Having really no in depth experience on how to maintain a healthy lawn I was really anxious as the winter chill left and spring began to green everything up. I had arrangements with another company but they flaked...absolutely flaked, so I reached out to Brandon more or less in panic mode as I did want my yard to get past the point of help as summer approached. Brandon responded to my inquiry on the same day as I made it and we agreed to a visit within a couple of days. He showed up on time, couldn't haver been nicer and most importantly for me... he was so patient with me and answered all my questions and concerns. Later that evening he sent me a thorough proposal with fair and reasonable pricing. I approved the estimate and within a few days Brandon was out in the yard doing a ton of weeding, mowing, feeding and trimming. Everything was to be completed within approx. 3 days. The job was to remove walls around our stairs, and replace with new base, railing etc. Payment 1 of 3 was made at start of project. At every turn there was another delay and more excuses. There were many "issues" with his family that he claimed to have to deal with. Donald left several times daily for extended periods to "get tools or materials." He never came prepared to work, and the timeline was surpassed. Demo was done, but trash was not removed until our parting of ways. Our HOA was not happy. We also had neighbors asking why Donald and his partner were just sitting in our yard for hours at a time. That's just odd. Step 2 in the process; Payment 2 of 3 was given, and the project went downhill fast. Donald is clearly not versed in this type of work. Without my knowledge or permission he tried to repurpose wood that was torn out. When new material was purchased, it turned into a hack job. I now have no enclosure around my staircase, and out money to pay someone else to do the job. It was decided Donald would not be able to finish the job, a full refund of payment 2 was agreed upon. I am not able to collect the refund. One, the check was written with the wrong amount, and two there are not sufficient funds to cash the check anyway. Like many others, I found out the hard way, and it was too late. Don't make the same mistake.

In general, I'm always willing to give a small business a second chance to redeem themselves, but if they don't recognize it as an opportunity to earn your business and your respect as a consumer, there's not much more you can do. In closing: "A second chance doesn't mean you're in the clear. In many ways, it is the more difficult thing. Because a second chance means that you have to try harder."
