I wouldn't recommend their services to anyone, and I'd advise others to check for reviews first (which I neglected to do). They didn't have any before, but they will now.

A Stellar Experience with Evergreen Ecoscape and Design, Colorado Springs…read more Hey, we all know that Life is complicated enough, so it's always nice to call on really hardworking professionals to lighten your burden and workload a bit. With that in mind, I was extremely impressed with Evergreen Ecoscape and Design. They helped us with a couple of landscape projects for our house in North Colorado Springs (Northgate area), and their services have been nothing short of exceptional. Our first project involved removing some sod in the front yard and replacing it with landscape rocks. This project not only enhanced the aesthetics of our yard but also promised to reduce water usage during the growing season and minimize the effort required for lawn maintenance (mowing, aeration). Evergreen, starting with Wesley, did a fantastic job of listening to our needs. Wesley came up with a proposal that met or exceeded all our expectations. They ordered the rock, installed the contractor-grade weed cloth, and hauled away the debris, making the entire process smooth and efficient. One thing to keep in mind is that many Colorado Springs landscape companies do not work in the winter. Evergreen is a notable exception. They worked around the weather and snow to ensure that the work was done professionally and not that busy winter time. Their commitment to their work is evident in their ability to adapt to challenging conditions without compromising quality. The second project involved building a dry creek bed, or arroyo, in the backyard. This project was designed to help with flood mitigation during summer storms. Tyler and Luke were phenomenal in executing this relatively complex project. As with most projects, we encountered some snags, but Tyler was able to adjust the plan to ensure that the water flowed correctly and made sure that the water gutters from the roofs had an unobstructed path to lower ground. Very important for the torrential down pours we sometime get in the Summer. I was very impressed with Evergreen's professionalism, communication, hard work, and ability to improvise to ensure that the project deliverables were met. They assured me that they would stay until the job was done right and correct, which they did. Evergreen Ecoscape and Design is an awesome company to work with, which explains their high customer satisfaction ratings. They excel in value, cost, efficiency, and professionalism. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking to enhance their outdoor space. A+++ in terms of value and service. Anyway, we (my wife and I) found a landscaping company that treated us like appreciated customers, not like we owed them our business. If the same effort that went into the public retaliatory response to my first review had been directed toward quality customer engagement, they might have had a happy customer and a great review instead. Calling out red flags when we see them is important so we can all continue to rely on Yelp for honest and trustworthy reviews.

When getting quotes, I found communication with other companies frustrating and off-putting. One company didn't respond when they advised they would, another seemed very rigid and inflexible. Steve (owner of This & That) was very personable, answered his calls when able, and responded in a timely manner. We received our landscape quote the day after he reviewed our yard. Before we committed to This & That, Steve came out again to discuss changes. Once we signed our agreement with him, Steve continued to be available to receive our calls, texts, and emails and was flexible with design changes. Steve was also very knowledgeable, straightforward, honest, and sincere in his communication. We showed Steve pictures of trees that we liked and he advised that he could get these trees, but also advised that the picture did not reflect how it looks in Colorado. We told him about our HOA requirements, and he explained and put us at ease regarding how he would meet them. Installation was also a great experience. Steve started on Tuesday, said they would wrap up on Monday. They finished early Friday, a full business day early. They absolutely overdelivered and surpassed our expectations. We were also able to make some minor deviations as they worked (made a play area for the kids larger, plant placement, adding additional rock, etc.) Also, while Steve wasn't onsite the entire time, he WAS onsite every day and for most of everyday. The biggest downfall of designing remotely is not having a contractor to refer to our remote design clients because as I'm sure you can imagine, things don't usually go to plan and corners get cut. High end custom outdoor living construction is expensive, it takes a while and it's stressful but if the communication between all parties is on point, the project is a breeze. We're happy to have aligned ourselves with Aspenwood. Our other projects in the area have been train wrecks due to contractors promising things they cannot deliver, overbooking themselves and most importantly horrible communication. Based on the reviews, plus info I read on their website, I assumed Rock 'N Block would be out of our price range. I made appointments for both them and a few other competitors to come out and provide estimates. Austin came out and gave his pitch. Although, I'll say, it wasn't really a pitch like what I expected from a used car salesman. It was more what you'd hope, as someone like me who doesn't know much about turf other than the little I had read, to get from the experience. Austin answered my questions. He further educated me. He gave me other things to think about...and things I hadn't thought of...to ask the competitors. Yes, he measured and did the other things you'd expect as well. Before leaving, he gave me the price on the spot, and I was shocked at what it was. While I still wanted to talk to others, just for the comparison, I was pretty sure Rock 'N Block was who I wanted to do business with. In my discussions on the neighborhood Facebook site, I met another former customer who invited us to come see their yard, which was many times larger than ours. They raved about every aspect of Rock 'N Block, from the top down. From sales, through installation. Their yard, which has the same natural turf we were looking at, was gorgeous. Within a week, we had confirmed what we thought a week earlier. Yes, price was important, but it was also the quality of the turf, what we thought would be best for our dog, and what we thought would be best for us. Add in the reputation and support of the company, and it was easy for us. Originally, installation was supposed to take place today, but with heavy rain forecast, they pivoted on Monday and did the installation yesterday. The crew showed up on time and, after a brief chat with me, they went about their work. Mario, the project manager who came out last week for another measure and to make sure he had his sketch and the order correct, was the first one onsite yesterday morning. I was told it'd be a one-day job, and as it turns out, they were in and out in around five hours. Our backyard is gorgeous...maybe even better than what we had hoped. And our dog likes it too. The team was friendly, courteous, and definitely experts at their craft. While there was a big mess in both the front and back of the house when they started and during the day, by the time they were gone, you'd never know anyone was there. Everything was pristine, and we had a lush green backyard once again. Mario was originally coming back today for the final walkthrough and signoff. However, Travis, the owner of the company, was actually the one to come by. It's clear he cares about the customers he serves, and it's obvious his views on doing whatever he can to make sure every job is right is passed down to his team. I cannot recommend Rock 'N Block enough. This is the way a business should be run. If you're considering turf, you owe it to yourself to consider Rock 'N Block for the job.
