This is my 3rd time here and the quality of fish has not gone down at all. Met up with one of my best friends and we've decided that this is going to be our go to spot whenever we meet up. We sat at the sushi bar up front instead of one of the tables. It wasn't too crowded when we got there around 7:30pm on a friday and it sounded like everyone was enjoying themselves as well as complimneting the food. They were also speaking with the chef's wife like they were regulars so it made it feel cozy and comfortable. We ordered several of our go to fish, mainly albacore, blue fin tuna, scallops, and some seared tuna. Everything was great and we kept ordering tea so much that they kept the tea kettle with us. I ordered the Ananto Special Dinner bowl for my wife to go but because it was for dine in only, chef asked if I wanted to get sashimi instead with a side of rice, which I agreed to. As he was slicing chutoro, he mentioned what it was and I told him that was my favorite cut. Not expecting anything, he gave us a slice and it was melt in your mouth goodness! My friend and I continued to catch up and one of the outgoing guests bought him a glass of beer. Being grateful for the chutoro, I decided to order hot sake and share it with him. I visited this place with my family for dinner over the weekend. When we parked in front, we noticed the restaurant was completely empty, which honestly made us hesitate to go in. However, since we were already there, we decided to give it a try. ​After getting seated, we ordered drinks and wrote down our sushi order on the paper provided. We also added a few appetizers and rolls. Even though there were no other customers, the food took quite a long time to come out. ​The most disappointing part was the service. Instead of placing the dishes on the table, the server just handed everything to me directly. I had to take every single plate and set it down on the table myself. I'm not sure if the server was untrained or just lazy, but my wife and I could only laugh at how absurd it was. ​To top it all off, the sushi we ordered at the very beginning never arrived, even after we had finished all our other food. 3/26/2026: Momma Kiki and I haven't been to Ananto in a while and missed it. This is Hubby's first visit and Michelle joined us, too! The restaurant is cute. Simple decor, and immaculate! You are greeted so graciously when walking in the door. We were a little surprised to find them so quiet at 6pm on a Wednesday. Why is everyone sleeping on this gem? For those who don't know, Momma Kiki is Osaka born and raised.. which makes me half Japanese but still full Asian food critic. lol The sushi served at Ananto is outstanding! Some of the best I've had in Santa Clarita. I still love our OG "Light & Healthy" in Newhall (THE best AYCE!) but Ananto has special and unique offerings like sweet shrimp. We aren't light eaters by any means, but their 7pc set which comes with soup and a salad paired with a shared cut roll makes a decent meal! Our table thoroughly enjoyed our 7pc Sushi sets and the 9pc Sashimi set. The mild shirt miso soup paired with their green salad and house made wafu dressing is outstanding! The chef/owner makes all dressings and sauces fresh in house, and you can tell. There is care taken with rice and fish temperatures to optimize flavors, some are lightly brushed with what tastes like fresh yuzu.. the Spicy Tuna Roll doesn't have sriracha in it (thank goodness!).. they use chili oil, as it should be. This review is long overdue. My partner and I have been coming to Ananto ever since they opened in June 2024. It is a small, family owned business and our favorite local hidden gem. Every time we visit, it feels like we are visiting family. They quickly learned our order, and before we can even sit down they are on their way to get our Sapporos, miso soups and salads (which come with the sets). Our favorites to order are: Toro, Sweet Shrimp, Salmon Belly, Yellowtail Belly, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Squid Legs, and the 7 pc sushi set! What stands out the most about Ananto is the quality of the fish. I would even venture to say the quality of fish is better here, than some places I've had in Hawaii. Another thing I really enjoy about Ananto is, I can confidently say that the consistency has remained the same since day one. While the pricing may seem a bit steep at first, I do feel that it matches the quality of the food and the level of service that is provided, which is why we keep coming back. Overall, it's pretty clear this is my favorite sushi restaurant, and I'm super glad to have them so close to home! read more

I'll start by saying I'm a picky sushi eater. I resisted eating sushi for the longest time, until I had some in Japan and realized, like one of those light-bulb moments, "Ah ha! THIS is why people love sushi!" Unfortunately, most sushi in the US doesn't compare at all to that in Japan. And even in Japan, I am picky and have had plenty of sushi there that's just "meh." So I was hopeful, but trying not to get my expectations too high, trying Ananto sushi for the first time. I came here with a friend and I ordered four pairs of sushi, plus edamame and a cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was a generous serving, as was the edamame. The sushi consisted of relatively small slices of fish, on very tiny mounds of rice. That said, the fish was AMAZING and the rice was delicious. In fact, I loved the sushi so much I ordered a second round, with all the same fish. I tried black snapper, halibut, yellowtail and kinmedai. I loved every piece. The fish was fresh, extremely tender, and a silky soft texture. Light, fine flavor. Each piece had a little wasabi between the rice and the fish, though you can ask for it without wasabi as well. Some of the fish had a little additional seasoning and the flavors all went together perfectly! The restaurant is located in a strip mall and it's small inside. Table seating, plus seating at the sushi bar. Limited choice of sodas (Coke, diet Coke, Sprite), but they have hot tea, and they have alcoholic options as well. It's a pretty casual atmosphere, especially considering the high quality of the fish. I honestly cannot wait to come back here. Staff was also polite and attentive. We stopped by Ananto Sushi for dinner while shopping in Santa Clarita, and it was such a great find! The staff was super friendly, and we got a kick out of the sushi chefs having some wine with us -- it made the atmosphere feel fun and relaxed. What a surprising sushi place this was for being in SCV. I say that because there's not a lot of fusion style sushi that also offers quality traditional sushi, and this one hits the spot. A sushi restaurant with a 4.8 rating captured my attention. I don't live in the Santa Clarita Valley so this place is new to me. Walking in to see Japanese sushi chefs was my first delight. The hostess seated me quickly and was very attentive during my meal. I received hot green tea refills before ever having to ask. I ordered the black snapper sushi and the Lily Roll. The black snapper, while small in quantity, was large in taste. I've had sushi all over the world and this is probably the best black snapper I've ever had. Compliments to the chef! The Lily roll was great as well. Rolls are not traditional Japanese cuisine and many sushi restaurants bury their older fish in them, but not Ananto! Very delicate and delicious. He was eagerly awaiting me to place my order and took his time making each item. The waitstaff on the other hand came off a little aggressive. This was my first time there and she came to me like seven times within 2 mins. I politely asked her to give me time and I would then cal her over to order. Food presentation was beautiful. Surprised by the quality of their fish. Loved this chirashi bowl type dinner special. All the fish tasted fresh and especially the tuna and the scallops. I have always said that Santa Clarita is NOT the place to get sushi but Ananto is proving me wrong! The fish tastes really fresh and the rice paired with the nigiri was cooked perfectly. Additionally, we also tried the Chicken Karrage dinner, which was delicious and would be an excellent choice for a picky eater! You can definitely tell it's a newer business when you walk in. The walls are pretty bare, so I think it would help the ambiance of the entire restaurant if they put up some art. I love how well staffed the restaurant was as well. Our servers were quick and kind and we never had to wait for long to order or even get refills on our water. As a former entrepreneur, I always notice new small businesses that pop up into the neighborhood, and I always like to give them their support that they deserve. I ran across this new sushi place passing by it while running errands in the area of Stevenson's Ranch. Because I have always been in search for a good sushi place here in Santa Clarita ( God knows how many I have tried but most of them are disappointing! ) I took a peek in the place and it seemed very clean, simple, minimalist vibe, and something about it that was inviting that made me come into the door. I'm very glad I did! My top requirement for a good sushi is the quality and freshness of their fish. And it checked that box. I ordered the 7 pieces Sushi Set ( it includes tuna, salmon, yellowtail , whitefish, Japanese scallop, shrimp sushi and tuna temake hand roll) for $29.95 that comes with a small soup and a little plate of salad. I devoured everything because they were all good and fresh! I also ordered the grilled hamachi collar that I later on found out they had, and took most of it home with me. I found out that this is a family run business and just opened a month ago and I got to know the lovely and welcoming owners Nats who was minding the front reception, Chef Tim who is running the sushi bar and the father of Chef Tim that was there to help out. They made me feel very welcome. I truly admire their hard work and dedication and most importantly, the courage to open a business on these trying times! Hats off to them. Ambiance is great! This place is tucked in the shopping plaza very close to where World Market is. Limited seating, but very clean and bright inside. We went for lunch, and they had great lunch specials. I got the Ananto bowl. The rice inside was great (seasoned just right) and the quality of the fish was really good. The only thing is that the fish was sliced very thinly, so the portion was on the lighter side. Luckily with the miso soup and salad, the set was just enough for me since it also had a good amount of rice; however, if you just order the sashimi lunch special, I could see some people still feeling hungry. The chef explained each fish that he gave us, which I appreciated. Wish the fish was thicker, but overall enjoyed my experience and can't complain about how fresh and tasty everything was. read more

New Japanese restaurant located near where I grew up which opened up last week. Pleasantly surprised by how fresh and amazing the sashimi pieces were in the ananto special bowls. In particular, I like the seasoned rice which gave extra special oomph for the sashimi. The food is on a completely different level from most Japanese places in the area. Typically, I have to visit Little Tokyo for similar quality where the sashimi is the main highlight rather than a ton of sauce. The servers were very nice and polite too. Right now (yr 2024) This place seems to serve most traditional sushi in the Santa Clarita Valley. If you are a specialty roll person~ stick with your local popular joints because they are pretty much all same... This place is hands down the best sushi spot in the Santa Clarita Valley! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the whole staff with a warm Japanese welcome. The vibe inside is cozy but still looks really nice. Now, let's talk about the food. First, we got some appetizers. The gyoza was both crispy and soft at the same time, so good. The garlic shishito peppers were to die for, super garlicky for anyone who loves garlic. The mixed tempura and soft shell crab were absolutely delicious too. It was cold so I had to get their miso soup, which was really tasty. Now, the sushi. We had salmon, yellowtail, uni, sweet shrimp, baked baby lobster roll, and ikura (salmon roe). Everything was incredibly fresh. The service was on point too--our server checked in on us every 10 minutes to make sure we were good, and they even refilled our drinks without us having to ask.
