It's not the most modern or the by new today standards cleaner. But it has the classic look I grew up with. The staff was nice and helpful. I met the owner before I he left for the night. I thought he was friendly and knowledgeable. The main reason I rated this so high was because of the back issues. There is a large amount of back issues and priced very well. I was able to find books that are hard to find except on the internet. If you are looking for a book that is hard to find try here first.

We were in town for a concert and to meet up with some friends and it happened to be "Free Comic Book Day" and we had time to kill, so we stopped at some local shops including the Deep at their new location. They had all the goodies for giveaways-- who can beat 3 free comics plus another 5 freebies if you make a purchase? The companies (Marvel, DC, and the indies) made a good show of rolling out freebies to give readers a sample of current offerings and hopefully they roped in some new readers. It was nice to see The Deep still has a swath of back issues, I was able to cross several titles off my never-ending search list as I poked around the store. They still have a wall of new releases, a ton of games and figures, etc. It was also very cool to see such a wide diversity of readership, people of all ages and backgrounds grabbing up new releases and picking up pull lists. Not sure if ownership has changed in the past decade or more or if it's more to do with the changing vibes of the subculture itself becoming more mainstream and accessible, but it just felt overall more "welcoming" and open than ever before so that anyone can find the book they're looking for and get into comics. Very cool. Plenty of parking. Appreciated the additional 20% off of purchases for the comic book day, and back issue prices are fair--more expensive than some, far cheaper than others.

I usually walk out with a stack of books to fill in the gaps especially when he runs his amazing sales. He even has a pretty good $1 bin of comics. I was blown away by their inventory and everything they had. From Star Wars, Marvel, DC, TMNT, GI Joe, Transformers, Horror Figures and so much more. Unfortunately I was short on time so I wasn't able to spend as much time browsing as I wanted. I didn't even get to go through their comics, but they did have several long boxes and what looked liked a pretty nice comic collection. It's nirvana for the nostalgic and middle-aged, and it's hard not to leave with *something* because there are a lot of great deals (and a lot of bank-breakers, too!). You'll leave with an armful of great stuff at a great price and the feeling that it will make perfect sense to drop $300 on a signed Kuiil action figure from "The Mandalorian," which I'll probably do someday. So much more to offer and they rotate stock (and or just sell it really quickly). If you're into comics, this store needs to be on your list of places to check out. Variants you will only be able to find online (maybe ebay) are displayed in a few different areas. Well worth a trip in to check them out. I just called since we had not heard from them and they said they finished the evaluation on 5/30 (day after we took the books in) and they said since we didn't respond they gave us store credit of $57.00 and the cash price would have been $27.00. There were books worth over $100 used and they were going to give us only .25 per book. This is a ripe off. It might be a good place to buy books but don't sell your books to them.
