DeKalb County would've come and taken them for free, or something close to it, but it would've taken 2 weeks and I needed the house empty. Enter 1-800-GOT-JUNK. I'm under the gun on time, but $285 for one ottoman and one rug is excessive, even with our current economy. I suppose I could've tried to load them up and drop them off myself. Perhaps I should've. I honestly think they saw the house and jacked up the price. The interactions were fine. They didn't damage anything, and I know that rugs have to go to a separate facility, but this was a $125 job at most. The last one I cleared had rat droppings and leaves. Probably rats moved them in for insulation during the winter months. I rarely visited my units. It was unexpected to see this much litter.
