We parked and so happened to have parked right in front of this adorable consignment store. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly storekeeper. :) She was the owners adult daughter and an artist vendor there. She was so sweet and friendly and helpful. They have Plus Size Women's Clothes, which is always a joy for me! :) I ended up buying a pair of LIKE NEW pants and an adorable shirt....for $12...one of my items was 75% off. I feel like it was destiny. Then we just looked at all the tid-bits of goodness, all around. Car fresheners, hand-embroidered items, unique knitted earrings and so much more! It was a great adventure. We're so glad we found this place. :) We will be back!

Of course, you never know what a store like this will end up with since it's a consignment, but that's the beauty, you find treasures. I bought a blouse for $7 and wore it out of the store. Check this place out. It's wonderful.

We have been loyal customers of the Deuce ever since we moved here two years ago…read more It is one of the better second hand stores. There's not much to it. Folks donate junk they don't want, we show up and buy it. Charities benefit. If they've over priced, we decide how badly we want it and factor in that all proceeds benefit a cause. This store is really well organized with a huge variety of junk. Prices are great, especially for clothes. They have a massive dvd and book collection. Even a nice selection of Alaska based writings. Take care, remember it's donated stuff other people didn't want. Sometimes that means damaged or in need of repair. Buy accordingly. I know it's for a cause, but there are times when it's fun to dicker, especially when something's broke and so are we! I've bought cool shot glasses, growlers, tools and OSU Buckeye dolls. I've even found my favorite candy bars at a nice price. Even at their peak the line moves quickly so it's a very efficient process. The folks are fun to deal with, super friendly! 08/23

The only negative part about the store is it is for profit and does not benefit the needy. But in a sense it does because clothing is SO Expensive in Alaska, it really is a blessing to find a place like this. Not only do they have clothing, but they have baby stuff, scrubs, bridal gowns, suits, Halloween costumes, rainwear, tons of sporting gear, kitchen and house stuff, books, dads, cds and albums, bikes and strollers.

They all have really nice bikes and we were asking them if they bought them here new or shipped them up. They were excited to report they got the bikes for a killer deal ($20 each) at a really cool thrift shop in Big Lake. Sara's Place has to be the spot they were talking about. It's located right along the main drag in Big Lake and it's chockful of interesting things to look at, inside and out, for both men and women. They accept donated items as well as consignment items. I got some nice vintage plates and the woman at the counter generously cut me a sweet deal. If you're ever out that way and you appreciate digging thru a good thrift shop, be sure and pay them a visit.

Posting this also here where they CANT buy my review and have it deleted…read more Update 4 days later: Since posting this they have again bought out my review. We also bought another carboy 5 gallon jug for $25 LOCALLY. Well they bought out my last review, the date stamp is missing but everyone else's is there... So it's been 6+ years and wanted to review the store again. It still sucks. It's still over priced. All proceeds go to their church and NOT the community. I was hopeful, truly that they and turned their stuff around. But nope. There are things they think are high price items, $48 for a carboy when we just got one locally for $20. Identical! But because they looked on eBay and Shopify or what ever they think they can over price it. Still shady. Bishops Attic and turn a leaf help locals. Not this place. If they truly helped locals their prices wouldn't be so high. They are in it for the money only. So much for "Christian" values. You warship the $. Also sharing my original they had removed.

It's located in a building that hosts a community of shops including, a florist, a game type area, and a couple other stores that I failed to recall after I left the last couple times. When you first walk in, you kind of get an overwhelming sense of a thrifty, inexpensive, almost seedy feeling of a shop. The shop owner does have some beautiful finds that she showcases for customers to see, but they seem a little pricey for being a used/consignment shop. There's also a couple pieces of furniture for sale as well, but definitely in an as-is condition. When the owner isn't there, the staff seems pretty hesitant on making even little haggling decisions on items. They have all sizes, all styles, along with all weather and all occasion clothing. (Great place to find a formal!) My last visit found me leaving with a business casual dress ($4), three sleeveless tops ($6), and a pair of shorts ($2.75). It takes time to peruse... but if you're diligent, you'll get a great deal! Tip: don't shop in the middle of summer... You'll overheat once you've been wandering the store for a while and it'll be miserable trying clothes on that already smell questionable in the warmth despite plans to take them home to wash and it will probably deter you from spending money... Remember, you're going to be able to wash your purchased clothing, so don't mind the smell. Happy thrifty hunting!
