The actors change, the games change, and funny changes. So let's be straight up honest, it is at 10:00 p.m. for a reason. They sometimes have an early show that is always family friendly. The later shows are still clean, but get a little PG-13 from time to time. Were it me, I'd leave the kids at home with grandma, and take my man out for a night of funny, in your face, comedy fun. The shows recently moved to the Midvale Performing Arts Center which has a great big stage for these comedians to play with. The teams are usually well matched in improv funny. Listen, it is a fun night. Run, do not walk, to laugh until your sides hurt!!

It's surprising how little instruction is required - within about 15 minutes, we were climbing the ladder and jumping off the platform, swinging from the bar and transitioning to hang from our knees. (For a severe acrophobic like me, this was still terrifying, but completely safe. Everyone is attached to a safety harness, so even when you let go to drop to the net, they gently hoist you down.) The staff was extremely professional - seriously some of the coolest, nicest people I've ever met. Within our class size of seven, we each got about eight iterations of jumping and flying - everyone, ages 7 to 32, was able to do at least one of the tricks. I will say this is an activity where your fitness level dictates your overall experience. I'm definitely not at my peak, and while I was still able to participate, it was harder for me than the other students. Abdominal and upper-body strength aren't mandatory - but they help A LOT. (Two days later, my fiance and I feel sore EVERYWHERE... Never guessed it would be such a workout!) We also loved the environment, being indoors at the Olympic Oval in Kearns - you're right next to the ice rink, so you can go skating after, if you like. This isn't a cheap date/activity, but it's one you'll never forget! I can't wait to try it again.

If improv ain't your thing, then it's probably best to stay away or come during the early evening for a straight up show. But Quick Wits has been at it for a while and depending on who's there it can be pretty entertaining. If you'll reach back to the recesses of your mind, you'll recall that this location used to be the Comedy Circuit. It's set up just like you'd expect a comedy club turned theater would be. And sure, it's had shinier days, but they do continue to light the marquee out front and since becoming Midvale Main Street Theater a few years back it's in good repair. Parking is on the street (perhaps in back? Don't quote me on that one) and I'm a fan of old Midvale Main. It's not the hip hop happenin' place it could be, but it's a unique place to grab some laughs.

It's easy to get to regardless of where you live in the valley-something that downtown can't boast. I visited to watch a ballroom performance (which was phenomenal, by the way) and was impressed by the layout and design of the building. The theater itself had two tiers, including box seating on the sides. The sound was impressive, and the seats were comfortable with good views all around. I'll keep an eye on this one to see what other performances are on the calendar. I'm looking forward to returning!

First and foremost, the lovely woman who checked us in was so kind and considerate at letting us move seats so my pretty large party could stay together. I thought it would be a bigger deal but she didn't even blink an eye! Once we were ushered in to the most gorgeous ballroom we were greeted with our first course introduced by Chef Anna. Chef Anna might be the actual star of the show. The food blew me and my party away and I thought I was just coming here for the magic and ambiance. We had the five courses with the fastest refills I have ever seen and the whole night kept a great pace. After dessert was one the other star came out... Larry Wilson. He was nominated for an Emmy but I now argue he was robbed and should have won. I never laughed so hard and felt so engaged in a magic show. The over all story is about the life in a colony of insects that all interact with each other, and there is a bit of a love story to it as well. The comic routines by the "clowns" that tie the story together are hilarious as they provide great cover for the stage transitions. As for the acts themselves they are truly incredible feats. Starting with people juggling with their feet both of objects and each other and ending with some truly incredible gymnastics that features trampolines and a climbing wall the there is non stop action all the way through. Some of the most amazing things were the "butterflies" who were a couple that did a amazing suspension performance and the act that was basically a trapeze act without the trapeze. Also incredible was a slack line act that showcased some really amazing feats. As if riding a unicycle isn't hard enough, this guy was doing it upside down on a slack line. This show is well worth the money and is great entertainment for the whole family.
