Do Not Buy Here: Sold Me a Lemon, Refused Accountability, and Gaslit Me Years Later
**I am intentionally rating this 2 stars because I know many people skip over 1-star reviews assuming they are just emotional rants. Please read this before doing business with Wolfchase Hyundai of Bartlett. If zero stars were an option, that is what they truly deserve.
I am writing this review after years of frustration, broken promises, and abysmal customer service from Wolfchase Hyundai of Bartlett.
A couple of years ago, I purchased a 2019 Chevy Equinox from them. Sales staff assured me it was a "great deal," and one employee even claimed he would have bought it himself if I hadn't. Less than 12 hours after driving off the lot, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and the engine died in the middle of the road.
When I brought it back, they initially tried to charge me over $1,000 for repairs on a car I had owned for half a day. After I threatened to return the vehicle, they "re-inspected" it and claimed it was just a $50 gasket. I paid for it just to get out of a rental, which was a massive mistake. The exact same issue continued for the next year. I contacted them repeatedly, but all they ever did was clear the error codes from the car's computer without actually fixing the underlying problem. This is a problem that will cost me over $2,000 in labor alone to resolve. This was not disclosed at purchase.
Fast forward to recently: Wolfchase Hyundai began relentlessly texting and emailing me, begging to buy the car back. After they canceled on me (twice) forcing me to take time off work and drive 30 minutes each way--I finally got the car in for an evaluation.
After making me wait on the showroom floor for two full hours, an evaluator politely told me that they "would never sell a car in this condition off the lot." In the time I owned it, I had only added 16,000 miles, added no cosmetic damage, kept it clean and in great condition, and even installed a brand-new AC condenser.
When I reminded them that I bought the car from them in basically this exact condition (acknowledging the mileage discrepancy), they essentially called me a liar. I walked back in to speak with a floor manager. Instead of taking ownership, he hid behind the excuse of "new management" and "growing pains," offered zero apology, and condescended to walk outside just to repeat that they would never buy or sell a car like mine. The kicker is that the same guy who said "I would have bought the car myself" was the same guy who inspected my car initially.
They sold me a defective vehicle, swept the repairs under the rug, wasted my time years later, and then gaslit me when confronted with their own history.
To top it off, after this insult of a visit, I explicitly asked them to not contact me anymore and warned them that I would post this review if they contacted me again. Sure enough, they texted me again today asking to buy the car.
