This course was beautiful and play was very reasonable priced given the quality of the course. The carts were quiet and comfortable. The holes were well-labeled and the course was easy to follow. The staff was welcoming and kindly directed us to our first hole and cart. I really enjoyed this experience and appreciate Oak Valley for making my first golfing experience really great!

They did provide us with supplemental items though so I didn't feel shortchanged. They only have one breaking area so we didn't get to go in immediately when we got there, but it wasn't a long wait and we got to chat with the owners for a little bit. I believe you can take some of your own items to break, so in the future I would go by Goodwill or other thrift stores and buy supplemental items in addition to the ones they give you because once you get rolling it is really fun to throw some stuff. I definitely felt more relaxed after I left just from getting to yell and throw stuff at a wall which is normally not acceptable most places. I would go back in the future!

I came here on a Thursday in August for a team building event which included a work meeting in the…read moremorning, lunch and a round of golf in the afternoon. The location is very easy to find just off I-40 in Bermuda Run. However, I took backroads since I was come from Lewisville where I live. I provided my name and organization when I arrived at the gate and they directed me where to go. The clubhouse is in the center of the golf course which is bordered on one side by the Yadkin river. As you drive to the clubhouse, there are many houses on the streets that back up to the fairways and greens. The clubhouse is very large but I did not explore. There is a nice pro shop. Our work meeting was in the Diamond room which was a perfect size for our group of about 10. The meeting was very good and ended with lunch served about 1pm. Lunch included a side salad and your choice of chicken or salmon. I chose the chicken because I am not a fan of seafood. Everything was very timely and allowed us to continue our conversations. The chicken was very tender with a creamy sauce. It was on a bed of Ditalini pasta with a side of grilled veggies. After lunch, we were paired up and placed in teams of four. We proceeded to our carts and played nine holes. Some of our group continued on for 18 holes. The course is well kept with lots of traps around the greens. We had a dedicated drink cart and server keeping our group hydrated. We did get a short drizzle about hole 6 but there was not thunder or lightning. Overall this was good experience, the grounds, facility and service were great.

There are 3 holes that are uphill and challenging. Number 11 is a par 5 and dog leg left. There are a few holes with water. I would definitely play this course again. There are lots of members/regulars that play there so be prepared to wait between holes. The course is fairly challenging but there are several holes that allow for easy scoring. The greens were not in the best of shape last time I played there...kind of a grayish color. The second hole is always wet even during a 100 year drought I think it would be "swampy". It is also not a cheap course either, $26 to play after 1pm, weekday! You will meet some good people on the course though and can usually find a few people to play with if you are short a person or two for a foursome.

Don't let the fact that it's a municipal course slow you down. This is the nicest muni I've ever played. It's a Donald Ross design so it's a classic! Richard who runs the inProShop is great and has an answer for every one of your questions. They have a driving range, chipping area & separate putting green. All are in great condition. You will love the wide open fairways! The tee boxes are in great condition & large. They have tee positions that will suit every level of play. Most of the greens were in really good shape. There were maybe three or four that had bare spots but not unusual given the weather. They have GPS on the carts. They had rain the night before so many of the holes were 90 degree or 'cart path only' You will get a beep top and a nasty gram if you try to defeat the guidelines. As a Senior on a Monday, I got a great rate of $48 bucks for 18 holes with cart. It's a course I highly recommend!

The clubhouse and range where nice, but it was not until I rolled some putts on the putting green that my hopes started to rise. They had bent grass that was smooth and blazing fast. The staff were all great. Very friendly and everything you'd hope for at any level course. The course is fantastic. I'd say it has about 3 semi weak holes and even those were fun to play. The overall condition was excellent. The green were amazingly good. The sand in some of the green side bunkers were just ok, but in every other respect this track was so enjoyable to play. The views were stunning. My only regret was my choice of tees. I'm a low handicap senior. I chose the blue tees, which would have been fine with summer roll, but the course proved a bit too tough for me given the softer fall / winter conditions. Don't make my stupid mistake. I can't wait to return to this terrific golf course.

It's been just about a year since I played this course as it's over an hour from Fort Mill so we…read moremade the trek out there on 7/3/25. James was in town from NH so he and Ben put together a group of 12 for 18 holes of golf. This time the range was open. It's adequate but it sits way up a hill and they don't want carts up there so you either lug your clubs up/down the hill or pull the ones you want to hit. They is also a chipping green but no bunkers to practice from. There is NO Starter though there is a little building on the #1 tee but it's been abandon. The Pro Shop has a PA system with outdoor speakers so they announce your name and your tee time, ten minutes before. The B-Man has had this course in his 'top ten' for a while. When I played it last year it was #8, it's now number 2. The views around the lake are great. It's country golf in a rural setting and it feels like it. We saw some guys in their Lynyrd Skynyrd & ZZ Top tee shirts. There are some really beautiful Par 3's and nice and short Par 4's. I was challenged once again by hole #7. There is a big pond right in front of the tee box and water on both sides the fairway about 200 yards out with a very narrow fairway landing area. I still have scar tissue from the first time. If it wasn't so far away I would play this course a lot more. All 11 of the other guys just raved about and said it was 'worth the drive from CLT.
