth I decided to switch from my stihls to a makita (made by dolmar in Germany). The older gentleman there was very insightful and could tell me the exact difference in the saws mechanically. All in all it was a great experience and I will be back for more gear. Called this local company and let them know what I thought was wrong (carberator) & scheduled a pick up for them to assess. I had to call a few days later to see if they'd looked at it & was told it was the carberator & also a belt which they had ordered & were waiting delivery. I stated I had expected a call to notify me prior to ordering parts, which seemed very foreign to THEM but I've never experienced anything else from someone working on mowers, snowblower, cars, etc. The response I received was that for "supplies it would be about $80 and labor about $80" which I was fine with. I received a call that the belt hadn't come in & they wanted to get the snowblower back to me since they would be in my area which was fine with me since the belt wasn't shredded. I not only accommodated the earlier delivery to me to help with their scheduling drop but I even offered to buy the belt if it was something they couldn't use again. When reviewing the cost I was confused since I had to put up a $50 deductible & was told about the $80 & $80 when I called, but was now told the additional amount due was $164 & that WASN'T including the belt price or replacement. When asked I was told it should have been assumed there was a pickup/delivery (though that's usually disclosed up front) & they don't have time to include all information or make phone calls on all maintenance and their judgement should be trusted. Also said the delivery information is on their website, why would I have to look that up if I'm calling? I had to pay $85 dollars for pickup/delivery from Rehoboth to Berkley! The biggest issue was just how he (owner's son) handled me asking questions about this unknown cost as he was very rude, curt, and dismissive which was completely unnecessary as I was being calm and pleasant during the encounter.
