I also note that whilst there is a ramp leading into the restaurant, it is pretty steep and, I suspect, it is there to facilitate deliveries and not people. Come on Singapore House, lift your game! I will not return until I am sure these matters have been addressed.

The over eager staff are ready to take your plates the moment that your fork picks up he last noodle from the bowl. The decor is interesting, or unique you might say and this is what knocks them down a star or two.

Finally that opportunity arose. I was pretty much in it for the Pho, which is probably my favorite Vietnamese dish and I wanted to see where they ranked. They pretty much topped the town. There was a number of different options available, which for starters was welcome change. I almost regret now not being a bit more adventurous and ordering ordering one the more special pho's on offer, such as the combination which included tripe and meatballs. However, the fresh beef slice pho which I ordered was really too good to complain about. Served with a plate of fresh beenshoots, coriander, basil and a big bowl of fresh chili (which i might add was perfectly temperatured) the fragrant broth was delicious and the lightly cooked meat was juicy and tender. There was chili sauce on the table which I tried separate to the pho to see what it was like. It had that characteristic peanut taste that is present everywhere other than china town cafe and which I find a bit unpleasant. An oddity I noticed was the service of the cutlery of which I have uploaded a photo. Between the two of us we were presented with one western fork, one western spoon a set of chopsticks and an asian style soup spoon aesthetically arranged, but with no concordance as to which implement belonged to whom. Don't know whether this is some sort of cultural tradition or just an all bases covered approach, either way it was quite amusing.

It was the perfect weather for a steaming bowl of pho, it was blustery and chilly outside, but there is nothing like a bowl of soupy goodness to nurture the soul. The menu was quite varied with all sorts of entree, rice, noodles, mains and dessert dishes. I had already decided on what I wanted but would be keen to return again to try another dish. My friend ordered the spicy chicken and pork noodles and I had the combination pho. Be aware the portions here are HUGE! A small bowl is enough for the average dinner but the medium was more than enough! It was only $10 for a small but since it was only $1 extra to upgrade - I went the medium to see how much I could eat. The intoxicating scent in the restaurant was making me salivate so we ordered deep fried tofu to snack on while we waited. Service was fast and efficient, only moments after the tofu arrived, our mains was delivered before I could even take a bite of my tofu. Now I have a process before I dig into my pho, I scatter plenty of fresh Vietnamese basil, coriander and fresh chilli, a good handful of beansprouts, a squeeze of lemon and squeeze in a good dollop of hoisin sauce. I also have have an extra bit of hoisin sauce on the side to dip my beef in. And now the taste test, I take a sip of soup and almost wept tears of happiness when I inhaled my steaming hot bowl of combination. The broth past my taste test, a rich stock with perfect spices and seasoning to tickle my tastebuds, the meat was plentiful and thinly sliced, the portions were huge! They also have a selection of authentic desserts and malay drinks you would find on the streets of KL but struggle too in other restaurants in Adelaide. Good source of lightings from the downlights coupled with 3 decorative lamps combined to bring a nice relaxing ambience to the place. There are pictures of different types of chillies to bring home the point of 'spice' (as their name suggest). However, even though I said that the ambience is relaxing, when the crowd starts arriving, the place is noisy... like really noisy .. you will really need to talk a bit loudly than you normally would in order to get yourself heard. Today's crowd is comparably less crowded and it's still noisy. When you enter into the restaurant, they will bring you to a table as well as the menu. Choices galore on the menu on the front and back. Once you've decided what you wanted to eat, you can make your way to the counter and make your order. You would have to pay on the spot. The cashier on duty has good grasp of english and knowledgeable on their food on the menu. I've overheard her conversation with the customer before me where she explained the difference between the 'normal' laksa and the Sarawak laksa listed on their board. I made my orders shortly after. It was quick. The food though took awhile to arrive. Not enough chopped green chilli served together, one look and I can see 3 chopped pieces only.. I mean, what's the point then. :/ This is served with some bak choy and slice beef. They are all stirred fried together. The beef is chewy, but not too hard. Still ok. It's the sauce that I'm not really a fan of. It's fairly watery, resulting in a rather bland taste tonight. I would say that the portion is rather small also. Overall, I would say that the beef hor fun at Nanyang (if that place is still around, I haven't swing by for a while now.. haha) is way better. Overall, considering the good and meh. This is definitely a place I would still visit. First, it's down southern end from the city, which is nearer to where I live, plus the choices of south east asian food definitely means that I can try other food as well. I walked up to the front asked if our food was coming and the manager was very aggressive and rude and said "yes sit down" the service was horrible and i felt very uncomfortable. 10.20pm we all decided to leave after waiting over a hour for our mains to come out 1/10 Our group was shocked in the service and attitude of the place and will never be coming back again.
