    Banchan (refillable!)
    Melissa C.

Friday night and hungry, my boyfriend and I found our stomachs craving for some Korean food so we went to the recently opened Woo Korean BBQ. I was dreading the smokey BBQ enclosure but at Woo's the BBQ exhaust intake is from under the grill on the table, so there was very little smoke from the tables grilling away. The seating area is pretty large, so lots of capacity for small to large groups - we didnt have to wait at all. We were feeling too lazy to BBQ our food but from the plates we saw coming out, everything looked pretty fresh and delicious! Also, looked like they had lots of grill plates at the ready to exchange if yours get too burned. I ordered the Ddukbaegi Bulgogi ($12.95) which comes with Rice & Banchan. The banchan served was a kimchi mashed potato, kimchi cucumbers and bean sprouts. All the banchan served was really good and I especially enjoyed the kimchi cucumbers, spicy and crunchy. When I asked the waitress if the banchan were refillable, she smiled and said, "Yes, of course! You can eat eat eat lots!" (Note: Throughout the night she was super sweet and refilled our tea and made cute comments). My boyfriend's Jeyuk Deopbap ($10.95) came pretty quickly and it was a pretty decent portion despite what other reviewers said about smaller portions. It definitely filled up my boyfriend and he really enjoyed how Woo wasn't shy with the spice. Lots of tender pork and good flavours in this giant rice bowl. My Ddukbaegi Bulgogi eventually came and it was boiling hot - soup was bubbling and ingredients were steaming - YUM! Lots of tender and marinated beef amoung the enoki mushrooms, onions, green onions and glass noodles. The broth was super rich and delicious, not overly salty too. I just wish there was more glass noodles because they were so bouncy and delicious. Also, with the bowl of rice was more than enough to fill me up and the broth to warm me up. You know it's good when I'm already super excited to make our return for lunch because the variety and price looks like a good deal. Great Korean food and friendly staff. There is also a little call bell at each table if you need to alert staff but they were pretty attentive with a wave of a hand. Also, we stayed near closing time and the staff were so tidy and cleaning everything quite meticulously - a good sign in any restaurant. Overall, quite happy Woo Korean BBQ is at Grandview Corners and looking forward to more of their food. You should come try too - Can I get a Woo Woo!

It's definitely nice to see a Korean BBQ restaurant opened in South Surrey! We walked by on the opening day but it was too crowded and we suspected that it would be a long wait. The next day, we decided to make a reservation which was proven to be a really good idea. We tried a seafood pancake, a soup and BBQ meat. The portions were on the smaller side, but everything was very tasty. For the small dish Korean style appetizers, I've definitely had better ones with more variety before. The interior and seating area were comfortable. Servers were friendly. If you're craving for Korean food in South Surrey, do check them out since I find that Korean food choices can be scarce in the area.

This place, tucked away just 5 minutes' driving distance from Coquitlam Centre, is clearly beloved by the local Korean community. The portion sizes are generous. They are perfect for sharing with family or friends. We saw many families and younger groups dining in, which gave it a cozy, homey vibe. We can taste the love and comfort in every bite. Here's what we ordered: * Beef Tartare Bibimbap - Not your typical bibimbap! The raw beef was beautifully seasoned and full of flavour. This was hands down our favourite dish! * Naengmyeon - Cold noodles in a super refreshing broth. Perfectly chewy with a balanced, savoury tang. A must-have on a hot day. * Japchae - Excellent portion, great price. The noodles were springy and not greasy at all--just the right balance of flavour. Great value, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours--Hansol is definitely going on our go-to list whenever we're craving comforting Korean food. We are highly recommend it for students, families, or anyone who loves real Korean cooking! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! Price: $30-$40 each person (dinner) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: 4/5 Tips: * Free refillable banchan (side dishes) * Must-try: naengmyeon (cold noodles) * Hidden gem: beef tartare bibimbap-flavourful and beautifully presented. * Limited seating - expect wait during peak hours * Tasty, affordable, and generous portions Would I Return: Yes ‍

We ordered short rib BBQ, Beef tartare Bibimbap, and original-flavor deep-fried chicken wings. Beef tartare Bibimbap was served in a hot stone bowl with a variety of vegetables on top of the rice. The gochujang sauce was served separately, allowing us to adjust the spiciness to our preference. It was a pretty good dish. The short rib BBQ was very tender and nicely seasoned. It was slightly on the sweeter side, very delicious. I will definitely order it again. The original flavor deep-fried chicken wings were served fresh and hot. They were incredibly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside--very good! Next time, I should order them with a flavored seasoning, as I already knew the original version was cooked with less saltiness, meant to be paired with a sauce. Overall, I really like this restaurant. The food tasted good, and the most notable point was the reasonable price! It was a very good deal, and it has now become one of my regular go-to places.

Our party of six waited over an hour to be seated. If my mother hadn't spoken up, we likely would have waited even longer. Although reservations are not accepted, guests are placed on a waitlist upon arrival. Our name was clearly on the queue, but not in Korean and while I initially understood smaller parties of two or four being seated ahead of us based on table availability, concerns arose when another party of six--who was behind us in line (name was written in Korean--was seated before us. This was deeply frustrating, as we were next in line for a table that could accommodate six people. When we raised the issue, the hostess admitted it was a mistake, yet still chose to seat the other group first. They were 5th in the queue. Despite our complaint, there was no sincere apology, and we were forced to wait an additional 10 minutes while they set up another table. The entire situation left us feeling unfairly treated and discriminated against. As loyal customers who regularly spend over $300 per visit ordering family combos, extra dishes, drinks, and more, this was incredibly disappointing. Sadly, we will not be returning. There are many other restaurants that treat their customers with fairness, respect, and appreciation.

We got the army stew (Budae jjigae) to share plus an order of Korean fried chicken. The staff recommended that when we asked what RO order for an appetizer or side. She said the fried chicken is the popular item. The soy garlic chicken was delicious. I like the army stew which is a guilty pleasure as it contains mostly processed meat like spam and sausage and a slice of American cheese and instant noodle. My friend never tried it before and while she liked the soup, she didn't like the processed stuff. She mostly had the tofu and rice cakes in there. The place was quite busy when we we were there on a Tuesday night. I guess it is a popular spot in the area. Parking is available out front.
