A lot of fun for the family, but only do the dragon quest if you have kids probably 7 and under. Next time we're going to do a harder quest. My son loved it! read more

We took our 3 and 6 year old daughters here while on a mini trip to the Dells and I think it was everyone's favorite part of our trip! It's a little pricey, but we spent a couple of hours playing there, so I think it was worth it. We did the apprentice quest and honestly, weren't really sure how to find the four wizards at first, so we just let the girls explore/play (there are slides, tunnels, hidden nooks, etc). When our daughter spotted our first wizard, we finally figured out what we were supposed to be looking for and had a good time re-searching the other areas to find the other three wizards. The place is a little dated and there were areas that could use some updating, but all in all it was a good time. We will definitely return when the girls are a little bit older to do the harder quest. read more

All in all a fun time. Even if you don't get the finding the wizards thing, watching others go through it is exciting. Our "Ranger Adventurers Assistants" were attractive and attentive, and Andy in particular was entertaining, and you could tell he enjoyed his job. Some of the exhibits are starting to look a little tired. I think a deep clean, especially dusting, and sprucing up would be in order before it gets too busy. Similarly, some areas looked surprisingly still under construction, although obviously lay untouched for a long time. We went with the right age kids... three 13 year old boys. They loved it! The "Ranger Adventurers Assistants" also allowed us a room off the souvenir shop to enjoy a modest birthday party. Again, the staff was friendly and helpful. Not a place for germophobes. Everybody touches everything, so bring sanitizer! Recommended for rainy days, or days when it's so hot you cant stand it anymore. It helps to have kids that can fit into areas that adults may find a challenge, although anyone under 30 would get a kick out of the slides, ball pit, and tiny doors and hidden areas. Not recommended for those with limited mobility or a short attention span. Small children may soon become bored and cranky. The questions sometimes do not correspond to the right area; an easy fix for a good programmer. If fantasy/role playing games are your thing, then this is the place to go for sure. If one overlooks the short-comings mentioned, it will be a great time for all. Remember, under the dragon's scales, she hides the gold. read more

So much fun for all ages. First timers should definitely choose the easiest quest. We chose the medium quest and due to our floundering around at the beginning trying to find our footing, we weren't able to finish within the 75 minute time limit. It was a lot of fun to try, though. The entire experience is very detailed, engaging, and worth the money spent. read more

Okay so at first glance it looks like a dinky tourist joint.... but it's much more. Went here with a group of friends (in our mid 20s) and got our money's worth. Go in with a fun mind set and get into it. So many memz read more

Great place my son fell in love with that it's educational and also physical. Definitely fun for all family and all ages will be coming back soon if you come here good luck on your journey. read more

I was concerned that this was going to be a bit of a letdown, but it was honestly a ton of fun! We got 3 out of the 4 wizards released. Went there with 3 other adults, but looking forward to taking my daughter with me next time. read more

We didn't finish but we had a blast. It was so much fun. I would highly recommend it to any Harry Potter fan. I felt like it was a combination of Harry Potter and an escape room combined. read more

I have been to this place twice. Today, we arrived with a group of 23 before us. The manager (Hayley?) was super nice and helped us get through the check in blob and into the game. We chose the hard category and didn't finish. The challenges were based more on finding something physical (think where's Waldo) than true puzzle . We were 1 clue short of finishing but had an absolutely wonderful time. read more

This was such a pleasant surprise! I wish there were more of these! My kids 8, 6, & 4 had a great time, as did my husband, myself AND my parents. It's was a fun interactive activity that we could all work together on. Really, tons of fun. Sure, it's not perfect, but if you go in with a fun attitude and some imagination you will have a blast. I would definitely recommend this activity! read more

BEST TIME OF MY WHOLE TRIP!! We got here right before they closed at 11pm and had the run of the place with one other couple. Amazing displays and environment, challenging but fun puzzles/questions. Favorite room had lots of doors and a pillar with drawers in it, really felt cool to solve that part. Would spend all my money here if i lived in town! Staff was very helpful and the 90 minutes is the right amount of time to complete. Thanks for your follow up email to me Mr. Gehrke, I wish you all the best!! And i will be back as soon as i can! read more

My husband and I are in our early 30s, and went there last week for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading other reviews, but I ended up having a lot of fun and so did my husband. I think they could use better instructions before you start, but we figured it out after a few minutes and managed to free all the wizards, with just a minute to spare. We went with the medium level. If I understood it right, the only difference between the levels was that if you choose easy, they give you more hints on where to go for the answers to the questions. At medium, the employees will give hints, but only if you walk up to the desk and ask. At the hard level, they cannot assist you. We had an hour and a half, and it flew by quickly. As a bit of a germophobe, I was pleasantly surprised to see an employee walking around cleaning and using Lysol on various surfaces. If you go, try to answer as many questions as possible before entering them into the computer kiosks, since you lose 5 glimmers each time you log in. If you answer incorrectly, you can go back to the locations to re-check the answer and try the question again. Overall, we had fun and will likely return on a future trip to the Dells! read more

So much fun! My boyfriend & I went while we were on vacation and ended up getting wayyy too into it! :D It was challenging but still fun to explore all the different rooms and hidden doors! There are some tight squeezes especially for my boyfriend who is linebacker sized, but he still had fun exploring & trying to figure out the clues! We both agreed that the instructions could have been clearer at the beginning as we were both very lost for quite awhile and unsure of what to do exactly. Once we got the hang of it, we were running around like crazy trying to solve the clues & find the Wizards! This did not deter our experience in any way as we had a blast and can't wait to go back!! read more

We were staying in the Dells this past weekend. Wizard Quest was, by far, our favorite part of the trip. We choose the medium difficulty and really enjoyed looking around, climbing, and crawling to find clues and surprises. Many clues are very well hidden giving things a true "adventure" feel (hidden rooms, moving panels, etc). We managed to free all 4 wizards on our first try, but we just barely made it within the time limit (running down to the wire really added to the fun). Wizard Quest is truly a unique experience. Anyone who enjoys puzzles, fantasy, and/or tabletop RPGs (like D&D) will enjoy this location. Even if you don't finish everything, there's still a lot to look at. It's clear that there was a lot of care and love put into the atmosphere and decor. It also promotes an environment where teaming up with others to locate clues is beneficial. We did talk with other groups and shared hints on where to find missing information. It created a friendly and cooperative atmosphere unique to any attraction I've been to. We look forward to our next visit. We want to try hard difficulty next time, find things that we missed the first time, and perhaps try their upcoming mobile app (we were told it should be done in another month or two). The staff was also friendly and helpful. They were happy to explain the game and point us in the right direction to get started. Tips for anyone attending: - You will need at least one person who can fit in tight spaces (think McDonalds play area tubes) - You may want to bring a pair of knee pads to make crawling through tubes and tunnels easier - You'll probably want to wear closed toed shoes read more

This was so much fun!! It was definitely not too easy. We are nearing 30 and went my husband and me and yes-it is cheesy and dorky but the farther you get in the better it gets! Only downside is the time-you don't get to enjoy the scenery because you have to run around so much. Awesome time. Highly recommend as my favorite attraction I've been to in a resort town. read more

I was a bit reserved about this place but it turned out to be quite fun!! My wife and I had an excellent time. My only problem is I found it to be more difficult than i would have liked. That surprised me. A few times I had absolutely no idea what to do and after we sang/danced for the refs for help I had no idea how I would have come to that conclusion. And suddenly i realized their business model. Return customers. The first quest is basically designed to be failed. If I were to play that game like I do Skyrim Id spend quite a bit of money there. It came down to the hair and we didn't complete the quest. The only option is to go up and try again. I'd like a swipe for $5 and an extra 15 minutes. Then I'd leave with a sense of satisfaction. Instead i left a bit frustrated. My other gripes are the other people. It was too crowded in there. There are a lot of tubes and mazes that will make claustrophobics very nervous. It's irritating when you can't get to a clue because there's a group of people in front of it. Time was very much money. Also... There was a tube filled with ball pit balls that made me briefly wonder if I would die. I'm not kidding. I teetered on a panic attack due to being stuck without anyone around. Once I calmed down I was very concerned about my glasses breaking. It was very stressful. But it was still great fun and I'll never forget it. read more

My wife and I stopped in here on a whim not really knowing what to expect. We went in September so the place wasn't crazy crowded. I was pretty skeptical at first because I thought it would be really cheesy. Long story short, we were given a quick run down and issued a Kindle. We followed the instructions and went through the whole tutorial before starting. The wife and I went through 2 1/2 quests and had a FANTASTIC time working our way through the quests. Really really fun. And we didn't need the black light. We really enjoyed the hidden rooms and passageways. A lot of thought went I to the business. I would highly recommend! read more

As many others have said, it can be extremly confusing in the beginning. We didn't even understand what you are suppose to do. The kids just want to run, jump, crawl and find the hidden doors, which the kids loved, but for the parents trying to figure things out, this makes it even tougher. Just when we got the hang of things and finished the second wizard, time was up. Two sugguestions for the Company. One is to possibly have a trial room that groups can start out in beforehand to get some understanding of what is to come and how the tablet progresses, which would also help the kids to understand what the goal is. The second is to possibly offer an additional hour, or even half hour at a discounted rate to allow groups to finish all four wizards. Once we got the hang of it, it became really fun, but time was up. Didn't mean much too us that we didn't finish in the time frame, but it would of been nice to see all the other stuff in the others areas and finish the whole event. read more

Spent a few hours on a rainy Tuesday afternoon in October doing Wizard Quest. It was alot of fun for my wife and I, we just about had the place to ourselves. I can see how it might not be as much fun if it were crowded which I'm sure it would be in summer. My only regret is the girl giving the instruction was very poor. We entered the ` arena ` not knowing much about what to do, we had to learn most of it on or own which wasted lots of valuable time. For anyone not familiar here are a few suggestions: 1) Time starts when you register but you don't have to register right away. After you enter on the second floor you are supposed to go downstairs to register. Spend a few minutes getting familiar with the four realms ( air, water, earth, and fire) you will be investigating in detail. You can go down the slides to reach the realms on the lower level. See where some of the kiosks are located where you will enter the answers to the questions your brochure. 2) After you register, go directly to water where you will see a video on the rules on how to answer questions and get points and to keep track of time. We did not find this until too late. It is the only place to see this. 3) The back page of the brochure you get has the instructions as well, again, we did not find this until it was to late as well. Why not put this on the front page where you will see them first??? One other thing that was a little disappointing was the vandalism that was evident. I know you can't watch everyone and that dumb kids can't be stopped. But it was clear the some of it was there for some time and could have been fixed. All in all it was alot of fun and I would recommend Wizard Quest to anyone. Just don't bring small kids, they will not appreciate it and only make it worse for others trying to have a good time. read more

I was very skeptical in taking my kids here.(ages 8 and 12) I am glad i did, we had a blast. We did the more challenging quest and didnt free one wizard but we still had a very good time trying.I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about going. It was a little over 50 dollars for 2 kids and 2 adults for 90 minutes of game time. Even after your game ends your kids can still stay and play or explore. I will be heading back if i ever make it back to the Dells. read more

We went Memorial Day weekend and were handed a tablet that would not work properly. It would mark you as both right and wrong at the same time for the answers, but would not let you proceed through the game. When we talked with the staff they ripped off a piece of scrap paper to write out a bug report and sent us on our way. They said that the new game wasn't finalized yet and knew there were software problems on the tablets. No refund, offer to swap a new tablet and replay, or any type of accommodation for the bad experience. If you want to be an unpaid software tester, by all means, head over. Otherwise, save the money for a water park. read more

Loved it! Only wish they would give you more than 90 minutes to free the wizards. It took us awhile to get the hang of it as the instructions are a little vague. I strongly advise to go with a child who can read and is able to get in and out of the tunnels and secret passages or otherwise you will be doing it yourself. I'm almost 5'9 and it was very challenging so after awhile I started having my daughter go in a read out everything to me. We went on Monday so it wasn't crowded at all but I can totally understand how it could get very frustrating as there are books you must read and there's only room for one person inside the hidden crevices throughout the squadrosphere. The ambience of the place is magical and the exhibits are really cool. I wish I had something like this around when I was a kid. Wish they would open up one here in Chicago somewhere! I would take my kids here monthly. It was just that much fun! read more

Kids POV: A fun activity and just make sure you bring someone along for small space. No wand needed just bring your I.D not scary. Start on easy recommend Earth or Fire if is your first time. read more

You pay per adult and kid. Ok but you are given an hour to complete the quests you are give. We did not finish in the hour. A couple of questions in we went to the guy who helps you and he showed us the wrong place. We spent a good 10 mins looking in the wrong place. 60 mins does not give you enough time to enjoy everything and play the game at the same time if it's your first time their. 2 adults and 2 kids came out to about 55$. So we basically paid 1$ a min to play! Dry disapointed with the experience. I wish we were given more time to complete the quest. Go to magic quest. So much better!!! read more

We went at the end of a long pool day with our 3 and 7 year old. It was a blast! The 3 yo didn't appreciate it as much and was a little nervous at some of the dark areas but all in all, we had a great time. We did the medium difficulty challenge, so could ask for hints but we made the mistake of not asking for help and ran out of time without finishing the quest. Our 7 yo wanted to keep going and we had to promise to come again (and that other families would set the Wizards free ). There is a fair amount of crawling through tunnels and climbing up narrow spaces, so be sure to have at least one person willing to do that! Also, many of the answers needed are found just be observing the scenery, so don't expect them to be written out! We will definitely be going next time we are in the Dells! read more

This place sucked! The graphics and "special affects" are extremely half done. They also put you on a time limit of 90minutes. Which isn't so bad if you have multiple people but being that I was on my own I barely had time to find one wizard, and had to pay for more time. Which was wasted as I was never able to find the other wizards. I also have really bad clostrophobia. When I started the game I asked about the tunnels and slides and if there was a way around them, I was told to just ask the crew for help. I was lied to, as none of the cast wanted to help me and I ended up just wondering around the entire time. In the end the only good thing that came from this trip, was that I got a 5% discount at the popcorn store next door. read more

This place is sensational!!! The first time my wife and I went to this place, we didn't know what to expect. It was a little different a few years ago, because they did not have their tablets, but instead (I believe) used an ID of some sort to update and see how much time was left. It was one of the best experiences, so much so that we returned last year and to my surprise they had changed a lot around, so it wasn't exactly the same as before! They added the tablets, switched around the secret rooms and hidden doors, and added tons of props! We played twice and released two wizards! This year we returned to the Dells and they had even changed a bunch of things within the year! This time we opted to do the most difficult quests and although we weren't able to freeze the first wizard, we played again and were able to release the most difficult wizard within the allotted time! It has now become my all time favorite activity and although we cannot travel from Chicagoland to Wis Dells all the time, when we do, Wizard Quest will be a priority stop in the travel plans. Still looking for a place like this closer to home! Please open one in CHICAGO! David R. read more

This place is amazing! If you are looking for a fun group activity I highly recommend checking out Wizard Quest. The concept is great and each room in the game has fantastic detail. So many sneaking secret passages and the level of difficulty is just right! Multiple quest options so even though other people are playing at the same time as you, you never feel like you're all doing the same thing or like they are merging into your group. My group (who btw are adults ages 26-32) had a blast solving the clues and riddles! In fact we went twice in one weekend. Exciting for adults and kids. The staff is friendly and helpful. I fully intend to go back my next trip to the Dells. read more

Came with my husband and 9 and 12 year old boys. Such a fun and different outing to get away from the waterparks with 2 pre-teen boys. The tablet solving does take a tech savy, patient pre-teen/teen or I'd recommend an adult to help. Can be a bit difficult and not for younger kids to just grab tablets and go. They'll be lost and frustrated within minutes as this is intended more for older kids, and even then, we all had to work together to figure it out. We did solve the quest in our timeframe together and had a blast. Our 12 year old for sure enjoyed this the most being a techy kind of guy who loves Sci/Fi, Harry Potter, etc. Just a fun afternoon walking around in this fantasy/fairy/wizard world! read more

Wow, this place has become a scam. Years ago when I went here, they would time you and if you didn't finish in time you didn't get the coupon. While I totally don't agree with that business model as it is, my issue is that now they time you and SHUT DOWN YOUR TABLET if you don't finish in time! What?!?! So we can't even finish the quest we were on? My daughter was really upset. The attendant suggested we do a medium, and we didn't finish, not knowing we would be cut off of even continuing if we didn't finish in time. We stayed Great Wolf Lodge and they have MagiQuest, similar idea, WAAAAAAAY better. read more

Me, my daughter and my mother all went. My mother hated the experience because she felt like it was an overrated house of mirrors. My daughter had a difficult time because it was dark in some places, and had slightly creepy things in other places. It was similar to an escape room and they do have different levels for all players. If you get stuck, there is a wizard available to help you. It was a bit crowded and a bit smelly. read more

This is me and my boyfriends first time here and what an experience. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this business. My boyfriend and I are young adults and this was our first time here so we went with Earth or the medium level. There is an easy level for the kiddos, medium for older first timers like ourselves, and a difficult for those who want the extra challenge. When we were in there, there were young children of the age of maybe about 5 all the way to middle aged and maybe even 40's/50's couples and friends participating. This adventure is not just for the young of age but also for the young at heart and with anyone who has a fantastic imagination. There are slides and tunnels and even trees to climb in the inside with ledges. Also, all through out the adventure, make sure to check the walls, pictures, and the fake doors. If it looks like it should open, most likely it will. Along with that, there are hidden passages to the different realms which for myself were very simple to get through. My boyfriend said that he didn't have much of an issue going through and he is of a bit bigger size. He really liked that through the quest, even after exploring every nook and cranny, there was always something new to explore! One of my favorite parts was the decorations. The top most ceiling kind of through the imagination off but everything else was really great because there was really cool texture and even projections to show waterfalls or landscapes. But not everything was done by projection. It was so realistic with rocks and "moss" even with fairies, goblins, elves, and mermaids. There are different realms such as Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. Each have there hidden secrets and special elements and qualities to them. No matter what age you are, I highly recommend trying this out and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much we did because we are still having a "high" from it! read more

OK. It's rare to go into a place with high expectations and have them surpassed. I went with 9 friends and we broke into teams of 3 - I can't imagine it being more fun with more people on a team. We are all 24-25 and were worried the puzzles would be too easy and the place would be too childish/ghetto. WRONG. It was a perfect amount of silliness and degree of difficulty. Even with parts of the place clearly under construction or repair - I don't think I'll ever forget my experience here. Just be careful where you go (things are dark and could easily get hurt falling down a hidden passage - thats right they have hidden f*&*ing passages!!), and you might want to wear jeans/gloves if you have it. Other things that helped our experience was going their early on a Sunday. Even then it got kind of busy, but I would imagine it being unbearable not to be able to run around and have a good luck at clues with the time limit and all. If you're competitive, love puzzle solving, obstacles, you'll love this place. read more

This was the highlight of my Dells experience this year. My two friends and I (ages 29-31) had the most fun and are planning on going again at least once next year. LOVE LOVE LOVE This place. Every time we go to the Dells, we HAVE to go here (that being me and my 12 year old son). We just got back from another week-long Dells trip last week and we hit Wizard Quest twice while there. This time we brought a friend. We released 3 wizards on the first visit, and got all 4 on the second (even though the quests were different - earth then air). I love trying to figure out the questions. The kids love looking for the wizards and setting them free. Plus, they can crawl through the things I can't. Some of the questions are really hard and you really have to look or think, and you only get 90 minutes to do it. It's a challenge that finds you constantly watching the clock, and running around like a little kid, even if you are in your 40's! I highly recommend for an afternoon of fun! read more

My family including a 7 year old boy and 9 year old girl had a great time! We did the medium difficulty. My kids loved checking out the secret spaces and the riddles that need to be solved kept the adults and kids equally engaged. The hour and half flew by and we could have spent much more time. My daughter had brought a wand and lost it there, we left our name and number. They called the next day and had found the wand at the bottom of the ball pit which they clean out frequently. We left the previous night and they were so kind that they mailed it to us free of charge; what great customer service! As a side note the staff was also very helpful and friendly. read more
