My memory of dentist visits were painful and traumatic. One of the reasons why I never went back to the dentist for many many years. Dr. Patel changed all that and going to the dentist regularly will now become a routine. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. There are many good doctors out there, but as good as a doctor is, as knowledgeable as the doctor is, if not enough care (time & effort) is given to the patient, then you end up with the wrong treatment or diagnosis. Dr. Patel took his time to explain in detail my condition, what the preventive measures are and next steps to take. Very comfortable environment to be in. Thank you Dr. Patel!

And, save for this hiccup, the administrative person has been nothing but friendly and welcoming. In addition, the service I've received there has been great (with the exception of one hygienist who I'm not sure even works there anymore, but I didn't catch their name anyway), and I have no complaints about the facilities. I am still hesitant to give a full 5 stars just because of the payment policy (which again is that they expect you to pay upfront for all services, and then will refund you once they receive the reimbursement check from your insurance company). I do understand the reasoning behind this and sympathize, given the sad state of health and dental insurance in this country. However, I'm personally not comfortable with the idea of being out several hundred dollars for a couple weeks before the claim is fully processed (even if you know you'll receive a refund, it can still be a financial burden to wait two weeks or so before you receive it). If you are not concerned about that, however, I would recommend Dr. Antonakos for sure.

I saw Dr. Chang in January 2020 for a routine check-up…read more Pros: - Very friendly staff - Dr. Chang spent a lot of time with me and listened to my concerns and clearly explained things - Used newer technology which made me feel more taken care of Cons: - Pushing procedures - Told me I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed. I then went to an oral surgeon who refused to remove them because there was nothing wrong with them. A lot of the time spent with Dr. Chang was her telling me what was wrong with my teeth. I have an overbite and she was insistent on doing something about it for my long-term health of my mouth which is fine, but she kept asking if I have to consciously close my mouth even though I said it's not an issue. She told me that I had cavities on all four of my wisdom teeth and needed to remove them before the cavity spread to neighboring teeth. I ended up making an appointment with an oral surgeon close to where I live and he took an x-ray and said my wisdom teeth were perfect and he didn't see any cavities, but even if there were any, they were minor enough that I didn't need to do anything yet. They also recommended I have a cleaning three times a year to keep an eye on some slight gum recession - not sure if that is the standard protocol - Insurance issues - Did not take my insurance and did not tell me till my exam was almost done and the receptionist gave me false information about my insurance. On Zocdoc I filtered to dentists who took my insurance, then booked an appointment with Dr. Chang. I had my x-rays taken and my cleaning was done, then the receptionist came in saying that my insurance was on a fee schedule and told me my insurance covered very little and asked me if I wanted to continue with the exam. She told me that it would cost the same at any other dentist, so I said sure let's just continue it. So I was charged $450 for something that I expected to be free, although they allowed me to pay $350. I found out later that Dr. Chang is out of network, and that is why it was on a fee schedule. I contacted Zocdoc to report false information, and Zocdoc said it is supposed to be maintained by the individual dentist office, but it is now fixed - Scheduling issues - I was supposed to have an appointment on Monday, and Friday they called and left a voicemail to cancel. It is my fault for not checking my voicemail, but they said they texted me when they did not

Jessica was awesome in helping me figure out costs and working tirelessly with my insurance. Thanks! It was done in two parts (to allow the other half of the mouth to be able to eat after each session). It was a great alternative than have to be cut open, sutured back up and having to withstand a longer healing time period. The process itself is quite painless, just a few quick pinches for numbing and after that it's pretty much a breeze. Dr. Devito has a very soft tender hand and is very accommodating to any discomfort. The process takes about an hour and the only downside is the smell of the laser zapping away all the germs and bacteria. Way better than having to go under a knife however. I appreciated asking the millions of questions and having each answered expertly and thoroughly. Recovery: It takes a few days for your mouth to stop feeling sore and having to eat only mushy foods, no straw usage, surprisingly strict no brushing or flossing of the treated area for a week, just the use of a special mouthwash that can be purchased in the office. Medication is prescribed for pain and as antibiotics. But honestly I didn't really need the pain meds so much. Results: So Its only been a bit over a week from finalizing all quadrants in my mouth but I can say that I've noticed a dramatic difference in that my gums no longer bleed anymore when brushing or flossing. I also feel that my mouth feels a lot fresher even though I have alway been an adamant brusher and mouthwasher. Flossing was what I avoided a lot due to the sensitivity of my gums and bleeding. Now with no sight of either, I actually find myself to floss every single day at least once. And my greatest compliment today and has me was that my "gums never looked better" and am so happy I got the procedure done. Now I just need to maintain and keep monitoring my gum health. But there really is no describing the feeling of accomplishment in my mouth health journey, from when I was first diagnosed months ago to today when I am happy to have invested in this procedure. Teeth are important!

When I questioned it, the staff became defensive and dismissive. They billed my Cigna DHMO plan under routine cleaning/consultation codes instead of the correct emergency visit -- clearly to manipulate reimbursement. Every person there knew exactly what was happening -- it felt orchestrated and fraudulent. I've already filed a complaint with Cigna and will be reporting this clinic to the New York State Dental Board. Avoid this office at all costs.
