The truck was past the recall date from Toyota, but unfortunately had a badly rusted frame and failed the safety inspection. I had work done on my tj about 6 years or so ago, I had frame work done which since has cracked right around where the front control arms bolt up to the new bracket, the body work done to it include floors and torque boxes had to be redone 3 years after having them fixed, the frame overall is a lot better than when it rolled in to auto rust but the welds are far from pretty, not a big deal. Would recommend to anyone looking for frame work to be done but the body work wasn't up to my expectation. Didn't think I would write a review because for the first few years everything seemed good, but to this day I keep finding more and more flaws in the work done. And yes I take very very very good care of the jeep such as keeping it off the road when it gets cold as well as regularly washing it and fluid filming it. ALSO! do not get sold on any kind of undercoating here! It does nothing but lock in moisture and I believe it's half the reason all the work is falling apart! read more

This place is not what they make it seem like on their advertising... They clearly don't want your business unless they can get you in and out quickly, and they're not willing to help with serious rust issues. Clearly they're making too much money to want to actually help anyone. I wasted my entire day driving over an hour to this place only for them to Give me an estimate meant to deflect me away. The parts are high quality. The welds are beautiful. The undercoating is very tough and durable. Added bonus, this is a very friendly company! They sell all the parts for DIY, but if you can't do the work yourself I would highly recommend having them do it. You can't beat the undercoating service. My '97 wrangler's frame was rotting out in the usual places (rear quarters). I drove up to have these guys save my Jeep. They were able to work with me on a tight deadline. I really appreciated the walkthrough of the shop after I came to pick it up. The work this shop does is fantastic. I bought a used 97 Wrangler with a frame and body that looked like swiss cheese. they were able to bring it back up to par and stop me for worrying about my car buckling in the middle of the road. that said, they weren't super good on the details. A spot I wanted fixed didn't get addressed so I'll have to go somewhere more local to Boston to get it done. My interior was full of rust dust. They replaced my locking lugs on my wheels, but didn't give me the nut so I had to have it shipped to me. So, great work, but make sure you call often to find out what they're working on. Ask for an itemized receipt so you know exactly what you paid for. I will definitely recommend this place for anyone who needs framework done, but won't mind having to do a little cleanup when they get it back. read more

I ordered a Rear Trailing Arm Mounts Frame Repair kit for my 2001 Jeep TJ and had it installed at a local (in Alabama) truck repair facility. Thanks so much for fixing the rusty frame on my 02 Jeep Wrangler. I was told by a dealer that it shouldn't be on the road due to the rusted frame. I had a couple of shops try to fix it but they failed to do it right. You guys did it right! You guys did a very professional job and I feel much safer knowing that the frame is completely repaired the right way. The job looks great and I am very happy that I can keep the Jeep on the road and I can continue restoring it. The sandblast and undercoating looks great as well. I highly recommend that anyone who has a jeep wrangler with a rusted through frame; bring it to Auto Rust Technicians to restore it. Jerry has aligned himself with a great team here. These guys know what they are doing and do it well. There is no reason for 1 or 2 stars, those are either fake customers or uninformed customers. I traveled 200 plus miles one way to have Auto Rust install their unique Safe-T-Caps on my First Generation Tacoma. They saved another one! Sure I could have bought the parts from them and had them shipped, and have a local/closer welder do the work. Why would I do that when the shop that invented the concept is in RI? Northern NH to RI the trip was well worth it. Don't trust the ratings, do your own research on Jerry and his shop, and you learn what I did. These guys are the real deal. Jeeps, Landcruisers, and Tacomas being worked on when I went for my vehicle check and price estimate. Sure its not cheap , but if you truly love your ride and want it to last, then you have to make a decision. I am pleased with the work, and they came in a touch under the estimate, who does that?!? Most shops come in over the estimate. They basically reframed my Taco at half the price of a complete reframe from a dealer. Plus the Safe-T-Caps have better drain holes than OEM frames, and are made from American Steel. No reason not to come here. When my 2000 Jeep Wrangler failed state inspection due to a rotted frame (common problem with Jeeps) I thought I'd be stuck selling it for almost nothing even though it has less than 80,000 miles and was otherwise in great shape. The garage that did the inspection recommended Auto Rust Technicians in Cranston. I drove in for a free estimate and couldn't believe the amount of rot around where axle and front end attached to the frame. I was given a reasonable estimate and made an appointment for the following week. When I picked it up a few days later I couldn't be happier, the frame looks brand new, all of the rotted sections were cut out and replaced with new steel and rustproofed. It was well worth it. Instead of selling it for almost nothing, I can enjoy it for several more years, sell it or trade it in and get a reasonable price. I had used them previously and was satisfied until this last dealing. I made an appointment as directed and was told it would be two to three days to finish. I dropped my 1952 Jeep that had not seen rain or any weather element in 40 + years on July 20, 2015. End of the week I had not heard anything. I called on July 27th to quote Miguel, "we are in the middle of it, we are making a bracket to attach to the frame call at the end of the week". So I called on Thursday the 30th to see the progress, " should be done Saturday I will call you, it will cost a little more (went from the original price of 300 to 400 up to 500). I NEVER heard from them. So, I personally stopped in on August 7th to see what was up? I see the Jeep sitting outside in the yard. I go inside to find out the deal. Miguel comes out and he states to me, "honestly, we haven't touched it." I asked, "so you rolled it out and have left it outside this whole time?" He replied yes. Did you even cover it I asked. He said no. I looked inside the body of the jeep, the floors all had surface rust, puddles of water all over the place, the original top from 1952 was shrinking and now has ripped because of their ineptness I'm fuming so I left in order not to be insulting. Miguel knew I was upset because I didn't even talk to him. I did call and asked them to not do anything to the vehicle. Then Jerry the owner leaves a voice mail in an exasperated voice, "hey no one knows how to start this thing, and our guys are getting tired of pushing this thing in and out of the garage and we need to get inside in order to work on it" this is a day after I spoke with Miguel. Both of them COMPLETELY LIED to me. I still have the voice mail! I have since talked to other people who have experienced the automatic price increase in the middle of the project. Unfortunately they are pretty much the only game in Rhode Island and manipulate you with very nice conversation. Out of principle I shipped my vehicle to Mass to be fixed. (It took one day, yes one day!!! This is my experience in which I have NOT embellished one iota. If your caught in a rock and a hard place and you HAVE to use them I would be VERY SKEPTICAL of them. Their "rebuild" of the rear frame on my truck looked good at first glance, but it turned out to be more undercoating than actual frame "rebuild". The work didn't hold up; I noticed a handling issue, and crawling under it I easily spotted that I had another frame problem which should have been taken care of during the alleged rebuild. The truck had been driven very little since the work was done though many months had passed by. I had my regular mechanic take a look, and while he noted they'd done a lot of work, once we got to looking at it on the lift the poor workmanship and what I can only characterize as negligence started becoming clear. read more

Not only did they do a fantastic job repairing my frame and body under the seats, they also repaired the joint of the roll bar. Absolutely horrible experience with this business. Took our 2007 Dodge truck here for undercoating. They had the truck for almost a week, had several conversations with Miguel and even wrote in black sharpie on the rockers to blast and coat out to the rockers. Went to pick up the truck and the rockers weren't done, found several bare spots, left aluminum foil underneath and had a wire ripped from underneath that went to the back up camera. They painted the rockers and tried to hook the wire back up but stated that the camera still didn't work. When I asked what they were going to do to fix the camera they said that they arent mechanics and they cant fix it. Then I was told that they aren't liable for that kind of stuff. No where in the shop or contract does it say that they aren't liable for damages. They also stated that they aren't used to working with newer vehicles like that with extra wiring underneath. The sign in their shop says that they will "earn" you as a life long customer...that's far from the truth. Very disappointed in this business. read more
