I would be very cautious about using this mechanic service for anything other than an oil change. I had a check engine light issue and their diagnostics indicated low compression on #3 cylinder, their recommendation was replace the engine. I ended up taking my Audi Q5 to a Import specialist and they indicated the issue was a bad fuel injector. They were able to take care of the repair in short order. They also told me that previous work done by Woodies wasn't done correctly and they had to do it over. They talk about their quality of service and their ASE certified mechanics and their belief in Customer Service and treating you like family. That was not my experience. read more

State inspections take less than 30 minutes to conduct. Extremely poor communication and expectations delivered by customer service. Took my late model car in for inspection. They failed the inspection because they said the rear brake pads were too thin and offered me a $300 brake job to resolve the issue. I told them to go ahead and fail the inspection. I was suspicious. The assessment that the pads are "too thin" didn't seem right. After all, the pads worked fine and looked fine at another shop when the tires were rotated. I researched when I got home at the NC DOT inspection code and found that this is not a valid reason to fail the car's inspection. North Carolina Administrative Code 19A 03D Section .0500. Since there is no code for pad thickness per se, they failed my car on "foot petal". Which indicates that the distance of the foot petal travel should reserve 30% travel after stopping the car. Unless there is metal to metal sound in the brakes, which there wasn't, they should not have even removed the wheel to inspected the brakes. Called in a complaint and referenced the NC code. Told them to earlier pass the car or I would post a bad review, because they were just selling me a brake job. The service manager made these statements:"I haven't been to inspector school but... we do that to all cars." Then he became defensive saying: "Your trying to hold a gun to our head..." and that they could "disputed any that [I] had to say, unquestioned" and moreover that my "ugly behavior" was terrible. read more

hard to even give a star. We just recently moved to Davidson area and needed to take care of a climate control problem on our vehicle. We asked if they had the expertise to handle the repairs and the technician assured us that they did, long story short and many unneeded parts installed let alone labor costs we hope it is fixed. Very very disappointed to be told once they started working on it maybe we should take to a dealership or they were gonna finally call the car company engineers to maybe help them figure it out. We wanted to help support local business but instead got taken to the cleaners. We were willing to pay for unnecessary parts they installed of over $500 but felt they should give us a partial refund of labor costs 1000$ and let company absorb it but they refused. That is the truth and want other senior citizens from being badly taken advantage of. Just hope repairs hold for the warranty of 3 years, really don't want to take back. My family has been customers of Woodie's in Davidson for the past five years since moving to the area. Each time we've used Woodie's for services ranging from safety inspections to new tires, we have sworn to ourselves that would not return. Out of convenience and a desire to help local businesses, we continue to give them second chances. That changes today! After setting-up a safety inspection appointment for 7:00 a.m. and delivering my vehicle to the location, the indignant service manager informed me that I would need to drop my vehicle off with them with no commitment for when it would ready. He further stated that the technician who does their safety inspections doesn't even arrive until 8:00 a.m.. Why accept a 7:00 a.m. appointment for work that can't even begin until 8:00 a.m. with no guarantee when it would be completed? My plan was to drop my vehicle off at the agreed upon time, go for a thirty minute walk, and return to the location to pay and leave. Instead, after a very improper exchange of words with the service manager (fueled by the service manager) I left leaving him with a firm commitment Woodie's will never hear from my family again. Beyond my experience this morning, Woodie's has consistently been more expensive than other automotive repair businesses and has frequently performed services that required a return visit to fully resolve the original issue or a new issue they caused. My family's blind commitment to helping a local Davidson business ended today. There are far better options in the local market than Woodie's. While they may not have the fancy waiting room or nice building, they don't overcharge, treat their customer poorly, or fail to live into their commitments. Went for an oil change. Their prices were $50 for the basic, $66 for the premium, and $80-something for the best. Normally I would pay around $30. In terms of ambiance, they have a very nice lounge with wifi, snacks, TV, a desk, and comfy chairs. They automatically do an inspection with every oil change and notified me that my air filter needed replacement. They offered to do that for $20 (part and labor) and I took them up on it. TERRIBLE.. RIP OFF!! I took my car in for an inspection. They called me and told me that my license tag lights were out and that it would be no problem for them to fix them. Informing me that the inspection wouldn't pass without fixing them, which I'm sure was true. I told them to go ahead. I came back later and was surprised that my car wasn't ready, but figured no biggie. I waited and about 10 minutes go by (car's been there for nearly an hour now), but the inspection only takes 30 mins and changing the lights should have been only a few more. When they are finally done, I pay and leave. Everything's good. NO mention of issues or anything. Today, while out grocery shopping, I go to the back of my minivan to put in the groceries and find that one of the lights (housing and all) is hanging down by the wires coming out of the tailgate a good couple inches. I can't believe it. There has never been a problem before. So, I look and I notice there is some dried super glue on the housing interior, which is weird, on the one end. It looks like something is missing, but I don't know. I don't know what's going on and I have never had these replaced or looked at to my knowledge so I can't tell if something's broken. I notice the other light housing is loose and so I tug on it and it comes out pretty easily. I immediately notice that there is a clip on this one where the other has it missing. Then I see that this one has been super glued on, too. It appears that this one was holding on loosely, while the other one completely fell off. NO mention of this to me from Woodies' garage, so I must assume they broke it, tried to fix it without telling me, therefore hiding it and letting me leave the garage! I've been here many, many times and my experiences have always been great!! Their prices are really good and the employees are extremely nice and accommodating. I've even come in to get something done and they've told me it is not necessary yet. The waiting room is incredible. Huge tv, free sodas, bottled waters, and snacks!!! They must've noticed it needed to be registered with the state again because they said it wouldn't pass inspection. When I took it to another shop that I have a long relationship with, only one of the many things on their list actually needed to be done, and it only cost $300. The only thing you should have done here is your yearly inspection because they can't charge you more than the $30. I just had my yearly inspection, and they came back and told me my battery needed to be replaced (it's only three years old and I bought my car brand new) and that both the engine and cabin air filters needed to be replaced. I told them to hold off on the battery, but to go ahead and change the filters, thinking it wouldn't be too expensive. WRONG. I was charged $54.94 in labor for the cabin filter, $32.96 in labor for the engine filter, and then $41.39 for the parts, and $10.99 for "shop supplies" (which I'm guessing is for the two paper towels they used to wipe their hands off with). $140 total. I called the Mazda dealer, they quoted me about $90 for parts and labor. A $50 difference for the exact same service!! And I made an appointment, but they still needed to keep my car for 5 hours. I'm not coming back ever again. The only good experience I had was with their shuttle driver, Mike. He was awesome! read more

I was quoted $823 dollars to replace a single ignition coil and 2 spark plugs, which are relatively cheap and are easily accessible for my specific car (a Kia). They were definitely trying to take advantage, likely because I am a young female. Unluckily for Woodies my family and I know a lot about cars. It takes UNDER AN HOURS worth of labor to replace these parts. I know that for a fact because I had to get the exact same thing done on my last car. Spark plugs run between $50-$70 for my model, and ignition coils are slightly more, about $100. Let's do the math. Woodies said they charge $109 per hour for labor, which in my experience is pretty high but ok. At the MOST Expensive, this fix should've been $350-$400. At the LEAST expensive, it would be between $320-$350. So how do you explain the $400 dollar gap? That's price gauging. It's highway robbery. I was further charged $130 for "diagnostics", which is the most money I've ever had to pay for a simple scan. Prior to this incident the most I had ever payed was $65. I will never return to this location nor will I ever recommend it to anyone else. The only reason I'm even giving it one star is because they were somewhat friendly and I know the company offers free rides home, but that is the extent of the one star I'm giving to Woodies read more
