General Tso with steamed rice and spring rolls
Zai A.

I'll start by saying the staff is incredible, extremely polite and very accommodating. The restaurant was very clean. The food was ok, not mad but not the best one had, I had the General Tso lunch special and I requested the spice level to be 10 because I was told that the food isn't really spicy, when it arrived it looked and smelled delicious. I was disappointed that it was really sweet and there was literally no spice it was taste but I couldn't get past the sweetness. I will definitely try again.

Searching for some dumplings and instead saw this place was just 2 minutes away. So glad we found it! The location is clean- simple decor but cute! The waitress (I did not catch her name) was VERY WELCOMING and friendly with an amazing smile. Brought us drinks right away while we looked over the menu. Totally different set up from most "Chinese" food places. They have the "typical" sweet and sour , garlic sauce , hunan, etc but .. the kicker is - you choose YOUR PROTEIN! So you make your dish your way basically! Lunch specials (11am-2) are only $10.99 with your choice of HOUSE SOUP ( egg drop, wonton or hot and sour) plus your choice of egg roll or 2 cream cheese rangoons. The menu has everything - including wings, pho, ramen, and desserts! The experience was easily 10 /10 for the price, taste, options and customer service! So I opted for the Coconut chicken curry with lo mein noodles and cheese rangoons and started with Hot and Sour soup! All so good!! Ended the meal with Deep fried raspberry cheesecake egg rolls! Can't say enough about them! It's definitely a place we marked and will be going back to time and time again!! Great job!!

Absolutely amazing experience here, one of the very best I've had in San Antonio. Overall experience 10/10 great food, great service, great atmosphere, especially appreciated Tera's help explaining the menu and really going over everything in great detail so my husband and I knew how to order. Will definitely be returning and recommending!

First time walking into to this place I was greeted right away! Amazing food!! I even bought it again for the second time a couple days ago and I will CONTINUE to come back here! Foods always fresh and I've never been disappointed 10/10!!

hair that was wrapped around that piece of chicken.

Found what I would call a moderately long hair in my food. Called the restaurant and instead of being apologetic and offering me a refund all I head was "I don't know where it could have come from. Everyone here has short hair and wears hair nets. We've never gotten a call like this. What do you want me to do?" In the most uncaring voice I've heard. My spouse and I were so disgusted by the hair and the way the so called manager handled things we threw out both plates.

It's very rare that a Chinese joint impressed me! With 80% of their business being TO-GO, Wok this way doesn't impress much in their dining room but their food 100% MAKES UP FOR IT! We are talking about hot, fresh, tasty Chinese made quick and easy! Nothing really fancy but just overall quality Chinese takeout food! I highly recommend yelpers!

A few months ago, I started receiving text messages about deals @wokthiswaysa. We're too far for delivery. I then heard about them being included in the San Antonio Restaurant Gold Diner's Program. Last night, Dad and I went to check them out for our Daddy-Daughter dinner. Paul was running the front of the restaurant all by himself and he is the most mild mannered and gentle person. I had the unsweet tea and Dad his usual Lemonade. We got the Dinner Combo which was 2 entrées, 2 drinks and 2 soups. We tried the Hot and Sour Soup and it was good. Not spicy. Dad had the Chicken Coconut Curry and I had the Orange Shrimp. Very generous portions and we had much to take home. I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai to go and with the Gold Diner's Program got half order of wings to go. We'll be having those for lunch tomorrow and maybe beyond. If you're in or near the 410 and Perrin Beitel area, check them out!

The second time I attempted to dine here, I downloaded their mobile app since they advertise an instant $2 off your first order. I quickly noticed the mobile app does not have any of the lunch or early bird special pricing. So instead of the $10.55/$11.55 (lunch, early bird respectfully) pricing advertised on the window minus $2 off for creating a new account, I was presented with $13.45 pricing. When I went to checkout there was no option to apply a $2 off coupon under "click here to see coupons" and it was also not automatically taken off; I did, however, find a $3 off when you spend $25 and applied that but the order was showing: Order Total: $26.43 Coupon Discount: $3.00 Amount After Discount: $23.43 ONLINE ORDERING FEE (8%): $2.23 TO PAY: $30.09 HUH? So perplexed I went inside and the lady working the counter was eating what looked like Pho (which is already unprofessional - if you're on the clock, you shouldn't be eating at the host desk). She grows frustrated with me when I'm asking her how we jump from $23.43 to $30.09 with only a $2.23 fee for online ordering (which I'm already not happy about). So as she's trying to argue and eat she's spitting Pho everywhere. And she keeps saying Tax and she doesn't realize what I'm telling her is if you're charging an 8% fee for the online order, even if you don't show sales tax, it should be a little more than the online ordering fee since it's 8% vs. 8.25% and we're still off by 8.3% to get to the $30.09 "TO PAY" price. So after I literally launch the calculator app and walk her thru each amount step by step she shoots back instantly with well there's "third party processing fees - it's either 15% or 30%" - WTAH - one you're already charging me an online ordering fee. Two, WHAT third party - didn't Y'ALL make the app. I'm not asking for delivery, I'm here in person. Three, IF you had a fee - wouldn't it be a set percentage amount? 15% vs. 30% is a huge spread difference and again- the amount in question is closer to 8% so that STILL doesn't make any sense. So then she pivots and says well if you order with me in the restaurant you save the 8% online ordering fee and I ask well what about the $2 off or $3 off could you apply either one of those? Instant no. I thanked her and left. When I was reading the reviews on here to see if I was crazy (and I have the screenshots, receipts for all of this) the business owner specifically calls out "no extra fees or commissions on any app orders." Well as of December 9, there is still an online ordering fee (8%) presented within the app and that was written in response to a review 5 months ago so if that's no longer true, maybe we should edit that out. Regardless, I ended up going across the street to Panda Express - THREE Entrees with rice and appetizer for under $16. No ridiculous online ordering fee. No random inflations to the price for "third party processing" and no one spitting Pho at me while they try to argue math that literally does not math.

This was quite an impressive winner, considering Vonia nearly always consistently gives the…read moreAmericanized Chinese establishments no higher than a 2.5, usually less. Why? I have the opinion that each culture should be proud of its own cuisine; "Americanized" should not even be a thing. I understand business is business, and most patrons will want "toned down" dishes that are closer to what their eyes, minds, palates, and stomachs are familiar with, but I do not think this should be encouraged. Sure, sometimes you do not want to try something new; I confess, sometimes I also want the comfort that comes with, well, comfort food. Not every meal needs to be an adventure. For this, Panda Express is an excellent choice, they have it covered; even Pei Wei & P.F. Chang's. Other places, slightly more highly priced, do not need to be Americanized. This place might be an exception! From the exterior advertisements to the inside coupons being offered exclusively for ordering online, it is obvious they want to be a business focused on delivery & takeout, not so much dining in experiences. This is further confirmed to see there are but 2 employees in the front of house that will have to cover any serving, waitering, in addition to cashiering for any orders to go. First win is that these two ladies were very welcoming, customer service was great, they were nice, made sure we good what we needed. Inside ambiance, clean, simple, maybe even sleek. Well lit, maybe plain but most everything you need seems to be on the tables already, including scattered menus- some you may need to take one from the front- but the soy sauce, salt, pepper, hot sauce, utensils, even plates are there! There are more than ten tables, absolutely you can dine in should you desire that. Next win, quick service. Maybe 15 total minutes to produce our two dishes after we placed the order. We requested no onions, scallions in either, they remembered. (Based on the frequency that dining establishments somehow forget special requests, this is actually a significant win!) We did get takeout, they were generous with the condiments, and I took some time to feed my camera. They looked over but continued to be friendly through the end, when they graciously bid us a great night, even though I did my pictures, taking out the takeout, even though all I did was put it back in and leave. Now the food. Yes, Americanized, but also so fresh and well executed, I do not mind nearly as much. Also, there are some elements that are genuine Chinese, at least leaning that way. Glad the woman who took my order understood my Mandarin! The Combination Lo Mein was flavorful, white meat chicken tender, shrimp, beefs, also tender and well sauced. Wish it had more vegetables than the minimal napa cabbage. The second dish, Beef Vegetable, with Fried Rice. Have to say, even the fried rice was flavorsome and noticeably better than the usual Chinese takeout. Still plain, but that is to be expected mostly. Near in the main entree was wading, not drowning in the brown sauce. Had larger portions for the napa cabbage, white mushroom, carrots, broccoli, bamboo, baby corn. Cooked well, satisfying. Portion sizes were fulfilling. The Lo Mein noodles were not the thin egg noodles used for authentic chow mein, the fried rice was assuredly not the traditional Yangzhou Chinese fried rice. The dinner was 5 stars within the context of Americanized Chinese, but within a general dining experience, it was not the best of the best. Have no issues with returning. Looking forward to it, in fact. Confidently recommended for a fast, flavorsome, friendly, fresh meal!

The fish cake and kimchi cucumbers were good, but others like the kimchi and the bean sprouts could have used more flavor. As an entree, I ordered the spicy tofu soup, but I wish it was a little spicier! The soup also had a stronger seafood/fish taste compared to other tofu soups I've had, which I didn't expect. Because I am on a work trip, I did not have to worry about pricing, but I did think that, although it is the standard, this meal was pretty expensive. It was over $33 but I did add a fried egg and extra chicken. I ordered the Krapo with medium spice and it was perfectly spicy. There was a perfect amount of Thai basil in the dish and it was wet enough for the rice to be a perfect addition. The bell peppers and the onions were absolutely spectacular. Now for the Boba. I ordered a combination of coconut, kiwi and watermelon. I also made sure that I subbed out the milk for coconut water as I cannot tolerate dairy. This Boba smoothie might be the best Boba I have ever had. I will say that the lid is kind of confusing because I do not know if the Thai restaurant makes it or if it is a neighboring restaurant. Regardless, I would be back just for this eight dollar Boba. Upon arriving to the restaurant, there was limited parking and inside it was super crowded. Obviously this is a popular spot and a lot of people ordered delivery through apps. It was kind of chaotic when picking up, but it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant was dark, but it did seem clean. My only grip here is that they must've been so rushed that they did not give me silverware or napkins. I had to beg my hotel to accommodate me.
