Cute little paper shop with a dedicated colored pencil area that made me swoon. They have merch dedicated to the store cat - amazing - AND you can buy vials of the toilet water from their famous haunted bathroom. I did not buy it. Yet. The staff is friendly but quiet. The store is really fun.

If you've ever had the urge to spend your entire paycheck at a stationery store, you'll love Wonder Fair. This little store is so much larger on the inside than it seems, and the selection and variety of goods is fantastic. This is the only place in the greater KC area where you can find an array of stationery from Japan, the UK, and all over the States, as well as whatever pens or art supplies you're looking for. Wonder Fair also has its own unique culture that perfectly fits Lawrence. If you're exploring the city and/or making a day trip out here, you've got to swing by to meet Dave the Wonder Fair cat and see the haunted bathroom. This place is a veritable Lawrence landmark at this point, so be sure to stop by and pick up something cute and quirky on your way out.

Love the staff! Very kind, very friendly. Helped me search for a bee print for 20 minutes- I super appreciated that. Dave, the golden tabby, is so sweet. Definitely a must visit place in Lawrence. Get some prints to decorate your home!

What a cool place! Even the least creative person would be filled with inspiration after browsing through all the cool offerings. I will try to describe Wonder Fair. It's a stationery store, a gift shop, an art supply, an art space, and a cat haven. I found lots of funky and eccentric (and socially conscious) items. Honestly, if you only have time for one shopping excursion on Mass., stop in here (and maybe the Dusty Bookshelf).

I really enjoyed perusing this local shop, and the staff was friendly as well. I love that town pride is in, whether it's team pride, KC shirts everywhere, Lawrence prints. It's awesome, and we do have a lot of cool things to be proud of. Wonder Fair does a great job of encapsulating that, while also having a large collection of different things to check out. The other reviews do a great job referencing all the different things they have - what I'd recommend to add some value here is to just pop in when you have at least 10 minutes to kill. Aimlessly walking down Mass St. is one of the best parts about being in Larry in general, right? May as well check these guys out. My favorite thing in general were all the cool cards, both from Hammerpress in KC and other local artists. The struggle was real when picking out cards until spots like this came around. Side note: There was some hand-drawn, random E.T. illustrated book that just made me lose it. It was hilarious.

So excited they carry a wide variety of planners. Staff are kind. It's like a candy store for people who love stationary and art supplies!

Lots of selection for both the average student who is curious about upgrading their stationary, to the fussy hobbyist like myself.

I do like their selection of greeting cards, wrapping paper and so much more. Great small gift…read moreideas and stocking stuffers. Prices are in the middle and people who complain about a candle being $28-3, well, you can simply not buy it. The candles are more than likely either locally made or you are in fact, supporting a non-corporate spot so you will pay a bit ore for several things. Sure, you can take your butt to Target and buy a birthday card for $3.99 or you can come here and spend $6 for a REALLY awesome and unique card. I guess it's all about perspective. The staff is simply okay here. Never a warm feeling like other stores on Mass but I do stop in about once a month.

I braved parking downtown to go to this stationary store and I sure wished I had saved my time and efforts. They have some adorable things in this establishment. I was all set to make a big purchase until I turned into a ghost. The young lady at the front desk was not on her phone but she was on her computer. She never looked at me. I walked right in front of her and type, type, type. Casper, I tell ya. No one greeted me, no one offered help, no one even knew I was in the store. Type, type, type. I looked at the items in my bag and I decided not to purchase anything at this store. They made me feel uncomfortable and not valued as a customer. I could not believe there was not one word spoken to me. How difficult would it have been to give me a kind "Hello!"? Well, apparently, that is too much to ask from this store. As a customer I had to make an effort to drive downtown from south Lawrence, fight for a parking space, pay for parking just to browse this store. The very least I should have received was a welcome. Perhaps a stationary and printing store in a high rent area already has enough customers and they don't need my money. I would think they would need all the customers they can get in their location. I will not be back despite the cool things they had in the store.

Not sure what happened to Hancock but I hope Jo-Ann intends to stick around for awhile. I have been to the Lawrence store twice. Both times I've been looking for specific items. The first time they didn't have or stock the items I needed but I still had an enjoyable shopping experience. During my second visit, they had the item I wanted and then some. This store is, oddly, arranged much like Hancock Fabric was arranged. The fabric notions are on the left side of the store and in the back of the store. There are rows of craft items displayed very similarly to the former Hancock displays. So it was very easy to navigate the store and find what I needed. Everything is nicely arranged and there were many shelves of sale items which I always appreciate! The lighting on some of the shelving is bright and cheery. I was in the bead section and the items were really illuminated. The clerks were very friendly and personable. I had a coupon on my cell phone but I had left my phone at home. The cashier gave me the discount anyway. I appreciated her help. The clerk on other visit was equally as friendly and helpful. She gave me coupons to use, as well. We talked about her sewing projects and she was very pleasant. Great store, friendly service, reasonable prices. I know I'll be back! I am glad to see them in Lawrence.

I usually piece things together to create something new so Joann's has become the place that I go for my creative crafty items. First off I don't like the location of this place because if you don't live in the area you'll never see it from the main road, however I can easily overcome that because when you walk inside the store is clean. the shelves are always fully stocked and what I love most about them is that they always have a sale on some thing. I have never gone in there and paid full price for anything. I catch a sale every time I shop there. The biggest complaint that I do have with them, is the staff is never at the front of the store to greet customers. If a thief wanted to steal something they could easily do it and go right outside the door as easily as they came in because there's no one there to watch. Now maybe because the store has security cameras the staff have convinced themselves that it doesn't matter if their presence be at the front of the store, But for customers it raises concern to see that you have to actually be standing at the registers ready to check out before someone comes to the front of the store. That is a very scary way to run your business. Other than that concern, I love shopping there. I love being able to find unique and creative patterns and fabrics and items that I can put together to create something entirely my own.

I like looking at the collections, but I manage to stay away from them. If you want Jayhawk of any kind: material, cross stitch patterns, anything, they have it. But, other than that, they are quite small. The quilt shop area is kind of cool, again, great for people who do quilting, and live in Lawrence. Jayhawk fabric is hard to find elsewhere. I have alot of it in my stash, thanks to this store. As for other cross stitch items, kind of basic supplies I can get in Missouri. But, when I participate in the cross stitch shop hop,I always pick up a Lawrence, KU or Jayhawk pattern or fabric of some kind. It sits on Mass. Street, up the street from the Yarn Barn. There is parking on the street, it is metered. There is plenty of stores to visit while on Mass. Street. So, plan accordingly.

We're basically talking twins here except for the needlework section in the back of shop here at Stitch On. Crafted collectibles include Department 56 and Byer's Choice. You'll also find a large selection of Vera Bradley purses and bags to throw your crap in. For the decorator, its a paradise of holiday items to "festivus" your home. (C'mon you Seinfeld freaks!) I'd say the shop's greatest asset was the service. Her involvement and conversation over frankensteins and draculas had me grinning from ear to ear.
