Went to Dr. Wong because had badly broken my left wrist and he was in-network surgeon, after initially getting wrist stabilized in ER. Although I had 2 sets of X-rays, he insisted on doing a 3rd set (more expense). Then he basically said that I needed surgery, and we'd have a hard time finding the combination of operating facility, doctor and anesthesiologist who would all take our insurance (which is turning out to be true). He didn't seem interested in doing it himself. We couldn't tell if it was because he felt it was too complex for him (he does mostly sports injuries, he said), or because of the insurance constraints. So, essentially a wasted visit, and unnecessary expense, especially the extra X-rays. Probably just wanted to pad his bill, since he had no intention of providing any other care or support to me after this visit.
All the while, he's asking how we were treated by him and his staff, and why doesn't my Primary Care Physician refer more people to him? He complained quite a bit about my PCP referring only Medicare and Obamacare cases to him, and wondered why he didn't like him more, asking that I put in the good word with him. Well, after our treatment there, including his self-promotional pleadings I've urged my PCP to steer people as far away from him as possible. He also talks very loudly with the exam room doors open, so everyone there can hear him discussing other people's cases (and yours!) from down the hall. Very unprofessional, to say the least. Oh, and he wanted to get a CAT-scan and Dexa scan done as well, and scheduled the imaging place to call us to set it up. More unneeded expense, as it turns out, as my current Dr. never recommended or required those. Avoid. read more
