One thing we noticed right away is how convenient and accessible the store is. There is plenty of parking, and they have both a front and back entrance, along with a handicap ramp. That may sound like a small detail to some people, but for someone using a wheelchair or needing easier access, it makes a big difference. The aisles are also wide enough for a wheelchair, which is not always the case in small specialty stores. The service is prompt, friendly, and genuinely kind. The employees are wonderfully nice and helpful without making you feel rushed. My brother enjoyed looking around, taking his time, and selecting what he wanted to buy. That kind of patient, friendly atmosphere means a lot. The store has an amazing assortment of hobby items. They carry model railroading supplies, model airplanes, model cars, military miniatures, radio-controlled vehicles, helicopters, cars, and many other hobby and collectible items. It is the kind of store where you can go in for one thing and still enjoy walking around just to see everything they have. Homewood Toy and Hobby also has the feel of a place that has earned loyal repeat customers over the years. That says something good about both the store and the people who run it. I found their website in a Google search because I was looking for a signed addition of Bryan Stephenson's Just Mercy. I couldn't believe my luck when the signed edition was the same price as any other unsigned copy. I had stumbled upon a treasure trove of fantastic books all signed by their authors selling for the standard list price. Of course they have some extra special books that are collectors items and a bit more expensive. Those are featured on a different part of their website. Today I opened my signed copy of Jon Meacham's "And There Was Light". It's the perfect gift for book reading friends. One day I plan to make a pilgrimage to the store and actually shop in person. This is a clean, easy to walk through record store with friendly staff. There are two listening stations complete with headphones and great quality turntables. There are sections for used vinyls including most genres in 12's and 45's, CDs, a photo booth, and comfortable seating to listen to live sessions or as you wait for someone to complete their record adventure journey.
