Most importantly, they were always willing to help if I had any issues. For example, one time after two days of regular braces adjustment, the wire started to poke my cheek. Despite it being a Friday (a non-working day in Wolfe), a team member helped me to fix the issue before the weekend. Dr. Hsu is the best. I got my braces done here back in 2009/2010, and I remember the place was pretty new and the front desk lady was his wife. They were both so nice and attentive. Several years later, I had to come back a few times because I kept on losing my retainers (ugh). However, even after all these years, Dr. Hsu has kept a friendly environment with multiple employees now. After visiting several orthodontists, Dr. Shu was the one I chose to go ahead with my retainers. I really appreciated that he was very thorough at my free consultation, he not only looked at my teeth, but jaw, bite, and facial structure as well. He listened to all my concerns and made a plan for me that catered to my wish for a shorter time commitment. Every visit has been smooth and all the staff members have been extremely nice and helpful. I'm really happy that I was able to find a cost-friendly orthodontic option to fix several of my teeth. What really compelled me to write this review, however, is the extreme care and understanding when it came to insurance. The insurance ended up not paying me as much as was anticipated, and Dr. Shu and his staff have been trying to accommodate for this, even going as far as figuring things out with my insurance company and finding options to put some of the financial burden off my shoulders. My 3 kids have been seeing Dr. Hsu and later Dr. Yoon for 6 years. We love Dr. Yoon and all of the staffs and assistants. We have no problem to schedule the appointments at the desired time and the wait time is acceptable. Because our kids started around 8.5 years old to extend the teeth and their teeth grow slowly, it takes long to wait till the wisdom teeth can be extracted. Our Phase 1 + 2 have been 6 years. However, Dr Yoon never mentions to stop the treatment according to the time length in the contact. She patiently wait for the teeth to grow, wisdom teeth to be extracted, then finish the rest of the treatment to meet her satisfaction. Last year, my husband and I also started to wear Invisalign invisible braces according to our periodontist's suggestion. After wearing 28 braces for 28 weeks, Dr. Yoon made the new 3D scan of my teeth and order the new set of Invisalign braces to fit my teeth better. My husband also got the new set of Invisalign braces and discard the old set. We feel our teeth are well taken care of. read more

Dr. Sarah Yoon took over from Dr. Hsu a little over a year ago. She is amazing. My daughter's treatment plan is anything but normal or routine and Dr. Yoon has recommended treatment that has made a TREMENDOUS amount of progress with her overbite and teeth alignment. Her treatment plan is going so well that my daughter will not have to have jaw surgery later in life like we all thought she would. I could not be happier with Dr. Yoon. She has made herself available when on vacation when we've had unexpected needs to go into the office on a semi emergency, which is above and beyond to me. After having 4 consultations with other orthodontists in the area, we decided to go with Dr Hsu. A couple of reasons were: 1) He took at least an hour at the initial consultation to explain how braces effectively work on teeth, step by step process, and maintaining straight teeth after braces. 2) Dr Hsu really cares about his patients! We could tell by the way he spoke and took the time to answer all our questions. Not once did we feel rushed by other appointments or patients. 3) His practice and office space was professional, and he makes time for each individual, which is extremely important to us. (I definitely didn't like other practices that were like a production or assembly line, 5 chairs with people all together with their mouths open). 4) Communication and service between us, Dr Hsu, and Lorraine were great! Especially through emails corresponding to appointments, and any other questions we had pertaining to orthodontics. 5) Equipment/facility had X-ray machines for your convenience so you don't need to go to another location to get those done. Braces are In-ovation, which are better and less painful than the old metal rubber band type. 6) Had reasonable payment options available, and conveniently close to home. 7) Yelp reviews, I'm definitely a yelper and I go to businesses/restaurants based on reviews and pictures. Way to go fellow yelpers!! These were all deciding factors for us, and although he isn't in network and we have to pay more out of pocket, we felt that Dr Hsu would do an excellent job. Him and his staff go above and beyond; my husband needed to work while waiting and they let him use a private office along with wifi. Wow! Our son just had his braces put on, and Dr Hsu did an exceptional job! Plus he took another additional 30 minutes to explain how to clean, floss, and take care of it. Dr Hsu has been my daughter's orthodontist for over a year now. We asked around at her school for orthodontist recommendations, and received three or four strong leads. However, on meeting Dr Hsu and seeing the thorough and respectful way that he spoke to my daughter and to me, we decided to forgo the other interviews and go with him. As a mom watching this process for the first time, I have found Dr. Hsu to be very intelligent, patient, personable, available, and clear in his communications with me. My daughter reports that she feels like he listens to her and explains things clearly before he does them. I notice that he is not one of those adults that ignore children when other adults are in the room; he includes her in conversations in what I find to be a very age appropriate and respectful way. Started my son's braces about one and 1/2 years ago. Very happy with Dr. Hsu and all the staff. At first, I went to another orthodontist that my son's dentist recommended (near Cupertino Library area). 1st meeting was a rush, he barely answer a few questions & very little explanation on treatment. If I wanted more info, I had to pay for x-ray first and pay another $200 consultation fee before he would explain anything to me. Not impressive at all. So, I searched Yelp and found Dr. Hsu and he's close to my area. I got detail explanation at the very first "free" consultation. He took his time, not pushy, and also offered a decent payment plan. Over the last 18 months of treatment, he's always pleasant, well-manner, addressed my son directly, put him at ease, and explained everything in details. One time, my son needed adjustment due to discomfort but the office was closed for a couple days (I think it was holidays or something). After a phone call, Dr. Hsu personally open the office just to fix my son's braces to ease his discomfort. I was very appreciative. It showed that he really care about his patients a lot. My daughter (9 years old) has been with Dr. Hsu for over a year and I am VERY happy with him. I actually compared 4 orthodontists before my daughter started a treatment. It was very clear from the initial consultation that he is the one. He took time and explained everything in detail and clearly. After the treatment started, I knew that I selected the right person. He is very professional, gentleman, does a great job and the most thing I like is he explains things to my kid. Of course he explains to me as well but I think it's very important kids know what is happening since the treatment needs cooperation from kids (like wearing head gear at night). My daughter's teeth are beautiful now! One instance when my husband called with some questions (very late like 5pm or so), he called him back the same day after his busy schedule and talked with him for quite a while so that all his questions are answered. My husband was very impressed that Dr.Hsu really cares about the patients. I have been recommending him whenever a chance arises and everybody is very happy with him. His office is very nice too. My kids love the mini-theater style seats to watch movies (my younger one never complains during the wait time). It is very clean and never overcrowded.
