What a fun shop! I…read morewas in some sort of dopamine overload in here. Pens... notepads... stickers... oh, my! What a spot to land in KS. The prices are what you would expect at any stationary store but the selection is huge! I couldn't even take everything in. I know there was a sticker that said something about being overstimulated and it applied. I need to go back when I have unlimited time to explore. I left with several pens, a couple of small notepads, and some stickers! If you need anything in this realm, this is the place to go in Lawrence. Right in the 800 block of Massachusetts which seems to be the street for shopping in Lawrence. Not only are the products and the staff amazing, but there's 2 gems at this shop you won't find anywhere else - Dave is the bomb, and the haunted bathroom experience is as well. I'm just letting you know to go and experience them. No way I am spoiling it even though I'm sure someone will! lol It won't be me! Love this local gem in Lawrence!

Well, actually it is, because it's full of cool stuff. Think gift shop + art shop + boutique curio, and maybe that *starts* to describe the space. There are plenty of keepsakes, art supplies, and gift ideas that will run your tab up very quickly. It's all good stuff, mind you, but it's almost like they should have an "I'll take one of everything package". The front of the store is mostly boutique-ish and has a small up and downstairs. You can find gifts for just about anyone, and this is the kind of place where you can stuff stockings or get something unique for that special someone. If you need ideas, then ask one of the staff who are always willing to help. If you need specifics in the art department, then there is a station in the back to help you with various items such as paper types or other supplies. The unique nature of some of the items leads to perhaps some higher prices, but the value is spot on. You're finding gifts, not clipping coupons, so enjoy and shop a little. For everything that you think might be marked a little high, just remind yourself that you probably aren't going to find that in very many other places. And that's the fun of shopping: just browsing when you have the time and maybe the resources, looking at things that you didn't know you were going to find, and in this case, helping a great small business thrive.

WOW! What a neat shop. There is a little of (almost) everything in this downtown store. It is…read moredefinitely an artists mecca. The Phoenix Gallery offers unique offerings and interesting little oddities for everyone. They have everything from chip & dip bowls to earrings. This store has been around for awhile. I remember shopping at their former location when I first moved to Lawrence in 1991. I was just as mesmerized then as I am now. This store is so big, it is actually two levels. On this visit, I was so overwhelmed that I only visited the first level. I did not dare go upstairs because I knew there would be so many more temptations for me. There is everything from crafted rare wood bowls to dichroic glass. Everything is displayed very neatly and in an eye catching way. The proprietors have done a great job at showcasing the artists they support. The staff was very nice and helpful. They were patient while I asked my usual 1,000 questions and asked to see everything they had in the locked cases. lol. They were extremely kind. There is parking in front of the store, if you are lucky enough to get a space. That is the only downside to shopping downtown and that is finding a parking space. There is a new mobile app system the city is using for parking and it is convenient once you figure it out. Prices are very reasonable for these artistic pieces. I was surprised considering this store is in a high rent building and these pieces are handcrafted. If you want something out of the ordinary and one-of-a-kind... I highly recommend the Phoenix Gallery. It's like a real live Etsy store but better!

It is a wonderful gift shop as well as gallery. There's a lot of unexpected finds to be had.read more
