Been wanting to come here for sometime now but I always forget about coming. I was looking for a spot to read and that's when I remembered the library. Upon arriving, there was parking all around the building. After I parked, I noticed there was a round about to walk around outside and a couple spots by the ponds to read! I went inside the library, and it was very organized. Spots around downstairs and upstairs to study or read. There were private rooms for rent. For the most part, I was able to read and concentrate. However, towards the end, there were kids upstairs that were being loud and I couldn't concentrate anymore. I didn't know this library was different than the Orange County library. I thought it was the same, but thankfully, getting a new library card was simple. I found the 2 books I was looking for! There's book returns both inside and outside of the library! My favorite thing about this spot is the architecture outside! read more

We were actually here to attend their annual "Books & Boots" event. I love this library so much. This library is huge. There are so many books and I love the layout. Because of the unique architecture, there are several floors and it feels like a magical maze inside. There are small areas throught to read, explore and use your computer. There's even a little multimedia section! There is also a special events center next door, connected by a little patio area. The staff here are so helpful and friendly! The location is so bright and clean that you can't help but feel happy the moment you walk in! Happy adventures to you!! read more

The Winter Park Library is a gem that has been hidden from me up until about a year ago or so ago. I've been here a few times for non-library related events, however, recently I decided to try checking out a book and attending a community event. It was a very nice violin presentation. If you are able to sign up for a library card - either directly or via partnership with another library system, then you'll be able to use [some] member services such as borrowing books, reserving meeting rooms, etc. They send out a monthly email with a list of upcoming events hosted by the library - registration may be required. The building design is unique and a little bit of a marvel to see. It is a beautiful piece of architecture. There is a reasonable amount of parking in the parking lot surrounding the building as well as a parking garage across the street from the library. Overall, it is a nice facility, the staff has been more than helpful, and they offer a lot of community activities. read more

Hip modern library. Plenty of book selections for kiddos to get interested in whatever floats their boat. Love that they support the kids with engaging classes to pursue interests. They always fill up fast so you have to be on the look out. Also although we are technically in Seminole county they admit entry to a lot of them. A great spot to get out and do homeschool too. MLK nearby is very convenient as well. Many other reasons to visit these are just among some of them. read more

Recently started taking my twin toddlers here and they love it. The second floor is filled with kids books and activities. The imagination room has free play and story time. The library is huge with beautiful architecture and is very clean. The staff is friendly. read more

Winter Park Library stands out from any other local library with its modern architecture (The library is attached to an event space too). They have a great book selection inside with many self-service kiosks to make checking out a breeze. There are numerous free events open to everyone, regardless of membership status. I recommend checking out their event calendar! The only downside is the limited lounge areas. I do not recommend coming to this library to read. There are barely any areas that allow for this. The space primarily consists of uncomfortable concrete seats around the interior. read more

3.5 Stars The new library is gorgeous, but a little impractical. If you're looking for a beautiful event space or an architectural feast, I would highly recommend this library. It also works well as a community space as there are a lot of events, resources, and activities available at this library. However, as a library space, there are pros and cons. Some positives -- the staff here are super knowledgeable and friendly; and the selection of books is great! I love the ability to self check-out; and if you have an Orange County Public Library Card, you can borrow physical books from the library. If you're looking for local or community events, look no further! The Winter Park Library has a calendar that's packed full of events for library-goers of all ages. They also have really cool art and robotics kits for kids that you can borrow; and there's also some cool seasonal seeds that you can get to start a garden, as well as some other nice offerings. As a work or reading space -- I think it works better as a work space. There are tons of outlets, tables, and chairs available for you to get some work done. However, as a space to lounge and read books, there's much to be desired as there aren't too many spaces where you can hunker down in a corner to read. The biggest drawback is the way sound carries in the library. I don't believe that libraries need to be silent, but sound should be a bit more modulated in a place where people gather to read or work. Due to the open concept architecture and the choice to place an auditorium in the middle of the library, there's a high chance that, if there are any speakers or performances, you'll be participating in the activity whether you like it or not, no matter where you decide to sit. Something else I noticed is that because the children's/teen's area is on the second floor and -- due to the lack of sound barriers -- if there are some particularly rambunctious kids or activities, the sounds bounce off the high ceilings and can also be heard throughout the whole library. If you choose to come here to get some work done, I'd highly recommend bringing headphones (and maybe listening to some ambient library ASMR videos if you miss that quiet library feel). Overall, I love coming here and am super glad they built the space! It's not a traditional library, but I'm guessing they didn't want it to be. read more

This is a lovely library that has everything that you would want and expect when you visit. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of parking. It is wonderfully peaceful and very clean. They offer a full calendar of events for all ages and interests. I recently visited during Kindness Week and enjoyed Inside Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. Members of the cast and crew showed clips and took us back in time. It was followed by a nice reception that included a meet and greet. read more

I wish we lived closer so we could take advantage of their programs and events. We stopped in after visiting a local park and I was mesmerized by the gorgeous architecture. The inside is just as amazing as the outside too. We loved the stairs and the open feeling of this huge library. My son loved the children area. They have plenty of puzzles for kids to play with. It appears there might be two pages for the Winter Park Library (and Events Center)... based on the location, I had checked into this one and checked the address and it appears to be correct for the newest building, so without further ado, my review! I came here for a holiday work party and found this venue absolutely stunning. The architecture of the building is so intriguing and we participated in a tour of the facility - which I very highly recommend to grasp the full beauty and understanding of the process behind all of the design elements in the building. I wish I had taken more pictures of the interior but I thought a really nice element was the lower bookshelves that make it easier to see across the floors. The childrens section has gerbils!!! Anyway, our event was held in the events center portion and the space is HUGE! I particularly thought the terrace and outdoor space overlooking the pond provides a stunning backdrop for any event. The second floor terrace provided a view of downtown Orlando that was gorgeous! I was in awe of how far you could really see from the rooftop. Our event ran seemlessly and the whole space is just gorgeous. Take a look at the drive up view! They did such an excellent job on the new building. Very impressed and I'm looking forward to attending more events in the future here. Again - I highly recommend the tour. The love for the building and the purpose shines through their staff. Did I mention they have a fully equipped recording studio?!? So neat. read more

I love to read and I love libraries so it's hard not to give five stars. But this library is super gorg and in such a convenient location that it deserves it. Ironically enough I have yet to check out a book for myself and instead every visit here has been for my toddler. They have a super cute kids section and this place has come in clutch on hot days when I want to take my kid somewhere with air conditioning and something to do. I haven't enjoyed any programming yet but I know there's a calendar full of events for all ages and every librarian I've seen looked under 40 and actually happy to help me. The building is lovely and the staff is friendly. This library is for residents of winter park and not apart of the Orange County library system. You can obtain a library card if you already have an Orange County library card. This would be a great place to work remote or just chill and read a book. It's very clean and not crowded at all. My son had wanted to check out the new winter park library. We don't live close to winter park at all but we had a 5k in the area and stopped by afterwards. They open at 9a on Saturday's. It's a beautiful library. Very simple and modern. The library is 2 stories. The upstairs is for children. Downstairs adults. The library is like a square, no mazes. You won't get lost. The winter park library is not part of the Orange County library system therefore your card will not work. You have to sign up for a card. I definitely want to return and get a library card here when I am back in this side of town. read more

Beautiful library, the Children's section is what went for and it did not disappoint! There was an area with toys, puzzles, and computers for the children to play. We also met Amelia the Hamster! Needless to say my son had a fantastic time! The icing on the cake was the Baby changing room! On the same floor as the children's area, there was a separate room to change our baby with a rocker, diaper genie, sink and low lighting if needed. Very impressed. read more

This library is big and beautiful and some of the staff are welcoming as well. The only downside at this library is the constant loud noise from the second floor. The children session and the book store downstairs. It seems that "Indoor voice" is an unfamiliar word for some. Sometimes or most of the time it sounds like a playground or day care instead. One can hear the loud voices, screams, dragging of furniture smashing of objects, parents talking loudly. I can hear all this even while wearing headphones which I sometimes wear to mask the noise and that even fails, lol There is a complete disregard about the fact that downstairs there are people trying to read or study or just find a quite space to concentrate for that matter...after all it is a library.. I tried to bring the subject to one of the staff members's attention about perhaps placing signs around as a reminder out of consideration to others, after all it is a library, but she just hurriedly dismissed me and went on the elevator while I was talking to her. Really bad experience so if your intentions are to go to this library to find a tranquil place to study good luck with that. read more

Wow! What a lovely library! Its only after coming here for an evening seminar on Medicare with my mum, that I realized how pervasively e-books have changed my reading habits!!! It used to be that I'd be going to my local library at least once a month if not once a week to check out books. Now I just download on my kindle/ nook and I'm in business. Taking that first step into this space after opening that library entrance door, I was hit with nostalgia. I breathed in that long forgotten scent that only a roomful of books has. It's a scent of expectations, a sense of anticipation - what treasure will I find today? Or where will this book transport me? That lovely book-binding scent and then just the delight of standing not just in massive room of books, but knowing there were three floors of it - such bliss! But I'll stop rhapsodizing now about the charm of libraries in general, and get down to the specifics with this one. So it's a lovely light-filled building with nooks and crannies for reading. But parking was a pain, so would definitely recommend sticking the car on a side street and walking down here, rather than getting stuck with a warning ticket like we were. The librarians were wonderful and its well catalogued selection of books plus a lot of events to bring people in. There was a community room on the 3rd floor, which was where mum and I were for her seminar, interesting artwork on the walls and fascinating sculpture pieces as well as a bookstore which was closed when we got there - I definitely need to come back and check the store out. About a month ago I came to check this Library out since I've been studying from my Doctorate's Licensing exam. I actually live in Orlando and the Orange County Library is closest to where I live, but it's often packed, rarely any seats available (specially during afternoons and weekends) and it gets crazy with children running around and adults having loud conversations. So in need of looking for new places to study, I realized that my Orange County Library is good for every public library within the County. Checked out the reviews and when I saw that Children had their own floor this really caught my attention and had to check the place up. Don't get me wrong, I like children... but if I go to a Library to study for my licensing exam, I need a quiet place and my local library wasn't doing the trick. I set out to check this place and was immediately greeted, oriented and given my own Winter Park Library Card. Now you can use your Osceola County one, but if you want to be able to use the computers, separate areas, participate of events and/or classes an rent their bikes, you need their card. Luckily, they just need evidence that your Orange County account is is good standing and boom! You get your card! The few times that I've been here, I have really enjoyed it. It's very quiet, organized, friendly staff, accessible WIFI for everybody (no need to be a member), you can rent bikes for free and ride them around town, rent movies and of course, books. They also have their own bookshop that sells used books at low prices. This place counts with three floors, where the second floor is the one for children. Quietest place is third floor. I definitely can't come more often since it's a bit out of my way, but I do enjoy coming here on occasions... I can't wait until I finish studying for my exam so I'm able to come for a day an rent a bike to ride around the beautiful City of Winter Park. read more

When built in 1978 this impressive building must have been the pride of the citizenry. There is a nice little cafe downstairs. Today, the place is a disgrace for a town filled with BMWs and high end houses. Rollins College has gone on an edifice orgy since then. The library is frozen in a time warp, minimally maintained since opening. As one of the most affluent towns in the region it shows how little the people care about reading, high end shopping and restaurants are obviously a bigger priority. This is the absolute worst maintained library in an affluent college town I have seen anywhere in North America. Find a donor or form a booster club to fix it up....it reflects very poorly on the community. read more

I feel like I'm back in middle or high school... That's the last I remember ever stepping foot in a library. I called this library to inquire about how we sign up for a library card. I was asked where I lived, she typed my address into her computer and then told me that I was in (their range)?? Not sure how it works here, but I'm assuming if you live too far away you can't be a part of this library. I was told all I needed to sigh up was my license showing my current address. My husband and I arrived, we were surprised to learn you can rent electronics of different sorts. They have a Fitbit, iPads and more. Obviously first come first served, but they do have a waiting list you can put your name on. Signing up for the card was as simple as filling out a few questions and signing our name on the dotted line. There are three floors to explore. We started on the third and worked our way down. They have stairs or an elevator. We took the stairs because we work out wherever we can...just kidding, we're afraid of elevators. There were patrons scattered throughout each floor. Some sitting at tables, others in chairs next to the windows and some sitting straight up on the floor in the book aisles. We decided to rent a couple of books and go home, I wasnt too interested in staying there to read. I noticed mostly all chairs I saw had dust caked on them and having severe allergies I didn't want to risk an embarrassing allergy attack in public. There's a snack/drink vending machine on the first floor although I feel I'd be too embarrassed to use it since it's right next to people reading and I wouldn't want to be a disturbance. They show movies at this location, however it was pretty questionable that they had a poster advertising a showing of 50 Shades Freed, one of the 50 Shades of Grey movies. I'm not sure how comfortable I'd feel watching that at my neighborhood library. I do however think it's a cool idea to show movies, I'll keep an eye out for the next movie showing. Check out was quick and pretty simple, but if you're not familiar with how it works it's easy to stand there for a couple minutes feeling lost. You first scan you're library card, push a couple buttons on the touch screen then just individually place each item on the black surface. It recognizes what it is and puts the title on the screen. Then you just push checkout and you're done. This place does not look like it's been spruced up on about 20 years, but all in all it has a great selection of books, movies and events. I'm glad this is my public library, and I'm excited to visit again. read more

Five stars for an older library that always has everything I need. I typically read pop lit, but my husband sometimes needs specific books for school and they always seem to have them (I think they're pretty random). If not on the shelf, the reserve process is super simple. I have to give kudos to the technology that has been implemented at this older library. It's not too overwhelming and just enough go make things super easy. Reserving books on their website? No need for a password, but just your library card number. Need to pay a fine? You can do it at the self-service or you can use the circulation desk staff. My younger brother uses my library card and it's easy for them to look up my account and let him pay without involving me (high school kids these days...). Also, their self service is so easy - scan card and place books on pad. One thing the library is not great for is working. I telecommute so sometimes I look for work space that is not my home office - but I need to make calls so I'm not the quietest coworker. The group study room always has super quiet people in it. I don't mind others talking while I work, but I feel terrible talking when all three others are silent. It has failed to enter my work space rotation like other libraries. I know the bond passed (it is shown by my higher property taxes) and I know it's moving to MLK park in the near future (and actually a reason to sell vs. rent out our current home) which is a bit disappointing because it will no longer be the perfect location with plenty of parking. For a local library, I have definitely used and fell in love with this building and resources. read more

Four stars for a conveniently located library with friendly employees. I needed a quite place to do some work while we were having some work done on our house. As such, I decided to find the local library! The location is great, right next to Park Ave. Additionally, it has it's won parking lot! This is a huge bonus. The building is a bit older, but it was decently well maintained. There are three floors, and the top floor has a few cubicles for people studying. However, there are not power cords convenient and I had to find one near an outlet. The cubbies were crowded with a bunch of men not reading, which was a bit weird. However, the employees were very friendly and the wifi is free! The second floor was mainly a children's area. I like this idea because it allows the children to have their own space away from grumpy adults trying to sit in silence. It was very cute and seemed like it had a decent group of young families milling around. While I didn't check out any books, I did learn a bit about the library cards. Members of the Orange County library (and another I don't recall) can use the library and have some transfer rights. However, to get full access to all of their events (ex: Spanish classes!) you need a Winter Park library card specifically. Overall, this is a fine library in a great location. read more

I've been in the Winter Park neighborhood for 4 years and I haven't had the chance to check out what they have to offer until earlier this year. I must say that Winter Park Public Library offers a vast array of resources despite its size. My first experience here was because I was trying to get a hold of the movie Neverending Story so I placed an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) through Rollins. ILL enables you to borrow materials from any participating library so you can get materials from University of Florida library or even from Australia! I later found out that WPPL has so many programs and workshops. I don't mean just book clubs and poetry readings but they have classes like Tai Chi and beginning Spanish conversation. Also, great business - everyone is so friendly and helpful. I am super fascinated by this nonprofit organization. Oh, another cool program WPPL offers to the community is the monthly Friday night and Sunday afternoon movie showings called CineMagic and Cinema Circle. I have seen 2 films here so far - a Danish film called Adam's Apples and one from Disney called Song of the South. Honestly, for a small fee (Institute members free; nonmembers $5; 60+ $3; Rollins Students free w/ student ID) indie shorts, documentaries and feature films from around the world with experts on the discussion panel afterwards really enlighten certain topics and everyone is so enthusiastic. Their thirst for knowledge and passion to learn makes the whole experience extra enjoyable. And to wrap up this review, I am going to stop by Beverly's Café for some homemade baked goods on the first floor for some omnoms. read more
