I LOVE this place. Their recent(?) expansion has been a great change for their space. They've got an insane crystal selection, and the cutest clothes. The employees are extremely helpful. I always have such a great experience here. They've also got a great assortment of nose piercing studs upstairs that I always appreciate. read more

I always love stopping in. Sadly, they do not carry many new things. You can go there today and 6 months later, the exact same stuff will be there with very few exceptions. Wish they carried more roll on or solid perfume like they used to. I do like a lot of their stuff, very unique and it's a great option for gift giving. Please switch out your merchandise. Shout out to the always super friendly and welcoming staff. read more

The people are amazingly kind, and the product they sell is authentic and beautiful! I love this place probably one of my favorite stores and I would go back here many many times. I've bought a few things from there and they've held up really really well. read more

Shopping in Lawrence, Kansas?? Make sure to stop by Third Planet Imports in downtown Lawrence! This hippy boutique has a wide variety of items: stunning gems, fun games, affordable and good quality clothes, awesome posters and decorations...you name it, this spot may have it! I purchased color-block pants, a crop sweater, another long sleeve shirt, & a dress for a little under $50. Our group bought some stickers, trinkets, and a cute skirt. Looking for a bong, some 60s hippie styled tie-dye clothing, the incense of your current or former youth, maybe a hipster ear stud or the ultimate source for LFK, ELFK, NLFK stickers, some 60s posters, etc.? Look no further. Yep, kids, a place ol' granny would dig, bringing back her slowly forgotten memories of frayed bell bottoms, hoop earrings and VW vans of the 60s. I've never checked but pretty sure if you're looking for some patchouli oil to rub onto whatever it is you'd like to rub it onto, it's found here. If so, head down to Waxman afterwards and grab a candle. There, all set for a night of 60s action you might not remember the following day. It's the kind of place that you used to find everywhere but are now somewhat a rarity. I like this place because there's no doubt about what's going on here, and it works. Came in to pick up an extra ELFK sticker for a family member, because, well, when you're driving around Calgary, Canada, you never know when someone might recognize it. So now that the "don't trust anyone over 40" crowd has grown up and we've discovered it was themselves they were talking about, head on in and get some of the good attitude going on here. It was certainly better then than it is now. Peace. read more

The Third Planet - If you have to ask what this means you aren't from here. - Accessories Near Me - Lawrence, Kansas

Crystal, crystal on the wall...whose the greatest of them all??? Anything out of the world automatically qualifies! Third planet definitely imports antiques, crystals, statues, fabrics, hats, and handcrafted glass for people right in the middle of America to enjoy. The fact that someone even thought of a store providing so much culture to a small town that continuously growing because of people like this deserve a standing ovation. This review has been a long time coming and I apologize for the wait. I've been to this store numerous times and have always found something I can bring home to make my life better. Come in and see how this place can improve yours! read more

Super cute headshop. Got a vast array of items from smoking accessories to locally made goods to a giant collection of gemstones. Would definitely recommend visiting again! read more

Third Planet is a very cool shop. When you walk in, you are surrounded by 60s and 70s inspired clothing and colors, with a college twist. There are bumper stickers, incense, joke novelty items, and plenty of hip apparel (admittedly at not too hip prices) to choose from. But, go upstairs. They will card you (must be 18), but their assortment of American-made glass will leave you breathless. The headie pieces carried in this store will make your jaw drop, and there are some very nice, distinctive pieces of art in there at some reasonable prices. They also carry all sorts of cheaper glass for those who cannot afford the others. They also sell a variety of aromatherapy devices and herbs, as well as various other substances for relaxation, including Kratom. I smiled as I walked past the various jars, grinders, and pipes. The staff has been hit or miss as far as knowledge goes, but there are definitely some people up there who know their stuff. There's also a neat poster selection! read more

I must be getting old, because every Lawrence store I talk about used to be somewhere else -- and I know where that somewhere was! Third Planet used to be a seasonal store, with lots of cheap imports that made great Christmas presents when you had a lot of friends and not much money. Eventually Third Planet became a full-time store. They also settled in a bigger space and expanded their inventory. Today the store would be a head shop -- if they were still legal in Kansas. Since they're not, Third Planet at least has the smells, colors and clientele to make you think you're in one. There's always incense burning or some really strong candles near the front door. You take in those aromas as you walk around checking out the tie-dye shirts and anti-war bumperstickers. Third Planet is a good store for novelty stuff too, like Crazy Cat Lady action figures and Sarcasm Club signs (like we need your support). The pipes and paraphernalia may be gone, but if you listen, you can almost hear all the dudes and dudettes who've come before us singing about how they'd like to buy the world a Coke ... read more

I have been drawn to this little shop for as long as it's been around. It has a certain energy I can't describe that often I find on Mass street. Every time I come to Lawrence....you know the old story.... It has a lot of different items from Grateful dead stickers to bags to sterling silver charms, incense, and clothing. I lov the clothing. Thy carry candles, incense, goddess things, metaphysical things, spirit things, star children things. Blouses of if front designs and purses and backpacks....all kinds of cool stuff. And I love all of it. I would move to this town in 2 seconds just cause of the beat of Mass street. No wait that has already occurred, but I would move back. I find a lot of stores like this here, but none quite reach the capacity of the energy of this little corner shop. I always buy something here. And it's a comfortable store to shop in. read more

What a fun little shop! This is a perfect place to get unique and interesting gifts for a reasonable price. What did I buy? A Kansas postcard featuring a meadowlark (my fiance had no idea what a meadowlark was), a Barack Obama air freshener and 'Rain' scented incense, which just happens to be my favorite. There is an upstairs to the shop as well, which features the more iffy items such as drug paraphernalia, 'toys' (note the quotes) and jewelry for various body piercings. This department is managed by a lovely redhead by the name of Larissa who is always friendly and pleasant. Definitely give her a visit! read more

For a very long time, the main downtown bus hub was directly across the street from Third Planet. It has since moved a little bit down the way, and the schedule has changed such that I no longer have a twenty-minute delay between my buses. This has been a very good thing for me, financially speaking. My first foray into the store was to get incense, something I burn very frequently. The store has a lot of variety, so I smelled several different kinds and picked out a handful of nice scents and a new burner. Then the clothes caught my eye. I ended up blowing off the bus I had meant to take and leaving an hour later with the incense, $30 worth of jewelry, and an adorable floral top. Thus began my addiction. Since then, I've been frequenting the store fairly regularly. When my earlobes were still stretched, I often purchased large-guage jewelry and stretching supplies from the jewelry counters upstairs. I've also purchased several tops, my current favorite t-shirt, and a lovely dress from the store, as well as a couple of bags and some frangranced body oil. No purchase has ever turned out to be disappointing from a quality standpoint, and the staff at the store has always been extremely helpful and friendly. (Which is something you'd expect from a store full of hippies, but it's still refreshing to see on a strip full of snotty boutique owners.) read more

The only reason I visit this place is for the hand dipped incense. The staff are generally friendly except for the manager. I assume he is the manager anyway, he's always telling people what to do. He's sassy and condescending. Other than him, it's a great place for hand made products. They also have a nice upstairs... read more

Love the atmosphere, the variety of options, and the always friendly staff. On the main floor you can purchase anything from clothing and accessories to incense and soaps to salt and lace lamps. Need jewelry? They have selection for all tastes and price ranges. They also have the best card selection in town, ranging from hilarious to the coolest artistic blank cards. Upstairs is a variety of "smoking" accessories, from all you need for your vaping needs to beautiful glass blown pipes and more. Just walking by is a treat to the senses. A great place to enjoy a slow stroll through or to run in to find a quick unique gift. read more

Awesome laid back place. Unique clothing items and the best incense selection. Prices are great. 25 cents per stick. Friendly and no pressure while browsing. Lots of fun soaps with different slogans. Great place for an outside of the box gift. read more

Don't go to the upstairs of this place. Over priced and terrible customer service. Have purchased multiple pens and every single time they quit working within a few weeks. Take it in for the warranty and they try to make you buy new coils for half the price of the total pen. Pretty sure they are selling refurbished Kandy Pens as well as the last two Ive purchased have had wear on the bottom. Save your time and shop online. Have spent thousands of dollars at this place over my time in Lawrence and I will never be back. read more

I was shocked by prices in their head shop. Total rip off. Expected humane pricing from a chill retailer, but Third Planet is the PayDay Loans of Lawrence. For example, $275 for a vaporizer Amazon sells for $119. Or $12 for a one hitter 7th Heaven sells for $3. read more

Recently given a face lift on the inside, with wooden floors. They've rearranged so it's much easier to navigate and shop now. There's still so much in this store, it's a hit like treasure hunting every time you go in. Lots of great jewelry and incense. The clothes are good, but a bit pricy and hit or miss with size variety. The great thing about that is that once your find something that works for you... it's extremely unlikely you'll ever run into someone else wearing the same thing. I've purchased many clothes from here and they all last a long time. read more

The merchandise was awesome. but the employees were not helpful at all especially upstairs. awkward.

Third Planet is such a fantastic overall store. I love all of the incense, little knick knacks and jewelry pieces that are sold downstairs, but am definitely head over heels for the merchandise sold upstairs. I've purchased several pieces from the upstairs store and I have never been left disappointed. I've been to some of the other shops around the Kansas City area such as Cooper's and purchased things there, but nothing I've gotten there is anything in comparison with Third Planet. All of the pieces they have are beautiful and the ones I have at home are downright superb. Third Planet has both quantity and quality pieces for just about every price range. The customer service you receive not only downstairs but also upstairs is just amazing. There's always someone around to help you. I recently purchased a new setup for a piece I have, and not one, but two employees were able to help me find something that fit my needs without exploiting my lack of knowledge of the product. All of the staff members at Third Planet are extremely friendly and I will continue to return to Third Planet in the future. read more
