I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

My husband and I both were patients here, I referred every person possible to come and see them, and I trusted them to the fullest with my oral care, but I cannot allow my 5 Star Review to shine any longer. During some of this history my husband and I would come out to Arizona and I made sure to book our appointments to continue care with this office and refused to see anyone else...they were the best! I respected Dr. Tran for her expertise and passion behind her beautiful office and I appreciated Alyssa for her commitment to making sure I had the cleanest smile in the world...and best convos. This all changed last year. Dr. Tran has been through more front/back office staff than I've ever seen, a couple great, most not good, but I stuck around. I had my last cleaning in Oct 2023, and was scheduled 6 months later with Alyssa. Unfortunately the day before my appointment, we had to lay our beloved 15 year old dog to rest, and the next morning my stomach was a total mess. Considering that the office is 45 minutes away from me, I was worried I might have trouble along the way, and I texted Alyssa that I was sorry there was no way I could make it...first time ever! Mind you, there was no confirmation call the day before (and I booked 6 months ahead), and zero mention of a cancellation fee. My husband had his teeth cleaned and Dr. Tran told him that he had to have all 4 of his wisdom teeth pulled, one that was absolutely necessary as she said she couldn't fill a cavity between the teeth, and referred him out. He went to the specialist, they recommended only the one, and that was done. He had a appointment for the filling already scheduled and also couldn't make the appointment as he got sick, but also didn't have a confirmation call. I called a couple days later and apologized for the mistake. Also, no mention of a cancellation fee. Fast forward, I call them and tell them that being 45 min away, and having a toddler without anyone to watch him makes for scheduling difficult (also Alyssa wasn't there anymore), and that I should probably find someone closer. The girl tells me that I need to pay a balance on the account...for cancellation fees. I told her that was ridiculous, explained the situations, and asked for that to be waived. After some time, they're waived. I go to another office, get a cleaning, and a filling and six numbing shots in, I have a filling that couldn't be replaced as I wasn't numb, and at that point, my BP was elevated quite a bit, and my HR was high. I got scared and left. I texted Alyssa, explained what happened, and called Dr. Tran's office to go back to them. The receptionist books me, and says that Dr. Tran may be able to prescribe something to calm me before. THE DAY BEFORE MY APPT, I get a text (not even a call), after I had been calling for a few days for the script to fill, saying that Dr. Tran doesn't feel comfortable with the appointment, and that I should go back to the office that did it! She doesn't even call me. And this is after I made arrangements for my husband to drive, and stay there for an hour with my toddler. Real nice. I can see that my loyalty really meant something to her. This was after I waited for her to get back from vacation, and I had a temp filling in my mouth for weeks. But she'll pick up the phone for a bachelor that chips his tooth because he was drunk. I called this week to see if my husband could finally come in for his filling, as again, we're loyal, and Kathryn, the intern, tells me that she can't schedule him and needs to talk to Dr. Tran...I ask, "why?" and she tells me it's because he didn't show up for his last appt. But that Dr. Tran would reach out on Thursday. It's Saturday, and I haven't heard from anyone at that office. I share my story with a heavy heart in hopes that someone reads it and decides that they want to be with an office that actually cares about their patients. Dentistry can be expensive, and I would rather put my money somewhere else.

When I actually couldn't make that rescheduled appt, I called the day before to reschedule. I was told by the front desk girl that it was too late & I'd be charged a $50 fee. I said, it's the day before & courtesy should be extended to me because this was an appt they rescheduled on me 30 min before. She said matter of fact, sorry we're charging you. I knew the front desk would be unpleasant from then on. I got me a new dentist. I still get a weekly text saying I owe them $50.

It was literally the most thorough dental exam I've ever had, with digital X-rays (including the panos that my last dentist didn't do), CT scans if needed, lots of photos, a tooth-by-tooth evaluation, oral cancer screening, even looking at mobility, jaw movement, etc. (Finally my knowledge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle comes in handy.) Dr. Pappas even pointed out something I'd brought up to a different dentist years ago and had completely forgotten about. He's also very transparent about whether a treatment can wait or needs to be done right away. The hygienist I had was also very thorough, so I definitely felt like I was in good hands all around. I switched here after a decade at a different dental clinic that had been cutting a lot of corners. As someone without specialized knowledge, navigating dental care can be frustrating and time-consuming. I find it so frustrating--as someone with no real knowledge of dentistry--when I feel like I to have to spend time attempting to research what dentists or other doctors should be doing so I can make sure they actually do it, or to figure out what to do about pain or issues they dismiss or tell me to ignore. We all have enough things to worry about without trying to become amateur dental or medical researchers. So it's a breath of fresh air to go somewhere like Arcadia Dental Arts where I can just kick back and relax knowing they're covering all the bases. Years ago I went to Dr. Harman regularly (as regular as you might see a dentist). At a routine cleaning I was told I had a cavity and they could drill it and fill it. I declined and ignored it. 6 months after that at my next cleaning Dr. Harman told me I needed to treat my cavity. 6 months later I got a cleaning at a new dentist and they had no mention of a cavity. 6 months after that I got another cleaning from a different dentist and no mention of a cavity. The bottom line was I had no cavity. This can be taken as an honest mistake or misdiagnosis but I'll explain why I think it's more than that. A couple weeks ago my wife's crown fell out. She has continued to see Dr. Harman who might I add has re-cemented her crown multiple times with it continuing to fall out but this time she was told her tooth was infected and she needed an implant for $9,000. We decided to get a 2nd opinion and the new dentist explained there was zero infection. Now we have 2 conflicting diagnoses so we decided to see a 3rd dentist who also said there was no infection and no implant was needed. I don't think this is a coincidence. I believe Dr. Harman manufactures false diagnosis's to pad his pockets. I believe he is dishonest and should not be seeing patients. BEWARE!
