This practice is a huge step above! They are experts at what they do-from Dr. Kevin Shimizu to the dental assistants and front desk staff. All are extremely communicative, pleasant, friendly and professional. I knew I would get straightened teeth, but they also strive to provide excellent customer service and surpassed all of my expectations on this. read more

I was referred to them by my periodontist for Invisalign. I had braces as a teen, but now in my 60s, my teeth had shifted to be angled and crowded which made cleaning difficult were causing other dental problems. I was hesitant to start a year plus procedure with a big up-front payment, but they were very clear and thorough in explaining the process and I felt like I would be in good hands with them. I completed the process a couple months ago and am very glad I did. All the staff are very friendly and supportive, the office admin procedures are all very organized and they made the whole process a very positive experience. I definitely recommend them. read more

This office values their time more than yours! We had occasions when us the customers had to revisit for the same service appointments twice, but for once when we were late by just 12min they had us cancel our appointment on our way to their office while we were stuck in the traffic. There were numerous occasions when us the customers had waited more than 15min for the doctor to take his time to show up to attend us at the chairs. Thought this office is very customer friendly, apparently a disappointing one In the end! read more

I started out with Dr. Walters and Dr. Tacy in 1983. Dr. Walters was bought out by Dr. Ken Shimizu. I had to get braces a second time during eleventh grade because I had lockjaw. I remember Dr. Ken Shimizu saying he graduated from UC Berkeley as an engineering major but switched to orthodontics. During high school, every student from Fremont, Homestead, Wilcox, and Santa Clara high schools came to Dr. Tacy and Shimizu as it was the only reputable orthodontics practice. You could see every students' before and after Polaroid pictures in their albums in the lobby. My classmate from elementary school, Pamela K., worked the front desk for years. In 1997, my bottom retainer snapped and broke, and Dr. Ken Shimizu told me to stop wearing my retainers. He didn't make a new bottom retainer for me because he said I didn't need it. Wrong! I had to get braces a third time on only my bottom teeth last year because during your 30s, 40s, and 50s, your bottom teeth will shift. My top teeth looked great because I wore the same metal retainer since 1990. My youngest brother was given the same wrong advice by Dr. Ken Shimizu during the aughts, and his bottom teeth also shifted. He had to get orthodontics a second time four years ago. Because my youngest brother and I weren't happy with the bad advice from Dr. Ken Shimizu, I got braces from an orthodontist in Texas while my youngest brother got invisalign from another orthodontist in the Bay Area. Don't listen to Dr. Ken Shimizu when he tells you to stop wearing your retainer! It's bad advice and you'll end up spending a lot of money again! read more

Long overdue review for our favorite orthodontist office! We've been going to Dr. Shimizu for many years, starting with our daughter (now in college) and next with her younger brother. We started with Dr. Ken who is amazing - love talking to him as it's like chatting with your favorite uncle! Then when his son Dr. Kevin joined the practice, we were a little nervous but those fears were quickly put to rest as Dr. Kevin is equally skillful and easy to talk with! The practice is very modern and clean, and the entire office staff is top notch, so friendly and genuinely nice and helpful. They also have lots of goodies to make it fun to come to the office, from treats like ice cream in the summer for the kids, or the coffee bar for adults, and of course a visit to the annual free summer picnic at Saratoga Springs! They also have occasional drawings like the bike drawing, where you earn raffle tickets for having clean teeth! We did Invisalign with our daughter and traditional braces with our son and both were great. Highly recommend! We've referred a number of friends here as well! read more

I received my braces here 14 years ago and continue to receive compliments on my smile all the time. After consulting with 6+ orthodontists, we chose Dr. Shimizu for their welcoming atmosphere, comprehensive treatment plan, clean office, and professional integrity. Dr. Shimizu and his staff consistently demonstrate exceptional patience and warmth. During every visit, Dr. Shimizu was engaging and thorough in his care. Recently, I returned for new retainers after 14 years of wear, and I'm pleased to see they maintain the same high standards of quality and service. The practice has grown, and Dr. Shimizu's son (whom I remember him chatting about studying to be an ortho during my treatment back then) now is working at the office and is providing the same excellent care - a huge testament to their enduring commitment to quality and service. I highly recommend Shimizu Orthodontics. I really hope their practice continues so that I can bring my future children. Your search for an orthodontist ends here! read more

As an update, our son (now 17) just finished with Invisalign. It took about 9 months. My original review is just as true today as it was almost a decade ago. We continue to be delighted with both Dr. Kenneth Shimizu -- and now his son Dr. Kevin Shimizu -- and had a wonderful experience with this exceptional practice! read more

We had a great experience with Dr. Kevin and the entire team. From start to finish, everything was organized, smooth, and professional. The office runs very efficiently, and the team is always welcoming and helpful. My daughter completed her orthodontic treatment last year, and we are very happy with the results. We switched to the Shimizu team in the middle of her treatment from another orthodontist, and it was absolutely worth it. Gabriella, Susi, Brittany, and the entire team were all very kind. We truly appreciate the quality of care and the overall experience. Highly recommend this practice. read more

Not only are the doctors/staff welcoming but meticulous and very professional. Braces/jaw surgery is no fun but this team truly made the best out of it. Every question/concern along the process Dr. Shimizu kindly always got back to me with an answer or solution. Looking for top quality care go here! Have been a client with both my kids. This place feels like an extended family with caring professionals. It's also clean, great vibes and looks and they even have raffles for teens who are under their care. Both Dr. Shimizu's (Father and son) are super nice, funny and welcoming. Definitely recommend to anyone. read more

I've been a patient at Shimizu Orthodontics for about a year, using their Invisalign service. For the first nine months, I was diligent about wearing my aligners for the full 22 hours a day, and by that point my teeth were already about 99% corrected. Over the final three months, I'll admit I wasn't as consistent - mostly nights only - but the end result was still fantastic. Both my top and bottom teeth are beautifully aligned, and I couldn't be happier. Beyond the treatment itself, the staff is wonderful - always welcoming you with warm greetings and genuine smiles. Highly recommend! read more

Great care for my daughter for her Invisalign! They were patient, professional, and detailed.

I just finished my treatment at Shimizu and I'm so impressed. The office operations is streamlined and efficient. I had a consultation at another orthodontist and they had estimated that my treatment would take 2 years of invisialign or 1 year of regular braces. I finished Invisalign treatment at Shimizu within 2.5 months as estimated by Dr. Shimizu. Not only that, they worked w my insurance to make sure I had the best coverage (the other ortho quoted me for 5x the cost and said my insurance wouldn't cover it). For some context, my case was considered a "touch up" since I had braces before as a child (I had stopped wearing retainers about 10 years ago and my bottom teeth shifted). read more

Exceptional Care and Results -- A Truly Magical Experience :) Shimizu Orthodontics has been absolutely fantastic in treating my daughters, Zola and Lea. From start to finish, everything felt like a fairy tale--only this one came true with real results! The team was incredibly thoughtful in monitoring my daughters' development, selecting the perfect time to begin treatment. The plan they created was not only comprehensive and well-structured, but so precise it stayed punctual to the day! We were also offered a variety of financial options, which made the process flexible and manageable. Appointments were always efficient, well-organized, and incredibly informative. Every step was explained in a clear and reassuring way--even the girls felt confident and in control of their progress. The positive reinforcement and motivational tools they used helped keep them on track, and within less than a year, both girls achieved beautiful results and perfectly aligned smiles! As a parent, I'm beyond grateful--and truthfully, a little envious! I wish such orthodontic care had been available when I was younger. But I suppose even a bionic woman can't have it all. :) Deep thanks to the entire to Ken, Kevin, and the entire team at Shimizu Orthodontics--you've made a lasting difference for our family! read more

The facilities at Shimizu are quite impressive and it is a fairly big practice. The parking is never too difficult and the staff are very friendly. The fact that they have some treats, including some ice cream sandwiches is a very big bonus. The quality of care and patience is also very nice. read more

A friendly environment with kind staff and of course the best choice for pediatric orthodontics.

Dr. Shimizu was my orthodontist about 10 years ago. After accepting that my teeth had shifted due to not wearing my retainers regularly, I knew that I wanted to return to Shimizu Orthodontics. Dr. Shimizu and his team are compassionate and professional; more than that, they treat you like family. Dr. Shimizu took the time to chat with me when he had the time, showing an interest in my life beyond just my teeth. I would recommend highly Shimizu Orthodontics to anyone. read more

Dr Shimizu and his son are one of the best orthodontists in the area. I know because my friend is an oral surgeon in the area and he won't name the bad ones but told me that we'd be in good hands here. Funny thing is, my husband came here to get Invisalign before we got married and now my 11 year old has also received treatment at this office. Both Dr Shimizu and his son have great personalities that make going to the office a nice experience. The staff is always so nice. When we have had urgent needs, we've been able to be scheduled right away. You will receive the best work and honest treatment with Dr Shimizu and Dr. Kevin. read more

What a difference 10 months of Invisalign makes! So happy for my new and beautiful smile. Thank you everyone at Shimizu Orthodontics!

Following in his father's footsteps, my son is a second generation Shimizu patient and we plan to return with our younger son when the time comes. From the moment you walk through the office door, you are greeted with a warm and inviting staff. Complimentary coffee and treats are offered while you wait (although service has always been prompt.) Dr. Shimizu is attentive, gentle, meticulous, patient and friendly. He treats my 8-year old son with the same respect he extends to my husband and I and ensures that my son understands the intricacies of his braces. We are only five month's into my son's orthodontic journey but we have already seen significant improvement to his teeth, even with a notoriously hard to fix upper gap. We highly recommend Shimizu's office to everyone! You won't be disappointed. read more

Dr Shimizu took care of my teeth starting 30 plus years ago. I always have straight and beautiful teeth. I needed new retainers, my old ones are still around after these many years and it is so great to see him and Dr Kevin, it felt like the old time. They have the new computer to take the picture of the teeth, fast. I got my new retainers, 2 sets! Continue to have great looking teeth! Their team is great, efficient and friendly. read more

The office is professional and modern. The entire staff is top notch. Another provider told me they could not accomplish one of the corrections I requested and when I went to Shimizu, they told me they could absolutely do that, and they certainly did!
