The most concerning part us this is that no one informed us that this had happened. We discovered the damage on our own. As homeowners we expect honesty and transparency when accidents occur, especially during our home project. After discovering this issue, we attempted to communicate with the company to address the situation. Unfortunately, dealing with the management--specifically the vice president--only made matters worse. Communication was awful, we were given conflicting information, and she continued to lie and simply ignore the situation. Home improvement projects require trust, professionalism and accountability. Sadly, our experience lacked all of these things. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to carefully evaluate their customer service and communication practices before moving forward.

We found this company, operated by Gina and Dustin, via their appearances on The Morning Blend Show…read moreon TMJ4 in 2024 and were very glad that we did. Our project was a complete modern remodel of all three bathrooms and laundry room of our 30 year old house. Gina's designs and attention to detail caught our attention and she (and Dustin) worked with us through several revisions to the proposal to get things exactly the way we wanted them. They started the project within about a month of our signing the proposal which was much appreciated. Their proposal was very competitive as compared with another (big) company we got a proposal from. We ended up saving a lot of money but got the high end finishes such as LVP flooring and Kohler plumbing fixtures that we wanted. Our remodel went smoothly and Dustin and his crew were an absolute pleasure to work with. They finished the project on time and it turned out perfect - exactly what we had hoped for. The subcontractors that were brought in for electrical, plumbing, drywall, and paint work were a pleasure to work with. Gina's stylish sense of design was just what we wanted. We received rave reviews from family and friends about what we had done. She even helped us a lot with decorating suggestions for the remodeled rooms. After having been almost embarrassed about the state of these four important rooms of the house, it is now a pleasure to use all of them. The value of the remodel has been great and we have no regrets. The quality of the work and materials has been durable since the work was done a year ago. We now smile when we use any of the rooms. We would definitely look to using Twine in Design - team Gina and Dustin - in the future for our next remodeling project. They are extremely highly recommended! Thanks Gina and Dustin!

We hired Twine In Design to update all the interior doors, casings and floor moldings in our 2 story home from original oak to colonial style white and 2 panel solid core doors. We are overall dissatisfied with the quality of work that was done. The attention to detail is sub-par resulting in us having to go back through and recaulk many of the corners of the trim that had 2-3mm gaps, live with a barn door that is too narrow for the door opening, 1 1/4 inch gaps under every door (including sliders), floor molding that is set up too high, a door that rubs against the frame when it closes, wall damage, really bad trim cuts (everywhere), unlevel doors and overall really poor quality of materials (they purchased from Western). We brought all of these concerns up to Dustin and Gina over several in person and phone conversations and kept getting excuses such as "that is the way the door was manufactured", "you are going to have wall damage from installing trim", "there is nothing I can do about that", "it's like that because of the carpet" and so on. He did admit to not doing some items right the first time which he went back and fixed - kind of. Dustin also spent an extra day fixing the many many items that were not done correctly but caulk can't fix everything and we are seeing that now. Credit to them for contacting Western to get the damaged doors replaced. We have since noticed other defects like trim pieces being cracked that should not have been used in the first place. We told Dustin several times to slow down and take his time; we are unsure if he just rushed the entire project or this was his first job of this nature - we think both. By his last day on the job, it was obvious he wanted to be done and I was so frustrated, I wanted him to be done, too, despite being really unhappy with the end result and the amount of money we paid to have this work completed. We now have to live with these defects in our new home which drive me personally crazy every day and every day I kick myself for not doing more homework on the company we hired and not putting my foot down when were dissatisfied with the work being completed from the very beginning.

We got several bids and ultimately went with North Shore Kitchen & Bath because (1) their bid was competitive with everyone else who bid, (2) we had them recommended by neighbors, (3) we loved the convenience of the turn-key (start-to-finish) service with a full showroom and (4) the fact that we picked all materials out before signing a full contract meant we were able to have a much more accurate idea of the actual final cost going into the remodel. They met with us several times and we fine-tuned the contract and our product choices so that all our questions and decisions were down in writing. They began the work on the day specified and we were given a 6-8 week timeline; the job was finished in 6 weeks, 3 days. We had a few change orders along the way due to some unexpected structural issues and some minor additions we made along the way but the change order costs were all signed off on by us before the work and all reasonable give the additional scope of work. Throughout the entire process, Rick, Tom and the whole team were honest and transparent. Not only was their work impeccable, but they addressed all my concerns as they cropped up and they kept the rest of my house as clean as possible (which was impressive considering they were renovating and repairing water damage on all three levels of our home). The whole team was also extremely friendly, and were very gracious to my two kids who asked them a million questions about the process and also gave attention to my people-loving dog. I also want to give a special shout-out to our designer, Beth. She was very good at understanding what we were going for in our design, was able to merge my husband's and my differing viewpoints on items and also helped steer us towards options that we didn't consider in the beginning, but were of course, ultimately the correct choice. We would recommend Rick, Tom and the whole North Shore Kitchen & Bath team in a heartbeat. We have another 1960s original bathroom to redo in the future and as soon as we have the funds saved up, we know who to call!

North Shore Kitchen & Bath completed my kitchen project recently. It was not a complete kitchen…read moreremodel - I had my walls/cabinets painted, replaced the countertop/sink, and added a backsplash. I am mostly happy with the overall result of the project, and the cost was more affordable than other businesses with whom I discussed the project. However, I will say the process to get to the final result could have been much smoother. NSKB's communication was lacking. From the beginning of the process when I was working with the designer to pick out finishes, I would have to reach out myself whenever I wanted an update because I would go weeks (sometimes over a month) without getting any information. When I did reach out, I usually had to follow up multiple times before I finally got an email back. I was told a start date for my project, and then when I reached out with a question later the designer mentioned a different date. The change had not been run by me or communicated to me. Had I not reached out myself, I wouldn't have known until they showed up that morning to start. The painters had to come back multiple times for touch ups after finishing the initial job. They got paint on my under-cabinet lighting and hardware because they didn't tape around or remove them; they just painted around things. Paint was spilled on my floors and the NSKB team was able to clean it up a majority of the way, but there is a permanent spot that is darker than the rest of my floor. The team also lost two pieces from hinges and were not able to hang the last cabinet door. It took NSKB almost 2 months to come back and find a solution after I followed up with them multiple times. Overall, the project that was supposed to be completed in early December ended up taking until the end of January.

Given we had a budget, many stores scoffed at us when we walked in and they found out we didn't want to spend $8/sqft on wood flooring. Other places like Home Depot and Lowes lacked the style and choices we were craving...not to mention a severe lack of customer service as well. We were just about ready to settle when a real estate developer told us to try Hunt's Flooring in West Allis. From the moment we walked in, Tony and the rest of the staff quickly turned the frustration of picking a floor into a very enjoyable experience! Right from the start it felt different than the other stores we went into...it felt "right!" Tony warmly greeted us and got a feel for the project we had at hand. He eagerly educated us on different types of flooring, happily accepting the terms of our budget, and steered us in the right direction of the products he offered...which were very plentiful! Tony seemed eager to share his craft...Want to "hear" the difference between a floated vs. nailed down floor? Visit this place just for that amazing experience! What we valued most about Hunt's is that, right from the start, we felt like they valued us as a customer of their store. Before we even started to commit to purchasing something from them, the staff spent a lot of time helping us find the right product for our project...and also allowed us to have alone time searching and talking, free from salesman tactics or distractions. We never felt like we were getting "sold" to...and that was SO refreshing! When we finally did find something we loved and ordered it from them, the customer service didn't stop. Given our budget and my love of projects, I planned on installing the floor by myself. Many other stores, we quickly discovered, dissuade their customers from DIY. Tony was excited we were installing the floor by ourselves, and went out of his way to give us tips and tools to use throughout our project! If we ever need any flooring solution ever again, we will, hands-down, begin our search at Hunt's Flooring. What's more, we HIGHLY recommend anyone in the same boat as us to do the same!!
