David at KBF miraculously created a new design which (more than) doubled our storage within the existing footprint! No business will make money quoting you prices on materials from 84 Lumber or Lowe's then doing the job at cost. It's called a business. Why did we choose them for our kitchen and master bath remodel, and what did we get from them? 1) Professional Visual Design - We took bids from several contractors. Of those that gave us any confidence that they a) would show up to work after they took their deposit and b) could competently execute the work, only NDK gave us plan we could see in a 3D model with customizable views. Kate worked with us tirelessly, first coming up with a dozen possible floorplans to meet our functional needs then in choosing the materials that would complete the aesthetics. It took a few weeks of appointments but we custom-designed every drawer, appliance, tile arrangement, and light fixture. Every other contractor interviewed gave us a sketch or two, but I'm not tearing down my abode on a sketch and a prayer. With NDK we got to see a realistic model before we committed. 2) Materials - Another key feature was that once we had everything selected, Olivia made sure that all of the materials were purchased and delivered to our home in time for the project. Most contractors who bid our job included (for roughly similar labor quotes) the dreaded "Customer will provide all required materials". Umm... so... does anyone have any idea how stressful it would be to have to track down and buy guesstimates of the proper quantities of tile, flooring, fixtures, etc? Don't underestimate the frustration of the time, cost, compatibility, and supply chain pitfalls of this task when you're signing up for labor-only contractors. 3) Quality Work - NDK hires well-known subs with good reputations to perform the work. Sure, you're paying for the "pass-thru" but I guess I'd rather pay for someone who's worked in the area for 30 years with lots of references and a trail of great work on Houzz than some random from Yelp. Love Yelp but let's be real here - these are 5-figure and 6-figure projects and it's your home - are you willing to chance it? 4) Schedule - Ever hire a contractor who doesn't show up to work, leaves your house a mess, and doesn't give you a clue as to when they will return or if they will even finish? NDK eliminates that nightmare by giving you a clear schedule at the outset of the job and sticks to it. You can see measurable progress nearly every day and feel confident that the work will be done as promised without price or schedule overruns. I suppose it's patently unfair to rate a company high or low based on your own expectations of value. Again we aren't all able to do it ourselves. I tend to rate based on my experience and how I was treated. NDK treated us well. They provided a level of handholding I couldn't find anywhere else in the one job I wanted to feel comfortable getting help on. We had a completed design before work started, a firm schedule of major milestones, all the materials purchased and delivered for us, and excellent communication with the design and construction team through the process. Loose floor tiles with crumbling grout ever since they "completed" the reno. 2) They will do a poor job. They will pretend they didn't make a mistake and then they will blame you for the mistake they made. They installed a shower in our bathroom and the water only came out all hot or all cold. They tried to tell me that some shower heads were just that way. They messed up the installation of our vanity and initially said the only fix was for us to pay for a new custom counter - I had to fight them tooth and nail on both for a halfway decent response. 3) They tried to shake me down for final payment while there were still multiple unfinished issues. 4) They use garbage components/suppliers - tiling has marks and is poorly installed. Fixtures break down quickly. This is no where near the complete list. You are better off doing a bathroom reno yourself, blindfolded and drunk. Do not use this company.

NV Kitchen and Bath did a very complete renovation of a condominium for us. This included redoing…read morethe entire electrical system, gutting and rebuilding the kitchen, installing all new appliances, gutting and rebuilding two bathrooms, building and installing built-in cupboards, installing all new lighting and hardware, and installing new floors throughout. The job was particularly challenging because the condo is in a 1938 building with concrete walls and ceilings. The team also had to work around the restrictions that come with working in a condo in DC--limited work hours, the need to accommodate neighbors, DC regulations, etc. Our designer, Italo, had excellent ideas and suggestions and helped us find finishings that met our taste and budget. Our day-to-day foreman, Edgar, was a joy to work with and was unfailingly helpful and kind. We are thrilled with the final results. We got the warm, inviting home we were looking for and couldn't be happier.
