I had heard two thins about this place that caught my attention. 1) The Chinese food is better than most take out places. 2) They offer discounts to airline employees. That said, we made the journey. Our enthusiasm was short lived. Despite checking both Yelp and the Casino website, no one thought it was necessary to post that they were closed for renovations. Considering, I didn't see any trucks and waste bin, I suspect it wasn't renovations and the place either had a health issue or was hemorrhaging so much cash they had to close their doors. I get it, it's tough all over, but if you can't communicate with customer digitally, you are not reaching your customer base. Your digital footprint is the backbone for your business and if unmanaged, you are not maximizing your outreach. After this disappointment, we crossed the street to Azteca and I question if I'll ever be able to get that bad taste out of my mouth. read more

Wizards is a small casino located right next to a bowling alley. They only offer poker and card games - lots of Pai Gow Poker, a few Spanish 21 and baccarat tables, and maybe one regular blackjack. No slot machines. Overall, I like this casino - my first visit was fortunate in that no one seems to smoke here, and the dealers and staff are very friendly. The table games are quite favorable for the player with some rules that are not common in other places: Pai Gow Poker: No commission for winning hands, which saves 5% and cuts down the house edge. The only downside is that you're forced to play the bonus side bet. However, you can just put $1 and hope to win your main hand. They have additional side bets for progressives along with betting that the dealer has a crappy hand. Spanish 21 Dealer Match: They offer the match-the-dealer option for EITHER or BOTH the dealer's up card and hole card. So the funny thing is that you can bust your hand and still have an opportunity to win the match on the dealer hole card. The other funky rule that could benefit the player is the "double double" down - where you can keep doubling your bet if you're dealt tiny cards vs. say a dealer's "6.". Imagine if you're dealt 2-3 and then pick up a 8 followed by a face card... Wizards also offers decent takeout food, from some hidden kitchen. It requires casino comps (e.g., play for 2 hrs), and surprisingly quality is pretty good. My dad and I both got comped for a huge prime rib steak that was probably 1-inch thick! Nice peppery crust and pretty soft for a meat that thick. Some horse radish would have been nice, though. read more

I arrived in Seattle at around 11PM on the 4th of July. I was surprised that every bar was closed. My friend and I said "screw it" and hit the casino. Wizards Casino is the jam. This place isn't by any means a luxury casino. There are taped pieces of paper over table games reminding guests to please "only speak English." The "pit bosses" consists of older Asian women sitting by the door. But forget all of that. This place has some decent food! And they serve it until 3:00AM! The first two pages of the menu are all Chinese and Vietnamese! They have hot pot which you can order until 3! Late night drinks, bahn mi sandwiches and some salt and pepper wings was a great ending to my 4th of July. Skip Taco Bell and come here eat here. They have lobster night one night. I don't file reviews. This is my first. I've played poker for eleven years. I've played in several casinos. Don't play here. I had a high chip stack in a tournament. I called a hand (blinds 800/400). I verbalized the call, and placed one chip down. In doing so, I moved the chips over the line. The dealer called this all in. I let him know I'd said call. He said, because my chips moved over the line, I had to go all in. I was first act, with approx $10K. The hand I had was callable, but nothing you'd push with. At this point, there was little I could do. I could call over the Pit Boss, but normally, this is the dealer's responsibility. If I do, I show weakness in the hand. The dealer had committed me to an all in, I'm better offer, letting the cards roll, to kill off hands, then tipping what I have and getting several callers. The dealer didn't call over the Pit Boss. One player saw me push, called and won. I asked for clarification from the Pit Boss 1-2 hands later. He said if I verbalized call, that was the move, but because he wasn't called over there was nothing he could do. He checked with the dealer who confirmed I thought I'd called, and expressed that. A witness verified he'd heard me call. Every other casino I've played at would comp the next buy-in here. I speak quietly. I respect the job dealers do, and can believe he didn't hear me (they pipe in music). Once I questioned his call, that'd necessitate him bringing the Pit Boss over in my eyes. By not doing that, he hamstrung me. Forcing the player to protest, puts me in a no-win position. I protest, and every player knows I don't have a great hand. I don't and I'm just out. It's a $35 buy-in, but the worst run tournament I've ever played in. I called over the floor manager later. He played the Anger Management game (Adam Sandler movie). Said a sentence. I tried to respond, and he interrupted me, and said I interrupted him. He then just started to alternate between speaking over me, or being really snarky. $35 isn't a huge buy in. I've lost $1000 before, with a smile on my face. It was the call made here, the refusal to call the floor manager from the dealer, and the refusal for the floor manager to do anything after having a witness verify I'd called. That's my problem. $35 or $1000.. I don't like feeling scammed. I felt scammed here. They will never get another dollar from me. *I'm not sure the rule 100% poker wise. I'd verbalized call. I didn't push the chips. I had them in my hand when I dropped one after verbalizing. I originally asked the floor manager for clarification on the rule. I can believe it's different per casino and was asking for clarification. My frustration comes from nothing being done, after the floor manager saying I'd been wronged if I verbalized call and having a witness verify I did. I believe at that point it's the casino's acting to refund the buy-in. I've never asked for that, but in this case, I couldn't see any other way to make the situation right. read more

This is for the restaurant part since I don't gamble. The menu is largely dedicated to the Chinese food, and the other two pages are for Vietnamese and American food. If you're into largely Chinese food, then this place is perfect for you. My sister-in-law and I were there during the night the restaurant was having a Christmas party for its employees, so it was quite hard to get the servers' attention for proper service. I had to come up to the bar to ask for a menu to finally let one of the bartenders know that we were there as customers. We ordered crispy noodles and salted fish fried rice. The noodle dish was good, and the fried rice was good as well (not too strong-flavored since the fish was already salty). I'd definitely come back here to try more food. Hopefully, the service will become a bit better with no distraction as I understood there was a Christmas party and the staff was busy. read more

There are TV's on each wall and it is a great place to hang out, have a business meeting or gather with friends before a game. Ok. You may be looking at the other reviews, like Kiki M's, and asking yourself who IS this fool giving Wizards 5 stars? Well for you, I deliberately slug my $1 happy hour Bud Light down my over-35 year-old alcoholic gullet so that I can show off my glistening greasy dirt-logged fingernails... straight at ya babe! *Wink* I have to say, the place does have character. It's great people watching. People here seem to be pretty serious gamblers, so if you don't gamble, you might get a bit bored... unless you go to the BAR, of course! On the other hand, it doesn't seem depressing to me. People eat, drink, and gamble away. They smile. They concentrate on their game. They talk to each other. It's a casino, after all! The staff are accommodating and friendly. I have never been treated with anything less than friendly and attentive there, even though the waitresses might be running around all over trying to serve the entire floor and the bar at the same time. The gambling floor-space is a bit oddly-laid out, a bit cramped in spots, but it's still comfortably cozy. Wizards re-opened under new management last year, and I believe it has made at least one tremendous improvement... the food. Now this isn't fancy-schmancy 5-star cuisine. You can go to a Las Vegas casino for that treatment. But it IS a very interesting menu serving mostly asian-inspired dishes of all kinds, and a full menu of american items as well, including breakfast. There are other casinos that have a similar asian-inspired/american menu, but I've never seen a menu quite like this. I am a huge soup fan, and they have so many different varieties of soup, I'm not sure I could even count them. It's enough to get me all steamy. This is perhaps the only place where I've seen pho served alongside many other asian-inspired soups of origins I can't quite figure out. Korean? Chinese? It's hard to tell for sure. Today, I had their special: The Duck soup. Tender, perfectly cooked pieces of duck are served over a huge plate of some kind of marinated cabbage (not really Korean kim-chi, and not too spicy, so I'm not sure what this is.) It was a big plate of it with the duck nicely laid out on top, but at first I was all... THAT'S NOT SOUP! Until the waitress brought out a second, HUGE bowl of broth and noodles. Whoa. What army am I supposed to feed here? Well, I hear the Libyan rebels could use some help, but that's an aside. This is kind of a make-your-own soup. The soup had a tremendous variety of flavors, including ginger, cilantro, mushrooms, and with the marinated cabbage in there, the bright and slightly pickled flavor with the broth perfectly opened up the darker, more robust earthy flavor of the duck. And all this for around $12. I have had several different types of soups here, and I'm telling you, whoever is cooking and presenting these soups, knows what they're doing. I haven't a clue if they are authentic in any way, but man are they good. But they don't just do soup, of course. You can get so much from their broad menu from a chicken-pesto sandwich for around $8 to ravioli for about $12 to steaks for around $15 to loaded 5-item omelets for $8. They have marinated quail. Quail! They have lobster! They have a beef-ginger hot pot that's not really a hot pot, more like a stir fry! And guess what people say about that? Yup. It's REALLY good. Somebody mentioned that as a vegetarian it's hard to find a lot of variety. While the menu IS meat-heavy, there is plenty more for vegetarians than fries, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings that came from the freezer section... in fact, I don't even remember seeing these on the menu. There is tofu and vegetable dishes and cheese omelets and such. I'm not vegetarian so I can't speak for one. Still, I think the new management must have hired a new cook, and changed the menu... and the food is GOOD. Ok? All worked up about this... AREN'T you?! Well, you'll just have to trust me because there is no website for Wizards with sleak page designs and wide-angle photos to give you some glitzy preview. No. You'll just have to go and partake in the Wizard's magical experience ALL to yourself. It is open 24-7 after all (the restaurant is "only" open from 11am-4am). See ya there. I'll be in the corner of the bar winkin' at ya with a drink in my hand, showing off those shiny fingernails just for you! If I'm not passed out yet, at least. PROS: Friendly, attentive staff serving up one of the more interesting menus I've seen in a long time (for a "regular" place, anyway), and with very good food. It's a casino. People gamble. Wizards is the type of place you'd go if you want to be amongst people you know have had a hard strenuous day at work: middle-aged construction workers, diner waitresses past their prime, mechanics in their mid-life crises. This is a blue collar joint in every sense of the word. If you are a young professional, this bar isn't for you. If you are under 35, this bar isn't for you. If you have a little dirt under your nails, have a penchant for gambling, and the intense desire to start drinking the minute you wake up, this bar is for you. I had seen Wizards plenty of times but never ventured in because it is a casino and I don't gamble. I'd rather waste my money on more functional things like high heels and booze. One Friday night after work, and really needing a drink to unwind from the week, my co--worker suggested Wizards and I curiously, yet cautiously, accepted her invitation. My co-worker hadn't made it yet, so I walk into Wizards and take a brisk tour through the casino area. Card tables are scattered about and as I make a loop back to the entrance I see pull tabs. I get to the bar and find it to be a similar to many bars I have been a patron of. So this wouldn't be such a frightening experience after all. If gambling isn't your thing there are two pool tables, a dart machine, and a huge jumbotron sized tv. I get to the bar to order myself a libation. It was happy hour which occurs every day from 4-7pm and as a result of that my Bud Light was only $1. Talk about recession prices! I feel like a winner and I don't even gamble! My co-worker joins me at the bar with her Yukon Jack and cranberry juice in tow. I need food in my belly if I am getting my drink on. Appetizers were 25% off and as a vegetarian I unfortunately didn't have much to choose from. It was either mozzarella sticks, onion rings, or fries so I ordered a sampler plate with all three snacks. My food arrived and it was typical frozen food fare which I couldn't be disappointed in. I wasn't expecting high quality food here. Despite my initial hesitation, I spent about three hours at Wizards. My co-worker and I talked, ate, continued to drink our outrageously cheap drinks, played some pool tabs (my co-worker won about $7) and had a nice conversation with an older patron. I will probably visit Wizards again because it is hard to find the willpower to pass up $1 beers. read more

Wizards Casino is a great place to hang out. They have Blackjack, Pai Gow, Poker, etc. I played the noon Texas hold'em tournament for only $35 and made second place. I ended cashing out over $600. As a female poker player, I felt so comfortable with the friendly players and employees. Service was great and they have a huge Chinese menu. So many promotions and cash giveaways as well. I was turned off by how unprofessionally run this place is. Food is mediocre at best, the worst "runny" honey walnut shrimp I've ever tried. It disturbed me that there were people eating right under the game tables. The management somehow allows this to happen? One lady would lower her head and use her fingers to grab a morsel of food parked on an empty player's chair during times the dealer would shuffle or deal the cards on the table. And then she would use those same fingers to play her cards. One Asian female pit boss or manager was a complete joke. She wouldn't keep track of the buy-ins properly and I wouldn't be surprised if she just simply rounds up or guesses the comps - all according to her fluctuating mood. I've always been treated well with respect and appreciation from different casinos as a player. Never had issues with any of the employees - in fact I'm used to enjoying the little friendships between the familiar faces. I was completely taken back by her rudeness and condescending attitude when I tried to ask her about how the hundreds $ of extra buy ins the other night didn't change the comps from the day before- the male employee who was on the floor while I had extra buy-ins had assured me that I was going to get additional comp credit for those - she had no regard for that whatsoever. Wizards has never really had great service...but today was the worst. I showed up for breakfast today and sat down at a table in the bar. The bar had 3 other customers beside me. I'm a 49 year old black male. The bartender did not acknowledge me and whenever I tried to make eye contact he would look away. So I figured he would eventually have to acknowledge me as there were only three people in the bar. 37 minutes passed...and I'm sitting in an empty bar with no food or drink while the bartender cleans. A white guy walked in and sat at the table next to me. The bartender instantly stopped what he was doing and brought him a menu and took his order. Then an older white couple came in and were instantly served. So, now I'm sitting in a bar with 7 people and have been sitting 40 minutes and not even a menu. I tried to go to this casino one night, while being 80 degrees still outside, they said "no tank tops" and forced my friend and I to leave. Literally the worst customer service. I came here to play poker because I heard there was new management and because Billy Okomoto & Pepper Uno originally from Diamond Lil's are managing the poker. The asian food was very good and it leans towards a vietnamese/chinese menu and of course your standard american burgers and fries menu. What I loved is that they have balut / ht vt ln here for $1 and there's a Player's Card buffet on Sundays and it's included it. LOL read more

Wizards Casino is a great place with plenty of accommodations. From great drink prices and very good food to bathrooms that are always immaculate and clean. The reason I mention bathrooms is because a lot of these mini casinos in the state always have restrooms that are trashed and sometimes unusable. The staff at Wizards does an incredible job that they are always clean and spotless and makes you feel like your in a Vegas bathroom. The food is always sensational and consistent. There is a wide variety of Chinese food and American food. I highly recommend you try the Kalbi Ribs, they are incredible. I haven't had one thing off the menu that wasn't superb. There are plenty of gaming tables and poker tables. Dealers are nice and friendly. The cage girl in the day is extremely nice with a great personality Also a great place to watch football with all their variety of drinks and drink specials and their food. If you are hired to work for Wizards as a Cook, or are asked to do a working interview in the kitchen, you better plan on Working For Free! It's actually WA state law to be paid for a working interview. I was hired and then went in to work for 8 hours and they never paid me, nor did Gary, the mgr ever return a phone call or text. I signed in and out (at the pit) on the day I worked so they can't claim that I did not work. Very shady business practices going on there. read more

If you can get past the high probability of being robbed between the parking lot and the door you can enter to be given a poker lesson before starting. They need to stress the rules are very strict they say. But when it comes down to it the dealers are more worried about handing out one round penalties for playing out of turn then they are of people talking constantly after they fold and influencing the game. I watched it happen for the first four rounds with other players before it finally happened to me on an all in. He wasn't going to call but he was talked into it by the regulars only to hit his two outer on the river. The guy who wouldn't shut up the entire game told me afterwards he just likes to see cards flying and wants everybody to call. If that's not influencing the game what is? I came to Wizards to play poker. I am a serious poker player and play a lot. Just moved to this area. Started at Wizards with a poker tournament. Will not return. I have played in perhaps 50-75 casinos and poker rooms around the country. Only Wizard's has a rule that disqualifies you for an entire round if you bet out of turn. During this time out, you must post all blinds even though you are not playing a hand. NO OTHER CASINO ON EARTH as far as I know uses this absurd rule. At the very first hand, two players bet out of turn. Both because the DEALER took blinds from players with chips who were absent and then placed them in the WRONG PLACE. The next two players then--correctly in my view--bet on the basis of where the blind chips were placed. Both players were disqualified for a round. The very next hand another player was put in time out for betting out of turn. Several of us at the table said we would not return to Wizards. I am one of them, though I was never put in time out. I played later that day in another tourney at another casino and someone bet out of turn. Here is how it was handled. The person who made the bet apologized and he was permitted to withdraw his bet. No big deal. No issue. Sensible approach. Dumb rules reduce the fun at Wizard, for NO REASON. Surely if every other casino gets by without the Time Out rule, Wizards could as well. read more

Not sure about getting food here- I think I ordered chicken strips once and it was ok. It's sort of in a semi sketchy part of town next to the run down bowling alley. I never really gamble there but they have a few tables. Best part of this place is 6-9pm you call it happy hour $1 beers everyday. At least that's what it was a year ago when I used to live near by.
