This was so easy! We are moving, and I needed a safe way to recycle a host of old electronic…read moredevices. After searching for a source, I found a great solution, close to home with eWaste ePlanet. Easy drop off and the data was destroyed off two computers.

In support of Earth Day a couple weeks ago (April 22nd), our office park partnered with eWaste…read moreePlanet, an electronics waste management and recycling company, to collect old and unwanted electronics for recycling. This service was completely free. eWaste ePlanet set up giant cardboard boxes, one on each loading dock at our office park, for people to deposit electronics. Property management sent an email to tenants about the electronics recycling drop-off boxes. eWaste ePlanet was accepting all sorts of items including monitors, displays, VCRs, DVD players, home stereo equipment, cable/satellite boxes, computer towers, servers, laptops, power cords, network equipment, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, plotters, cell phones, chargers, batteries, keyboards, mice, cables, spare parts (e.g. hard drives, motherboards, memory, etc.), power adapters, cords, USB cables, universal power supplies, and more. I saw this as a great opportunity to get rid of an old computer, laptop, and accessories I had been hanging onto, but had not used in many years. They included an old Dell Dimension 4100 PC with power cord, Dell QuietKey keyboard, Microsoft Mouse, clunky HP notebook and power adapter, and Linksys WRT54G router. All of my stuff was still in working condition, so I wonder if any of the equipment gets re-used or if it's all just thrown into a big pile that gets stripped down and the metal scrapped. eWaste ePlanet does not make this clear. The boxes were around outside for about a week before eWaste ePlanet came by and picked them up. It's possible my working equipment was crushed and broken by other equipment thrown on top and/or they succumbed to the elements or changing temperatures. eWaste ePlanet accepts drop-offs 24/7 at their location in Norcross. They also have a location in Long Island City, NY. The drop-off spot in Norcross is good to know about for the next time I want to recycle old electronics.

Yes, it's true that stuff should be picked up at the curb, but when I find I have an abundance of cardboard boxes or the like, it is easier to drop them off at the bins outside Caraustar than to "hope" Gwinnett County's trash service is in the mood to pick them up (or leave them in the driveway, they are quite persnickety about empty cardboard boxes ... god forbid empty boxes might push their limit over the edge or something, of course we know there is going to be stellar--- cough, cough---recycling pick-up "coming soon" courtesy of the new "City" of peachtree corners (cough, hack!). In the meantime, it's no problem to swing by Caraustar during their daytime hours and drop off a bunch of boxes for recycling.

It's Mostly been a hassle for me BC I have not been able to find a place to drop it off. I'm very excited to have found this spot. I missed the entrance, it's somewhat hidden. It's located on the side where there's a whole bunch of trees. Go straight toward the back and there's a sign that says wait for someone to direct you. There was a guy in a Bob cat who told me where to place everything. He was very friendly. There was no bins like the previous review stated. I just threw everything on the ground in separate piles. I'm not sure if that was just this time or all the time. Regardless i'm happy I found a location near my job.
