I was pleasantly surprised by how much shade there is, how green everything looked, and how clean the entire area was. Since I had a break, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful morning and get a few steps in on my Apple Watch. One of my favorite things about this park is the walking path that goes around the park. That is super dope because you can actually get your steps in without having to walk through the grass. And honestly, that matters to me because I'm always hoping I don't accidentally step in dog poop! Surprisingly, every dog I saw was on a leash, and the owners appeared to be responsible and caring. I didn't see any dog poop left behind on the grass, which is a huge win because nothing irritates me more than people who don't clean up after their pets. This also seems like a great little spot to simply sit in your car and chart, gather your thoughts, or just enjoy some quiet time. I'm not sure what the atmosphere is like in the evening, but in the morning, this park is really nice! It's clean, peaceful, shaded, and has a great little walking area. Sometimes you find the best places completely by accident, and I'm glad this was one of those discoveries!

I saw several groups of kids playing soccer. They have a play structure that kids seemed to enjoy. I saw walkers, joggers, people sitting on the share, some reading some reflecting some relaxing and one man enjoying a late breakfast, wait, that was me. First let me point out that the one easily missed sign for the park clearly states Bill Beck Play Ground. This could have affected my decision to visit when I did. On a positive note I was able to check off one more park I've visited. It was actually a nice park to visit. My biggest challenge as a 70 year old man was the fact that there were no public restrooms available. This inconvenience cut my visit short and I ended up going to the Library to relax and use the restroom before the car show. On the day I visited the place was practically empty. One man enjoying the exercise equipment and a coule of kids on the play structure. I'm going to guess the kids were with the man. In addition to the play structure and exercise equipment was a nice field where all sorts of games can be played. There were several picnic tables available with a reasonable amount of mature Shade trees. The addition of a public restroom would have greatly boosted my star rating, even a porta potty with a hand washing station would have been acceptable. I've talked to El Cajon locals nearly my age that lived in the neighborhood as kids who had fond memories of Bill Beck Play Ground. They had the luxury of running across the street to use the restroom at home. I did have a nice picnic and took a few pictures to share. Thanks for reading . Enjoy the photos. ¹

I've never had an issue coming and not getting parking in the main area. Bathrooms, drinking fountains, plenty of seating and bbq spots make it perfect for picnics or parties. Basketball and tennis courts for play. Large structures for kids under the shade of gorgeous trees (my favorite part). Even during the summer the shade provided from the trees mean you don't have to stay indoors. The best part of all: a creek and hiking trail. The creek is dry during the summer but still makes for great exploration. In the winter months it has water so bring some rain boots or a change of clothes and let the kids go wild!

The park has a nice grass area for dog play, but dogs must remain on a leash. There is volley ball court, basket ball court, a playground with equipment, picnic tables that can be reserved for events, restrooms, tennis or pickle ball court, plenty of shaded areas, and a bike rack to lock up your bikes. I liked that the grass area was very well maintained, but the parking area had several pieces of trash lying around. It is said that people just drop their trash when there are public trash cans in sight. At any rate, this is a very nice community park.

You would have to take quite a turn after seeing the sign on Bancroft if you are driving from the Valley Farm Market. Parking spots looked quite limited as there was only one way in and then one way out. The table we got was perfect for us to enjoy our BBQ ribs, chicken, and salads under the eucalpytus trees. But would say some of the other seating areas were pretty much in the sun, so wish there was a bit more shade to those closer to the parking lot. The area looked very family friendly, lots of shade, and the grassy areas looked perfect for dogs to run around. I read in another review that dogs aren't allowed there but don't think I saw the sign during our visit there, so might have missed it. The dogs that were there that day were quite friendly and no one seemed to mind. There were two pavilion areas towards the left of the park which were well shaded where parties can be hosted. Bathrooms are nearby the higher elevated one. Overall looked like a decent park.
