Wok and Roll gets a bad rap. Not sure why so many negative reviews. The service is always top notch and food is always piping hot. And pretty tasty. Prices are reasonable too. -pork fried rice(7.4) pretty good, light in color, not mushy, good texture ,good amount of green onion , onion , bean sprouts, and roasted pork bits. - egg roll (7.8)nice wrapper with some crisp. Very moist, a little greasy in a good way. Interior mostly cabbage and vegetables. Good flavor though. -Fried shrimp (7.9.)Good size pieces of shrimp in the old school wet batter. Great shrimp flavor. -Crab Rangoon (8.4)recently changed recipe. crispy wrapper with perfect amount of crabmeat filling,not too sweet but not too cream cheesy either , great crab flavor, good balance. -Shrimp with lobster sauce(7.5)Good Unami flavor if not a little bit salty, very good consistency, not too goopy and not too watery. Could have used a little more ground pork and no need for green peas. Nice fresh snappy shrimp. read more

Dumpy little place off Main Street looks like a converted hair salon or delicatessen. Mostly over the counter takeout with a couple tables. Low budget decor and not very clean. Sweet & Sour Chicken: About a dozen and a half nuggets, a little smaller than the McDonald's model, all very round and very puffy, like a beer batter, served unsauced. Simple red sweet and sour sauce on the side, gloppy, with no pineapples or cherries. Cutting into a nugget (with a fork, since they don't have plastic knives) reveals a VERY low chicken-to-batter ratio. Chicken itself tender, and batter had decent crunch outside, way too puffy and borderline uncooked inside. Pork Fried Rice: Kind of on the dry side and definitely on the light side, but if you can get past these two, not a bad pork fried rice. It certainly had flavor, and there was enough pork to make it not seem skimpy. Egg Roll: Decent, as long as you're not looking for protein. Tiny specs among the moist and crispy greenery. Good crunch. Duck Sauce: They have the pink packets on the counter, which is scary, but with the meal comes a plastic container of the real stuff. Most Chinese restaurant duck sauce starts with apple sauce, but this was more obvious and not much different from straight apple sauce. All things considered, hardly impressive, but doable if you're really in a pinch. Certainly better (and a better value and no less safe) than the fast food options around town. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but DEFINITELY the best in the area. I got the L5 lunch special - chicken with garlic sauce and I substituted the egg roll for crab Rangoons. The food was very fresh and hit when I got it. Normally when I get this from other Chinese restaurants it's very greasy, but it wasn't this time. The garlic sauce had a small kick (spice) but it wasn't spicy for me at all - I do have a high spice tolerance though so it might be spicy for others. Lunch costed me around $9 which included the extra fee I paid for the substitution. Definitely worth it overall. Can't wait to go back and try something else next time! read more

We usually order from here and never had any issues. We ordered food and paid for it on Monday for new years eve delivery at 6 pm knowing they would be busy. My neighbor also ordered but on new years got their food at 6 where ours came at 7:30 after us calling them. They forgot half our order and when we called no apology and then we had to call them again! they then said we were going to pick it up... no . so after another 9 finally got our cold food. I understand being busy but on your busiest night, you should be more organized and get the food out to the people who ordered ahead and not over book time slots. As a long time customer I will not be going back. The food wasn't good and the service was worse! read more

Doesn't look like much from an 'ambience' standpoint but I didn't come for frills. Food is good! Picked it up for lunch and didn't have high expectations given some of these reviews but was pleasantly surprised! The fried rice had a lot more flavor and veggies than most places and the spare ribs were great! Beef teriyaki and general tso's were pretty good too. Might miss the rangoons next time (I like mine crispier) but will be ordering again and looking forward to trying more dishes. Can't beat this price and speediness. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE!! Tried Wok n' Roll for the first time for food during the Super Bowl...., what a MAJOR mistake, the food is awful and the premises seemed pretty messy & dirty as well. Picked up 2 meals, one a chicken dish and the other a beef, chicken & shrimp dish w/veggies. Everything appeared as if it was a reheated leftover..., the beef especially looked and tasted like "wet soggy cardboard" and the white rice was like paste. We have lived local for couple years and decided to try this place despite the reviews. It is very good Chinese takeout. It is clean but not a fancy eat in place. Food was fresh hot and tasty. Service was good. Menu is very large, maybe too large. They may want to get rid of things that don't fit like the sushi. Takeout sushi is scary anyplace and it is an invitation for problems. We will come back to try some other appealing items. read more

This was my first time to order here, I ordered for delivery. The driver parked in front of my house but didn't come here, he went to all the neighbors. Then he brought me someone else's food. I ordered a few items, but got terrible diarrhea, from just eating the soup.. I thought it tasted a little weird? When I walked into the place, I was not very impressed with cleanness? The fish tank is disgusting to look at, sitting above the sea food menus! If the fish tank is filthy and disgusting? After buying a Christmas Tree and spending 2 hours putting lights on it I lost track of time and forgot about dinner. So I just placed my first order at Wok n' Roll after living 5 miles away for 12 years! I was pleasantly surprised...food was very tasty! We ordered basics; House Special Fried Rice, House Special Egg Foo Young and some Dinner Combo Plates that included Teriyaki Beef, Teriyaki Chicken, Chicken Fingers and Pork Fried Rice. It took exactly one hour from order to delivery...not too bad. The driver was very pleasant and the whole family enjoyed what they ordered. We'll definitely try some more of their offerings on another night soon. read more

Wok n' roll offers quality food at reasonable prices. Well, about as quality as you would expect from a take out Chinese place. If you are expecting fine dining, I do not recommend. If you're too lazy to cook or go out and just want to crack open a cold one on the couch with your buddies, this is definitely the place to order from. Flavor is good, but overall very unhealthy so don't order this often. Service is reasonable, but don't expect too much kindness. Overall, 7/10 for what they advertise vs what you get. read more

I think when most people get Chinese take out they don't expect to be blown away by freshness or amazing flavors and this place does not disappoint in that regard. They have everything you don't want when you order Chinese food...greasy, flavorless, uninspired food, placed in styrofoam containers (which melt from the heat) cooked by people who are miserable in a restaurant that looks and feels dirty when you walk in. Decided to give Wok n' Roll a try. We didn't expect much, and got what we expected. As soon as we walked in, we knew we'd probably never be back. It was a bit rundown, old signs, tacky decorations, a few tables and chairs in the corner. Then we noticed the bright orange "duck sauce" packets: a bad sign. Nevertheless, we placed an order for takeout. We ordered combo plates (General Gau's/Crag Rangoon/Pork Fried Rice and Beef Teriyaki/Chicken Fingers/Spareribs/Pork Fried Rice), pan-fried peking ravioli, and an eel & avocado roll. These covered our typical litmus test items. Overall, just not enjoyable and savory like other Chinese restaurants. Gau's was dry and plain. Crag Rangoons were very light on crab. The other appetizers were just average, not terrible, but not enjoyable either. Peking raviloi were slightly better than the other appetizers, but smaller in size than most places serve. The Pork Fried Rice was a light, yellowish color rather than the brown you'd expect. Light on pork, heavy on onion and bean sprouts. Finally the sushi was slightly dry and had small pieces of eel and avocado, and no pickled ginger (even though I don't eat it anyway). It was worth a try, but we'll be sticking with Asian Imperial Garden in Lunenburg. read more

Cheap eats.. and the quality also reflects that too. This is not Myers + Chang, so don't go looking for that in li'l ol' Ayer. Nice selection of your standard Chinese fare, and the sushi is freshly-made in the early evening. Personal favorites include the crab rangoons, the bone-in spare ribs and scallion pancakes.. yummy! The third star is for delivery, it gets busy at night but you will have your food within the half-hour in the Ayer-Littleton-Groton area. My reviews are short sweet and to the point so you can get on with your day. Iv'e never bothered to update a review before (as no one was warranted it in my mind) But after numerous complaints i have to say this place as improved tremendously the decor still sucks and the inside still looks straight from the 70's..however the food has improved a ton...it tastes fresher constantly the rice and chicken more moist and the help has become far more friendly. I have to give kudos where it is deserved and they earned it here with a big turn around. I re review them as a 4/5 stars in the BUDGET Chinese food category Keep up the good work and keep improving! If I could give 0 stars, you bet I would. Order at your own risk of being belittled by the employees. We were quoted 30-45 minutes for delivery. An hour after ordering I called to find out where my food was, and was berated for 'calling so soon when I was so far away' (15 minute drive). At the hour and 10 minutes after ordering, we get our food (warm, not hot). Tipped the driver a low amount for these reasons. He stood there and berated is for tipping so low when he 'drove 30 minutes'. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever received, and I've gotten some crap service before. read more

Wok n' Roll is one of my favorite restaurants. After attending the Groton School for three years and ordering Wok dozens and dozens of times, I can confirm that their service is truly dysfunctional and their food alien to all parts of the world. These are not criticisms. They are merely truths which you must overcome if you are to realize one of the most transcendent food experiences known to man. Sure, the staff can be aggressive. They will hang up on you if you try to pay with a debit card and will scream at you if you aren't standing outside waiting for them when your delivery arrives, even if it is freezing cold, you have no cell service, and are recovering from a broken leg. And yeah, they might curse at you and your friends during the transaction or make fun of your orders or backgrounds, but ignore them. You brought this upon yourself when you selected this restaurant and, ultimately, their words will hurt a lot less than their food. But don't get spooked, it's delicious. That is, assuming you can figure out which items on the menu won't make you sick, which may take a few tries. In my experience it only takes four or five meals to build up a tolerance. After that you just can't sleep as well after ordering, but don't need to sprint to the bathroom anymore. And still, Wok remains dear to my heart. Wok is unchanging. It is exactly what it is and you will not get something else. Want a mediocre, slightly-questionable, and yet somehow satisfying giant tub of pork-fried rice to munch on while pulling an all-nighter? Wok is the place for you. When it is 10:30 at night and all the other restaurants are closed, Wok is the place for you. When it is snowing out, and no one else wants to endanger their delivery guys, Wok is the place for you. When your boarding school has banned all Wok n' Roll drivers from delivering to your campus because one of Wok's driver snuck into one of the dorms so that he could deliver food to a student in their room... Wok is the place for you. Wok is more than just a restaurant, it is a spiritual undertaking. A right of passage. A future memory and an unwritten story. To ignore Wok is to brush off a unique opportunity in your life to do something different. It is a chance to step off the beaten path. To rewrite the history of your life. Do yourself a favor and give them a call, no matter what your doctor says. If ordering Wok n' Roll doesn't kill you, you'll want to tell your grandkids about it. read more

I finally was brave enough to try this place. I can't believe they've been in business so long. I'm not a fussy person, but this place is awful! Nothing was good including the white rice. The so called chicken in the chow mein was disgusting! Didn't look like chicken, taste like chicken, and definitely didn't have the texture of chicken. Stay away!! read more

On Friday 5/3 I picked up mooshi chicken to go from Wok n' Roll. On 5/6 I started with stomach cramps and by Tuesday morning on 5/7 I had digestive problems across the board including dizziness and confusion so my wife took me to the hospital ER where I was admitted due to the severity. It cleared up two days later on 5/9 and I was discharged. The final culture showed I had a Campylobacter infection which incubates in 2-4 days and is present in undercooked poultry. The only poultry I had on 5/2 or 5/3 was the mooshi chicken from Wok n' Roll. The mass board of health has been in contact and were notified. read more
