I could truly write a novel about how much I enjoy this restaurant. As someone who regularly comes here for sushi, I've had the opportunity to try different items on the menu throughout the years. I fully trust everything coming out of here will be high quality and delicious. When I say I have legitimately been begging Chef Tim for YEARS to offer an omakase experience, I truly mean YEARS. Well, it was a random Wednesday and I found myself wandering in for dinner. Because it was a little early (5:30pm), there were no other customers seated (toward 6:15pm it started getting busy though!) . I gladly took the opportunity to once again beg Chef Tim to do a makeshift omakase experience for my partner and I. I was overjoyed when he agreed since it was on the slower side. He knows our order, and is familiar with our taste preferences, so I completely trusted him. I was super excited to watch Chef Tim be in his element, allowing him to be creative and make something he wouldn't necessarily have time for on a busy day. His passion truly shines in his craft and I knew this was going to be quite an exciting experience. Chef Tim's makeshift omakase experience included: halibut with truffle oil, cripsy rice with toro and caviar, miso chilean sea bass, a trio of seared items including scallop, aburi toro and peppered salmon, Blue fin akami, salmon belly and yellowtail belly, a pickled radish roll with Bluefin tuna, salmon yellowtail, and avocado and the A5 wagyu with uni. He also made secret menu items such as deep fried scallops, maguro yamakake, and my newest favorite which was the "fish taco." The "Fish Taco" was a deep fried garlic red snapper over creamy spicy tuna. I really did enjoy each and every dish he selected for us. I couldn't even begin to rank them because they were all fresh, delicious, served at the perfect temperature and paired well with one another. He did a great job at spreading out raw with deep fried, for a great balance of flavors and textures. (I'm still wishing that he would offer an omakase experience one day - he absolutely killed it!). I was pleasantly surprised by the A5 Wagyu with uni, "Fish Taco" and the the seared trio. It's funny because if you were to ask me I'd say I LOVE raw fish, so the fact that these three stood out to me really surprised me. Another thing is, I would never gravitate toward beef at a sushi spot, but I was thoroughly impressed with how well the flavors infused together. I knew they offered it on their menu, and like I said before, I thoroughly trust them, so if I was going to go out of my element it would be here. Another thing that I wanted to mention was that you can special order a whole sushi cake! While we didn't pre order one today, we had it in the past and it's also one of my favorite items. It consists of salmon and ikura on top with rice, masago, and imitation crab inside. I'd much prefer this over a real cake any day! Overall if you've stayed with me for this long, then you can probably already tell that I'm the self proclaimed President of the Ananto fan club. I visited this place with my family for dinner over the weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we parked in front, we noticed the restaurant was completely empty, which honestly made us hesitate to go in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, since we were already there, we decided to give it a try. ​After getting seated, we ordered drinks and wrote down our sushi order on the paper provided. We also added a few appetizers and rolls. Even though there were no other customers, the food took quite a long time to come out. ​The most disappointing part was the service. Instead of placing the dishes on the table, the server just handed everything to me directly. I had to take every single plate and set it down on the table myself. I'm not sure if the server was untrained or just lazy, but my wife and I could only laugh at how absurd it was. ​To top it all off, the sushi we ordered at the very beginning never arrived, even after we had finished all our other food. This is my 3rd time here and the quality of fish has not gone down at all. Met up with one of my best friends and we've decided that this is going to be our go to spot whenever we meet up. I ordered the Ananto Special Dinner bowl for my wife to go but because it was for dine in only, chef asked if I wanted to get sashimi instead with a side of rice, which I agreed to. As he was slicing chutoro, he mentioned what it was and I told him that was my favorite cut. Not expecting anything, he gave us a slice and it was melt in your mouth goodness! My friend and I continued to catch up and one of the outgoing guests bought him a glass of beer. Being grateful for the chutoro, I decided to order hot sake and share it with him. Some of the best I've had in Santa Clarita. I still love our OG "Light & Healthy" in Newhall (THE best AYCE!) but Ananto has special and unique offerings like sweet shrimp. We aren't light eaters by any means, but their 7pc set which comes with soup and a salad paired with a shared cut roll makes a decent meal! Our table thoroughly enjoyed our 7pc Sushi sets and the 9pc Sashimi set. The mild shirt miso soup paired with their green salad and house made wafu dressing is outstanding! The chef/owner makes all dressings and sauces fresh in house, and you can tell. There is care taken with rice and fish temperatures to optimize flavors, some are lightly brushed with what tastes like fresh yuzu.. the Spicy Tuna Roll doesn't have sriracha in it (thank goodness!).. they use chili oil, as it should be. Big mistake!!!Spent $115 and waited an hour and a half for the food when the place was not full at 6 pm. Ordered salmon sushi pieces (ok quality, not like Hawaii!!), vegetable tempura (cold, soggy), spicy tuna with crispy rice (soggy rice), and BSCR roll (not edible, scallops were fishy and dried out). The staff was super friendly, and we got a kick out of the sushi chefs having some wine with us -- it made the atmosphere feel fun and relaxed. I'll start by saying I'm a picky sushi eater. I resisted eating sushi for the longest time, until I had some in Japan and realized, like one of those light-bulb moments, "Ah ha! THIS is why people love sushi!" Unfortunately, most sushi in the US doesn't compare at all to that in Japan. And even in Japan, I am picky and have had plenty of sushi there that's just "meh." So I was hopeful, but trying not to get my expectations too high, trying Ananto sushi for the first time. I came here with a friend and I ordered four pairs of sushi, plus edamame and a cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was a generous serving, as was the edamame. The sushi consisted of relatively small slices of fish, on very tiny mounds of rice. That said, the fish was AMAZING and the rice was delicious. In fact, I loved the sushi so much I ordered a second round, with all the same fish. I tried black snapper, halibut, yellowtail and kinmedai. I loved every piece. The fish was fresh, extremely tender, and a silky soft texture. Light, fine flavor. Each piece had a little wasabi between the rice and the fish, though you can ask for it without wasabi as well. Some of the fish had a little additional seasoning and the flavors all went together perfectly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is located in a strip mall and it's small inside. Table seating, plus seating at the sushi bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Limited choice of sodas (Coke, diet Coke, Sprite), but they have hot tea, and they have alcoholic options as well. What a surprising sushi place this was for being in SCV. I say that because there's not a lot of fusion style sushi that also offers quality traditional sushi, and this one hits the spot. This was my first time there and she came to me like seven times within 2 mins. I politely asked her to give me time and I would then cal her over to order. Food presentation was beautiful. Seeing the 4.6 star reviews on Yelp I was excited to try Ananto and support a local family run business. After eating there today, I regret my decision and have no idea how they hold the 4.6 stars. This was a complete waste of money, and will be a one and done for sure. They charge high prices and deliver an inferior product with tiny portions with tiny pieces of fish. The special rolls are big prices for small rolls. The regular rolls are slightly higher than regular roll prices but less than half the size. The piece of fish in it was almost undetectable (Pic1). Literally smaller than the tip of your pinky finger. When I politely questioned the host about the absence of fish in the roll, the host indignantly said yep, that's normal; that's all we usually put in the rolls. There was no acknowledgement that there was any issue with the product, no suggestion of trying to make it right, it just is what it is, deal with it. So it's not a Yellowtail roll or an Albacore roll actually, it's a fish flavored rice roll. The Tuna roll was the most expensive, and was half the size of the other regular rolls (pic 2). So in summary, the overall theme at Ananto is give the patron as little as possible while overcharging them as much as possible. Very bad business model. If you like rice, and have total disregard for your money and getting good bang for your buck, this is the place for you. If you value your hard earned money and expect good quality & fair portion to price ratio, don't waste your time at Ananto. Find somewhere else to go so you don't end up leaving feeling completely violated. Buyer beware!!!! read more

I have always said that Santa Clarita is NOT the place to get sushi but Ananto is proving me wrong! The fish tastes really fresh and the rice paired with the nigiri was cooked perfectly. Additionally, we also tried the Chicken Karrage dinner, which was delicious and would be an excellent choice for a picky eater! You can definitely tell it's a newer business when you walk in. The walls are pretty bare, so I think it would help the ambiance of the entire restaurant if they put up some art. I love how well staffed the restaurant was as well. Our servers were quick and kind and we never had to wait for long to order or even get refills on our water. As a former entrepreneur, I always notice new small businesses that pop up into the neighborhood, and I always like to give them their support that they deserve. I ran across this new sushi place passing by it while running errands in the area of Stevenson's Ranch. Because I have always been in search for a good sushi place here in Santa Clarita ( God knows how many I have tried but most of them are disappointing! ) I took a peek in the place and it seemed very clean, simple, minimalist vibe, and something about it that was inviting that made me come into the door. I'm very glad I did! My top requirement for a good sushi is the quality and freshness of their fish. And it checked that box. I ordered the 7 pieces Sushi Set ( it includes tuna, salmon, yellowtail , whitefish, Japanese scallop, shrimp sushi and tuna temake hand roll) for $29.95 that comes with a small soup and a little plate of salad. I devoured everything because they were all good and fresh! I also ordered the grilled hamachi collar that I later on found out they had, and took most of it home with me. I found out that this is a family run business and just opened a month ago and I got to know the lovely and welcoming owners Nats who was minding the front reception, Chef Tim who is running the sushi bar and the father of Chef Tim that was there to help out. They made me feel very welcome. I truly admire their hard work and dedication and most importantly, the courage to open a business on these trying times! Hats off to them. Ambiance is great! This place is tucked in the shopping plaza very close to where World Market is. Limited seating, but very clean and bright inside. We went for lunch, and they had great lunch specials. I got the Ananto bowl. The rice inside was great (seasoned just right) and the quality of the fish was really good. The only thing is that the fish was sliced very thinly, so the portion was on the lighter side. Luckily with the miso soup and salad, the set was just enough for me since it also had a good amount of rice; however, if you just order the sashimi lunch special, I could see some people still feeling hungry. In particular, I like the seasoned rice which gave extra special oomph for the sashimi. The food is on a completely different level from most Japanese places in the area. Typically, I have to visit Little Tokyo for similar quality where the sashimi is the main highlight rather than a ton of sauce. The servers were very nice and polite too. Delicious dainty fresh quality sushi! A real standout was the Kinme Dai, a whitefish we hadn't tried before, which was perfectly seasoned with citrus brightness. Right now (yr 2024) This place seems to serve most traditional sushi in the Santa Clarita Valley. If you are a specialty roll person~ stick with your local popular joints because they are pretty much all same...
