It has been a very long time since we have gone to Wokcano over at the Westfield Town Center Mall. The last time we were there was for my daughters graduation and all I remember is that it was later in the evening, we were a big party of 2 families, and we were starving! About a week ago we went and tried out the place again but during lunch. The mall just recently survived its annual holiday rush and it was a ghost town over there. Because we were going there for lunch, I was happy to find out that the place is quieter during the day and I got to spend some quality conversation with my wife. As usual. I'm always starving by lunchtime and this is what we ordered. 2 Ice Teas (big lemon wedges) Monkey Brain - Tempura Avocado with Spicy Tuna & Crabmeat, Eel Sauce. This was spicier than the Volcano which I liked which I felt at the end of bite Volcano Roll - Shrimp Tempura with Eel Spicy Sauce, between the 2 sushi's we ordered, this was our favorite. "wife approved" Beef Chow Fun - Beef with Flat Rice Noodles & Bean Sprouts, this is our family favorite dish and important if we were to come back. It passed with tasteful colors, only next time we will ask to cook it well done so the noodles are really chewy! (that's how we like it). I am in search of the best chow fun in Santa Clarita. Lunch Special Mongolian Beef - Got this because I was thinking of my buddy DJ who always rants about my parents Mongolian Beef. Thought I would give this a try for him. Not sure he would like it because he is not a fan of spice and this one had a pretty good spice note. This one was a good dish. Lunch Special Garlic Noodles with Chicken - My wife loved this dish, she thought that the chicken was going to be diced into bits instead she got a good size breast which was seasoned very well and juicy. Good thing it was not diced, most likely would have been dried out. The noodles were a good and garlicy for my wife and she did not reek of it after lunch. (I would have asked for more garlic than!) hahaha... Overall I am very happy with this place. I don't go as often as I could but it is a nice treat once and a while. Recommend go during the week for lunch for a peaceful quiet lunch and then walk off your lunch by checking out the mall. Walking in seems like a great atmosphere the host was very welcoming we got offered to sit at the bar which we accepted, but took about 10 min for us to even get a hello watching servers walk and walk by us multiple times. No menus were provided after placing our drink order we waited another 6-7 minutes to finally get a menu. After receiving the food it looked very unsatisfying teriyaki chicken was 100% frozen the chicken was very cold and plate had running water on it. The only thing hot was the foil my roll was baked in. The menu also says plates come with rice and miso soup but got none of that after asking our waiter for it he said it's an additional charge. Sushi was not fresh at all paying 15+ for a roll that tasted like it was pre made and just sat in the back was not the business. Let's also not forget the food took about 30 minutes to come out. Well here we go....the food sucks. No way around this fact. We got some salmon sushi roll to that tasted so old and rotten I sent it back. Par-cooked BS Korean short-ribs slathered in some overly sweet sauce, super chewy, overly breaded calamari and some weird chicken double kung-pao with vegetables. Also some of the most overly SWEET drinks that I've ever tasted! We have once again found that the corporate restaurant culture is DEAD AND DONE!! I Food sucks period!! I go back in and she goes oh well this container doesn't look like it open that much and she just gave it back to me. I had to ask to have everything that had fallen out onto the ground remade. Absolutely loved our experience here!! The staff was super friendly & they were able to seat us right away on a Saturday for dinner! The portions are HUGE & I left stuffed! Started with chicken dumplings + calamari. I had the chow fun (so delicious), noodles were amazing!! A friend had the fried rice (which was really flavorful too) and the sushi is out of this world! I'm really confused as to how to review this restaurant. I generally don't lead with a customer service, because if the food's good it gets to overcome any problems with customer service. And don't get me wrong, the food is good. For tonight, tonight I ran into customer service issues that I just don't feel were appropriate. We have been customers at this location since they opened and I have been eating at Wokcano for longer, having worked in Santa Monica right near that location. I'm a longtime customer, so when I say I've ordered a certain dish several dozen times, trust that I know how it's supposed to taste. I have ordered Mongolian beef more times than I can count and I've never noticed it being a spicy dish. I've ordered it for my mother-in-law who can't eat spicy dishes and she's never noticed it being a spicy dish. However, tonight, it was spicy, it had visible flakes of red pepper and it was spicy. So I called and asked if it's a spicy dish and was told "oh yes, it's one of the spiciest dishes on our menu." I'll tell you, that really surprised me to hear that. I'm not exaggerating when I've said how many times I've had it and that has never ever been spicy for me. So when I questioned the person who answered the phone about it explaining to her that I've had it as many times as I have, she said in a very, very sarcastic voice, "it may not have been spicy for you, but it's a spicy dish."And while that may not Look rude on the page, trust me, her tone was thoroughly rude and I was shocked. I will continue to order meals from this restaurant because it's good... I will now make sure that when I order Mongolian beef that it is not spicy. Because while I love spicy food, that's not a dish that I think should be spicy. And I know what I sound like, I know I sound like a diva and I know I sound like I am chock-full of privilege, but I don't like being treated like that. And while I'm at it, since I am finding this a great time to complain, who doesn't take digital forms of payment? They take cash and credit card, and that's it... They don't take Apple Pay, they don't take any other form of contactless payment. Come on guys wake up get up get into the century. So they get their three stars and maybe someday I'll restore a star, but for now it is what it is and I'm sure they'll be just fine without an extra star. read more

Took grandma for her 89th birthday. We brought some balloons, flowers and also brought our own cake to bring a festive vibe. We ordered some drinks to start: girlfriend ordered dragons breath (super good), brother had a glass of beer & grandma had a glass of Pinot Grigio which was smooth and really good. I ordered the plum wine, sweet but tasty as expected. We ordered some fried crab Rangoons and some steamed potsticker dumplings. Kind of pricey for what you get ($2 each dumpling) but we were starving and needed to get something on the table while we waited for the other main dishes to be made. My girlfriend said they wouldn't hold the cake in the back of the fridge due to liability reasons so we just kept it on the side of our table. I asked the waitress to order the main dishes as she placed the appetizers on the table, so the kitchen could get started on them. The food took 30 minutes to come out. We ordered orange crispy tofu, black pepper beef, Shanghai lo mein, black pepper sole filet, seafood fried rice and blue crab hand rolls. It was all good, I'd order those again. Pricey nowadays, especially after the recent inflation. Waitress came to check up on us a couple times. She was attentive and listened. I so badly wanted to give this place 5 stars, but I just can't. Sigh. We went for dinner and were seated at a table at 6pm. It took almost 25 minutes before the waitress finally brought our drinks, and all we ordered was water. By this time, I noticed that people around us that sat after us, were already eating, but we hadn't even ordered yet. We finally ordered, but only my food came out. I was completely done with my rolls/sushi, and my husband's soup STILL hadn't come out. After asking twice, we finally got it. We just didn't understand what the holdup was for anything, when others around us were getting great service. The food was okay, but we won't be back. I will start with the good: the food was great as always. Now the bad: It was mostly the server Alek. We were ignored in the far corner. He had no server skills. We asked for several things that never showed up like refilled water. He would walk by other tables around us and completely skipped seeing if we needed anything. Anything that we asked for (forks and a refill) took an unbelievable amount of time. He finally dropped off the check and not only was it wrong, but apparently he then went on break. Who does that? Ordered: Love boat Mongolian beef Curry noodles Fried rice The place was not even busy but they had one waitress running around to 4 tables and I felt bad for her. They bring everything to the table at once. Soups, salads, sushi, hot dishes. There is no process in the order of how the food is served at all. The feeling of having to rush to go through soups and salads to get to your dish is a turn off and not an enjoyable dining experience. I mean if you're spending 200-250 plus tip of 20% minimum there is expectations as a customer. Just like the restaurant and serves have expectations of charging and getting tipped. I will avoid this place from now on because unfortunately it wasn't the first time this has happened and doesn't seem like it will change. read more

First time eating here. I ordered from Postmates. What a waste of money! They don't even pay attention to notes on special instructions. The Jasmine rice was hard! Tasted like boil in bag quality. The cucumber salad, was just some sauce tossed over cucumbers at the last minute and throw on some sesame seeds. Was not marinated at all, and wasn't spicy like the menu description says. The seaweed salad tasted like it came from Costco. Nothing spectacular. Veggie egg rolls were small, mushy inside and too expensive for only two. Don't waste your money here.
