I went for an Invisalign consultation that I thought was complimentary, but ended up with a $498 bill for the office visit and scans. Apparently, the first visit is free and the second one comes with this charge, but they combined both into my "first" visit ‍. I also consulted with five other orthodontists, and all of them included scans at no extra cost. So when the staff at Rouleau took my scans, I assumed it was part of the complimentary visit. Tried explaining this to the staff but they would hear none of it. In the end, I chose a different orthodontist who offered a better price and didn't feel like a cash grab. read more

While I've been through multiple dental offices, the Rouleau Office was the smoothest experience I ever had from start to finish. Waiting times were quick unlike previous offices I've been at. Every part of my braces journey was explained well, leaving me confident in the orthodontist's skills. I had crowded teeth which would've required me to take out 4 premolars. However, the orthodontist provided me with an alternate plan too, where they would do IPR. I was originally set in stone with the first plan, but if I changed my mind, the orthodontist would gladly comply. I eventually chose the latter and had braces for only 18 months. Rouleau Orthodontics is a family-owned business (father-son duo - Dr. Bert & his son Dr. Aaron). I am a parent and writing this review on behalf of both my children. I was initially quite worried when it came to putting braces inside my children's mouth. Due to this, the braces treatment for both my children got delayed significantly. Then COVID started and it was further delayed by another 2 years. By early 2022, let's just say that the visuals of BOTH my children's teeth were quite overwhelming -- it looked like there was overcrowding beyond repair and their teeth were all over the insides of their mouth. I am very thankful and grateful to both Doctors for treating both my children's teeth and giving them their beautiful and amazing smiles. A very special shout-out to Dr Aaron for being so very patient, tolerant and answering every question of mine with detail. Stephanie and Priscilla were wonderful as front desk personnel, and for setting appointments. When we were planning the treatment for our first child in 2022, we went to at least 5-6 orthodontists in the Bay Area (including Dr. Bert R.) for their initial consultation. Each of these orthodontists had been highly recommended to us by acquaintances. Everyone except Dr Bert mentioned they need to remove 1-2 permanent teeth. Dr. Bert listened to my request of not removing any permanent teeth and was open to tweaking the treatment as-it-goes. A couple months later for our second child, he again listened to my apprehensions of not having to remove permanent teeth or putting jaw expanders, tweaking the treatment during its course accordingly. I am thankful that they involved a parent's (my) opinion and agreed to do it in a conservative manner, instead of the more common (yet excessive) ways. Their treatments were supposed to last for 18 months but lasted for 24 months (due to both cases being quite complicated) but they didn't charge us anything extra at all. In fact, Dr. Aaron was always available for emergency help via text as needed. At the end of their treatments, the smiles of both my children and teeth have become beautiful & transformed completely without having to lose any permanent teeth. A big 100/100 to Dr Aaron & Dr. Bert and their office. Highly recommend for anyone seeking out orthodontics treatment. REVIEW FROM MY FIRST CHILD: I got my orthodontics treatment relatively late, at an age where most teeth are firm in place and crowding is considered hard to correct. I consulted a few different options where orthodontists recommended surgery for my case, which I was not comfortable with. However, thanks to an awesome, conservative 2-year treatment plan with Rouleau Orthodontics, my teeth were corrected. My orthodontist Dr. Aaron Rouleau was quite professional--he was dexterous when adapting my treatment every month. Additionally, he was patient in explaining the nuances of each monthly treatment, explaining concepts in simple terms. Furthermore, he was friendly in answering questions and setting me at ease. For me, the most important part was his flexibility--he altered my treatment to make it more conservative when I expressed concerns about surgery or expanders due to my low pain tolerance. My teeth were extremely crowded; and since I was already 15 years old, I didn't have the flexibility that younger children did. Most orthodontists recommended that I remove a permanent tooth and get permanent jaw expanders. However, Rouleau Orthodontics were receptive to our concerns about these permanent options. Unclear how effective the brace treatment would be, we started my braces with Rouleau as they agreed to doing it in a holistic way. I am going to keep this simple and to the point. I took my older daughter to Rouleau Orthodontics 3 years ago for an Invisalign treatment. I am now starting my younger daughter for the same so that is a statement on its own. What I really respect about this practice is that they met or exceeded my expectation without any interference on my part. I paid for a service and I got what was promised to me. The result speaks for itself as my old daughter is happy with her smile, and my younger daughter is looking forward to the same. As I was shopping around for orthordontics, i decided to book Rouleau Orthodontics for an Invisalign consultation after finding them on the Invisalign website. When I initially called, they were booking consultations about 3 weeks out. I decided to call one day to see if they had had any cancellations, and they were able to get me in the next day! On the day of my initial consultation, I was quickly seen and pictures were taken. I then met with Dr. Bert Rouleau. Right away, I got the impression that Dr. Rouleau was very knowledgable about the process and took the time to listen and answer every question I had concerning what my treatment. He was very personable, and seemed interested in wanting to perfect my teeth. Another great point is that Dr. Rouleau seemed more conservative about what my treatment would look like before we started with the scans. Other orthodontist wanted to perform IPR right away before any scans were done, but Dr. Rouleau first wanted to view my scan before determining if IPR would indeed need to be performed. I was relieved to hear that he first wanted to do some research before jumping in and filing down my tooth! Rouleau Orthodontics was the third place I went to for an Invisalign consultation, and I decided this was the place I wanted to get treatment from. Even though this was not the cheapest orthodontist I saw and his office a little farther than the other two orthodontist offices, I got a great vibe from Dr. Rouleau and his team. Both of my boys have had orthodontic work done by Rouleau Orthodontics. They both had upper expanders in elementary school and then needed additional treatment in their teens (not blessed with good bite genetics, unfortunately). My older son had treatment by Dr Bert for an especially narrow upper palate and underbite. He finished treatment a few years ago, and now has normal bite and an absolutely gorgeous smile. My younger son had a more complicated situation with a missing incisor - requiring a decision about an implant vs. a canine substitution approach. Dr Aaron spent a lot of time with us in person and over zoom to make sure we were fully informed of the options and pros/cons of each. He was patient and accommodating with all of our questions along the way. He worked in lock-step with our cosmetic dentist (Dr Miller) to ensure that they could optimize cosmetic results, while prioritizing bite functionality. My son recently finished up treatment - and his stunning smile exceeded all of our expectations. The office staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. The dental assistants are highly skilled and great with children of all ages. The quality of care has been outstanding. I went to Dr Rouleau a long time ago. We began our journey with braces on my 4 front teeth and head gear and would have eventually moved to full braces in phase 2. He took the 4 braces off and gave me a retainer. The retainer would fall out of my mouth every...single...night. So I kept going in to fix it. Whenever I would go in on my visits, I was by myself and eventually Dr Rouleau figured out I was independent, in other words, my family wasn't available to come with me. We paid Dr Rouleau all the money he wanted, but the deal was that they would check my retainer. So when I went in for the 100th time for my retainer I said "this keeps falling out, can you please help make it stop?" I didn't yell or anything, but when Dr Rouleau came to see me he chewed me out for being "loud and obnoxious". I was SHOCKED, because I didn't remember being rude, but more fed up? After all I had been going in multiple times for something that shouldn't be happening at all. Now that I think back on it, I realized we didn't have any more payment for him. My parents weren't around. He could've easily came and done what he did to me. So parents, don't let your kids go alone to this doctor's office. Be their guardian. I never told my parents what happened because it was one of those things where adult comes at you and you keep it to yourself. But now that I'm an adult, I notice how much he was in the wrong. read more

I took my tween son to get evaluated as he had adult teeth that were not coming in. Dr. Rouleau (Bert) met with us and spent a ton of time talking about the situation and potential responses. The best one, he explained, would be for my son to wiggle his baby teeth out as much as possible to make space and hope that the adult teeth would come in naturally and quickly thereafter. That is what my son diligently did, and we avoided very invasive and expensive treatment. We then went back and saw Dr. Rouleau (Jr) to assess whether my son would need braces. Dr. Rouleau again spent a ton of time with us, explaining that braces were totally optional, with no pressure to undergo treatment. At all. I wanted to share this experience as I think a lot of orthodontists would have given us a hard sell to fix the imperfections in my son's teeth. He has opted to skip braces for now, but should he change his mind once he starts dating (ha), we will definitely go back to Dr's Rouleau! read more

I had a bit of an orthodontic emergency because my lingual orthodontic wire (which had been glued to the back of my bottom front teeth for over 25 years) fell off a few days ago. I was eventually referred to Rouleau Orthodontics and was able to make an appointment within the same week. I just came back from my visit and it was a great experience. The entire staff is extremely friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Dr. Joy did a fantastic job putting my wire back into place; I could tell she was taking great care with the procedure and she clearly communicated what she was doing. I also appreciated she took the time to explain various options to me and gave me recommendations for what to do if the wire falls off again. We consulted with 3 orthodontists before coming to Dr. Rouleau for my 10 year old girl. She has very small mouth and lost her baby teeth early, so there was severe overcrowding by 10. While other doctors recommended extraction of adult teeth, we came to Dr. Rouleau on a friend's recommendation, and we are glad we did. We started with expanders and then braces over two year program. Dr. Bert and Dr. Aaron were professional, very good with kids (and anxious parents), and very open and communicative throughout the process. Keep in mind that you are going to see A LOT of your orthodontist through your or child's' procedures. While Roleau Orthodontics was not the closest, commute-wise, it was the best choice for our family. We will not go anywhere else for our two younger children, and hope Dr. Bert does not retire in next 4-6 years! However, his son, Dr. Aaron will be around for a long time! read more

I opted to get braces as an adult after wisdom tooth extraction left me with less than optimal bite and alignment. My first visit to Dr. Rouleau's office was 12 years ago. I would have given it a 5 star review then and now it's even better! I was 11 when I got my braces on and every step of the process was always done efficiently and with such care. I occasionally go in to get my retainers tightened (I've had them for 11 years -- they get a little loose) and to this day, Dr. Rouleau and his team are incredibly sweet and never waste your time. I've never had to sit in the waiting room or awkward dentist-style chair for unreasonable amounts of time. Over the years the office has become more high-tech which makes making appointments and checking in super easy. Overall, this is a fantastic place for your ortho needs, which is important if you're going to spend your life savings on braces in the first place ;) read more

I just got my braces off after just over a year (a month added because I was not diligent wearing some rubber bands...) and my teeth look great! My family started with Dr Rouleau when my kids were in elementary school (yikes, that was about 14 years ago!): two kids, a butterfly expander and set of braces each - they were done with their braces when in middle school and (luckily), their teeth still look beautiful and straight. Through the years, I've found Dr Rouleau (and now his son has joined the practice!) to be friendly and professional. His staff is also wonderful! They have updated their office so I didn't have to go to a separate business to get panorex shots and x-rays done. They have been very accommodating with appointment times. Office waits are minimal or non-existent. I had to pay for this orthodontic work out-of-pocket and I appreciated that they were very straightforward about the costs, and they were able to charge me monthly (automatically charged to my credit card) which worked well for me. Also, my retainers look like invisalign, so they included whitening gel for me to try after the braces came off! I highly recommend Dr. Rouleau's office for orthodontic work! read more

I went to Dr. Roleau for three years and am completely dissatisfied with the results. He had me unnecessarily extract teeth and from various second opinions, moved some of my teeth in the wrong place. When I tried calling to tell them about the mishaps that came from his treatment, I was told I would be charged $50 just to be looked at. Now I have to get implants done which will cost upwards of $10K. Completely ridiculous. Beware of the treatment suggestions without getting a second opinion!!!! read more

I don't often like to review service providers unless the experience was exceptional or just down right terrible. Luckily, in this case, it's the former. We have had an EXCEPTIONAL experience with Dr. Bert Rouleau (dad) and Dr. Aaron Rouleau (son). We first began our treatment with the dad and were later moved to his son. I was leery of this change as we felt we were in such great hands with the dad. I am happy to say, we just ended our treatment and continued to see both and the final results are beautiful. My daughter has a gorgeous smile. Due to severe crowding at an early age, my daughter's treatment included a two-phase approach. This was the path of treatment we agreed upon in order to preserve all her teeth. Not one tooth was pulled. My daughter was in her braces for the exact amount of time they estimated. In fact, she was out of her second round a few weeks early. I would also like to mention the professional staff at the front desk...most notably, Pember. She has incredible patients and I am thankful for her keeping us on track when scheduling proved difficult. Never once did she show any attitude towards me and exemplified only the utmost professionalism and kindness. She's the best. I would highly recommend Dr. Dad, Dr. Son, and the entire Rouleau staff.
