The park is comprised of a rather nice, small lake, a pond, a boardwalk, several wooded stretches and some farm land. I did not get a chance to go to the Visitor Center, but it looked quite nice. Horseback riding facilities are also available and there are some picnic pavilions that are rather nicely kept. I visited for the first time on a nice crisp early spring evening to take an hour hike. There are four trails of varying lengths. There is a short trail that just traverses the lake for about 3/4 mile. The remaining trail lengths are 1.5, 1.8 and 3.4 miles, respectively. I chose the 1.8-mile trail since I had a short time before park closing. The terrain, scenery and air were invigorating and certainly beat using a treadmill. I'll look forward to the chance to take the longest trail at some point in the future and perhaps also to visit the Visitor Center. It's a great place to collect one's thoughts.

The beautiful trail takes one by a river and across it. The trails are very well maintained. Swing benches invite hikers and walkers to take a break and enjoy the scenery. Dogs are allowed on a leash up to 8 feet long. The trail was quite busy but not to the point where it felt crowded. Restrooms are available at the beginning of the trail as well as water fountains. Parking is super easy and I had no trouble finding a spot. I really liked the 'safety' sign with phone number by the parking lot/restrooms. I hike alone with my dog and always carry maze and a whistle with me for safety. But knowing that help is only a text message or phone call away in case of an emergency made me feel very safe.

Be sure to see the Three Sisters (now only two...) 550 year old white oaks on the orange trail, and the beautiful Orange Osage Tunnel, a real gem. Can't wait to check them both out in the fall!! I saw two people out on the trials the whole time. Bring a folding chair and you can find some great spots to sit and let your surrounds consume you. If you go to the welcome center there are restrooms and a place to fill up on water. The trail signs are positioned well and make it clear what trail is what. I recommend you take a picture of the park trial map, so you can reference it when necessary. There are some camp sites, and even some 'backcountry' camp sites that you have to hike too. Many different shelters to reserve with parking lots in other areas of the park (you don't have to hike to them). There is a sledding hill too. I only saw probably 10 or 15% of the park. But it is sure worth checking out. I believe it's 5 River metroparks biggest park. Enjoy exploring yelpers!!

It's been rainy, so there were some slick spots, and it was muddy in a couple of low spots. Because of the rain, the boardwalk was also a little slippery, but a cute little stretch of path to take. Possum Creek is one of the few that I had not yet visited, so I decided to take advantage of a lazy Sunday afternoon to trek down to Moraine and see this gem for myself.
